Doomsday: I Can Get a Hint

Chapter 77: Mysterious Crystal

The Blade of Plunder transformed into the shape of a dagger.

Wang Hao donned a protective suit, instructed Yueyue to stay on guard, and began dissecting the monster's corpse.

The first step was to skin it.

He peeled off the layer of scale armor from its body.

Next, he removed the sharp claws.

The Blade of Plunder, though rusted, was incredibly sharp. In front of it, the monster that was impervious to swords or spears was no different from tofu.

After working for more than half an hour, the monster's corpse was completely disassembled.

Washing it with water, Wang Hao carefully collected the spoils of war.

These were treasures!

First, there was the scale armor, thin and light yet with terrifyingly high defense capabilities.

Once he gathered enough, it could be made into armor, far superior to a bulletproof vest.

Then there were the claws.

They could be made into spears, making it effortless to pierce zombies and ghouls, and possibly even infected with a virus.

This could instill significant fear in enemies.

Furthermore, they could be made into arrowheads and cause damage to similar monsters.

These were excellent materials.

At this moment, Wang Hao felt a sensation akin to playing a game.

"Sigh... I wonder how many of these monsters are out there!"

After the excitement, he let out a long sigh, feeling somewhat worried about the future of humanity.

The previous zombies and ghouls, though terrifying, did not have high attack power, and ordinary people could still contend with them.

Especially with a gun, it was even easier.

Overcoming fear made killing them simple.

But encountering this kind of monster was troublesome.

Given time, just one of these monsters could slaughter a small town.

If Lin Yuennan's convoy encountered it without knowing its weaknesses, there was a high likelihood of being annihilated.

At the same time, Wang Hao began to worry about himself.

One or two of these things were not a concern, but if there were dozens or hundreds.

Fighting head-on would mean death.

At this point, he instinctively glanced at Xiaoyueyue.

His determination to keep Xiaoyueyue by his side was once again reinforced.

She was his trump card for survival!

"Hey! Brother, there seems to be something inside there," Xiaoyueyue said, pointing at the monster's head.

For safety's sake, Wang Hao had already smashed the monster's head to a pulp.

Now, under the moonlight, amidst the nauseating filth, there was a faint glimmer.

Wang Hao's eyes brightened.

After some cleaning, he retrieved a small stone from inside.

The stone, about the size of a grain of rice, was crystal clear, reflecting a captivating luster under the moonlight.

"Is this some sort of crystal?"

Wang Hao furrowed his brows.

His first thought was that the monster had accidentally swallowed some crystal gem.

But on second thought, it didn't make sense.

After all, the crystal was found in the monster's head, not its stomach.

Could it have naturally formed there?

Something akin to a core in novels?

Wang Hao had this speculation in mind.

He had previously considered the possibility of such things existing.

He had even searched the brains of some zombies and ghouls but found nothing.

The people in the villa had cremated their bodies, but nothing appeared even after being burned to ash.

Wang Hao had given up.

But now, it seemed...

It wasn't that these monsters didn't have such things.

Maybe it was just that the level of zombies and ghouls was too low to produce them.

Holding the crystal, he attempted to absorb its energy.

However, there was no response.

He placed it on the Blade of Plunder, but still, there was no reaction.

"This..."

Wang Hao furrowed his brows slightly.

Things were not as he expected!

He toyed with it for a while longer but found no peculiarities, so he put it away.

Now was not the time to study it; he could investigate it slowly once back at the villa.

He had a hunch that this thing would be of great use.

"No wonder there are so many zombies in this building, they were probably all eaten by this thing."

At this moment, Wang Hao realized something else.

There were many zombies coming up from this building, and he had not finished killing them yet.

With a flashlight, he carefully observed the zombies outside the fence.

He noticed there were holes in the chests of these zombies.

Their hearts had been hollowed out.

Thinking back to the previous attacks,

he formed a hypothesis:

"Could this monster prefer eating hearts?"

...

As the night faded and the first rays of dawn shone upon the earth,

Lin Yuennan's convoy set off again.

Lin Yuennan, with a resolute expression, secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

This night had finally passed without any danger.

It was her first time leading a team, advancing so boldly in such conditions!

The target was too large.

They faced threats not only from monsters but also from humans.

In these tall buildings, there must be many watching them.

And among these people, it wouldn't be surprising if they had guns.

It had been a long time since the apocalypse broke out.

Even in their villa area, survival was tough, let alone outside.

Those driven mad by hunger would do anything for supplies.

"Sigh..."

She sighed softly; the road back would be even harder.

After all, when the truck was filled with supplies.

That would be the most dangerous moment.

Changing routes several times, taking detours, and clearing debris along the road, by 3:10 PM, Lin Yuennan's convoy finally arrived at their destination.

At this moment, quite a number of zombies and ghouls had already gathered on site.

They were attracted by the corpses Lin Yuennan had left earlier.

After feasting, some left in search of more food.

However, some stayed, lured by the warehouse filled with dried meat and other items.

They lingered there, unwilling to leave.

"Get out, form teams of three, and kill the monsters."

Lin Yuennan gave the order directly.

These people had been trained for some time and she had led them to battle monsters before.

So they were not novices.

However, facing such a large number of monsters was a first for them.

Everyone couldn't help but feel nervous, beads of sweat forming on their foreheads.

Some even felt an urge to flee.

Seeking fortune and avoiding danger was human nature.

But rationality told them they couldn't run.

Where could they go if they ran now?

Without Wang Hao's supply of resources, they'd either be bitten by zombies or starve to death.

But if they fought and cleared out the zombies here, they could secure a whole warehouse of resources.

Then they could live in peace in their paradise on earth.

And they weren't unprepared; each was fully armed.

They wore arm guards and leg guards.

While ensuring mobility, they maximized their protection.

"Kill! Kill all these monsters."

A young man shouted, encouraging everyone while also boosting his own morale.

"After this baptism of battle, you'll all be elites."

Lin Yuennan didn't waste words, wielding two kukri knives, she took the lead.

Unlike Zhou Gang and the old hands who knew how to motivate with grand promises.

She was a military person, and though she had been a captain and led teams, everyone had conviction and faith in their hearts.

They didn't need her to say much to give their all, even sacrificing their lives.

So she resorted to the straightforward method of leading by example.
