Doomsday: I Can Get a Hint

Chapter 40: The Eerie Yueyue

"Delicious, so delicious."

In the dining room, Yueyue was eating heartily.

Her little belly was so full it looked like a balloon, yet she kept stuffing food into her mouth.

"Alright, let's stop here for this meal. If you eat any more, your stomach might explode."

Wang Hao saw she'd had enough and stopped Xiaoyueyue.

The little girl's complexion wasn't bad, and she wasn't thin either. It was clear Brother Wolf hadn't deprived her of food and hadn't let her go hungry.

But being full is one thing, eating well is another.

It's been a long time since the apocalypse began.

Everyone hadn't had a proper meal in a long while.

Faced with such a delicious spread, not just a child like her, even an adult with strong willpower might not be able to resist eating voraciously.

"Oh!"

Yueyue nodded obediently and, rubbing her belly, showed a sweet smile on her face:

"Brother, the food you cook is really delicious. I haven't eaten such good food in a long time."

"As long as you like it."

Wang Hao smiled and patted her head.

Yueyue wasn't very afraid of people and became familiar with Wang Hao after a short time together.

"Mm! I love it so much."

Yueyue nodded emphatically.

"Yueyue! There's something I need to tell you."

Wang Hao's face turned serious.

Yueyue blinked and looked at him.

"You will stay in the room I took you to earlier. Unless there's something important, don't come out.

The room has a TV with lots of cartoons. You can watch them as much as you want.

I'll leave some snacks in there. If you get hungry, you can have some. I'll call you out when it's time to eat.

Please don't touch anything in the house, okay?"

Wang Hao instructed simply.

Yueyue was only four and a half, at an age of innocent curiosity. If things were too complicated, she wouldn't understand, so simplicity was best.

The room he arranged for her was a small room without windows.

This would avoid many troubles.

After all, children are very curious about the world and love to play with everything. It would be troublesome if she opened the window.

Although the room was small, it was only small in a relative sense.

It had its own bathroom, so staying inside wouldn't be a problem.

"Oh, got it."

After nodding emphatically, Yueyue yawned:

"Brother, I'm so sleepy! I want to go to bed, can you carry me to sleep, please?"

"Sure!"

Wang Hao displayed a gentle smile, walked over, bent down, and picked up Yueyue, taking her to her room.

As the door closed, the smile on his face vanished instantly.

What replaced it was a face full of seriousness.

Weird!

This little girl named Yueyue was too strange.

If it weren't for the hints, he would have wanted to throw her out already.

Since she came in, she hadn't mentioned her father at all!

Brother Wolf's body is still out there.

Moreover, she seemed to possess intelligence uncommon for her age.

Mature to a frightening degree.

And then there was her looks and skin.

With Brother Wolf's appearance, it would have been hard for him to find a stunning girlfriend before the apocalypse.

Yet Yueyue's features were so exquisitely beautiful they were startling.

She might be the most adorable little girl Wang Hao had ever seen.

Her skin was white and soft like milk, without a single blemish or scar.

This certainly wasn't something Brother Wolf could father.

Unless there had been a genetic mutation.

Of course, whether or not she was Brother Wolf's daughter didn't seem to matter much.

It's possible she was an orphan of one of Brother Wolf's friends.

As for not clamoring for her father and being sensible...

Perhaps Brother Wolf had taught her before?

"Maybe I'm overthinking it?"

Wang Hao touched his chin, pondering whether he was being overly cautious.

After all, she's just a four-and-a-half-year-old girl, what could she possibly do?

But he still felt a bit uneasy, sensing an inexplicable lack of security.

He quickly ran up to the third floor, looking outside.

Brother Wolf was still lying there, not moving at all.

Wang Hao took out a crossbow and shot at him.

The arrow pierced through his shoulder, and blood oozed out, yet Brother Wolf didn't budge.

It seemed he was truly dead.

He thought for a moment and then launched a drone to survey the surrounding area.

But he didn't find anyone hiding.

[Yaoyao, Yaoyao, please respond.]

[What's up, brother?]

Sun Yaoyao's voice quickly came through the walkie-talkie.

[Have you noticed any strangers nearby?]

[Strangers? Do you mean the guy who died outside your door, or the little girl you carried into the house after stripping her?]

Sun Yaoyao's words nearly made Wang Hao choke on his water.

He coughed violently.

[Brother, your taste is a bit questionable! Although the youthful aesthetic is trendy now, that kid is way too young! It's a bit perverted! Let her go, if you're looking, at least find an adult, right? At the very least, she should be over 14 years old!]

Sun Yaoyao advised earnestly.

[What are you talking about? I'm only looking after her because her father asked me to. I'm asking if there are any other suspicious people around.]

Wang Hao didn't want to explain further; the more he defended himself, the worse it sounded.

"Other suspicious people?"

Sun Yaoyao looked at Lin Yuennan beside her.

Lin Yuennan frowned and didn't answer immediately. Instead, she used binoculars to survey the area before picking up the walkie-talkie.

[No other suspicious people found at the moment.]

[Okay, thanks. Please increase vigilance in the coming days. If there's any movement, contact me immediately.]

[Got it.]

Wang Hao turned off the walkie-talkie.

His worries eased a little.

He thought he really might be overthinking it.

Yueyue was just a four-and-a-half-year-old girl; to carry out an inside job, you'd need someone older, right?

And if she had any issues, there should have been a warning.

Instead of emphasizing her usefulness.

Maybe it's precisely her extraordinary nature that makes her useful?

Just not knowing what she's useful for!

Wang Hao entered his cultivation room, sat cross-legged on the mat, absorbed spiritual power, and enhanced his strength.

After the fog cleared, he closed the internal circulation, keeping the Blade of Plunder close, continuously absorbing spiritual qi to transform it into spiritual power to improve his body.

Up to now, his body no longer excretes impurities.

He even felt a faint trace of spiritual power swirling around his dantian.

Though it was very weak, it was hugely significant.

With continuous cultivation and the growth of spiritual power, perhaps one day, he might also be able to fly through the heavens and earth, even possess the power to move mountains and fill seas.

The world is now in chaos, especially with the intelligence brought by Brother Wolf, allowing Wang Hao to deeply feel the importance of strength and influence.

Without sufficient strength and power, he might inevitably follow in Brother Wolf's footsteps.

Thus, he needed strong power and to build a strong influence.

A single person's strength is ultimately limited, and he needs a group of subordinates.

At the same time, to control these subordinates, he needs enough strength.

Therefore, he must work hard to improve himself.
