Beast Taming: Abyssal Descent

Chapter 32: Selling Supplies the Military's Recruitment

The appearance of Mo Qingchen and Mo Jin surprised the squad of twelve soldiers stationed there, each one looking at Mo Jin with astonishment.

Such a large Great Needle Bee was indeed quite eye-catching.

Mo Qingchen said nothing, directly communicating with the Abyss Pattern at his brow, taking Mo Jin back into the Beast Taming Space.

In the early stages of starting a career, it's best to keep a low profile if possible.

Following the guidance, he walked on.

Mo Qingchen glanced at the military base with the corner of his eye while checking his Attribute Panel.

The originally cluttered inventory from the dungeon now held only a mere seven items.

Among these items, aside from the equipment produced by the Abyss, everything else, once taken out, could no longer be placed back into the inventory of the Abyss Pattern.

Moreover, aside from the equipment, a one-hour countdown appeared next to each item.

This means that if not taken out within an hour, once the countdown ends, all these items will automatically drop out of the Abyss Pattern.

These damn Abyssal Rules allow Beastmasters no leeway at all!

Muttering a curse, Mo Qingchen quickened his pace.

The amount of Refined Iron Ore and Big Goblin Bones in the inventory was quite a lot. Even with three Space Backpacks, he might not be able to carry them all.

He needed to sell these items quickly and recover some funds.

You must know, a ticket to the Goblin Forest costs 80,000 Dragon Coins, and with his current savings, he couldn't afford a second ticket.

Just as he was following the guide marks on the ground, Mo Qingchen suddenly stopped, looking at a barrack nearby with surprise.

On the barrack was written "Military Acquisition Point" in bold characters, and a purchase sign was erected at the door, listing the items and prices for acquisition.

[Refined Iron Ore] Recycle price per piece: 150 Dragon Coins;

[Big Goblin Bone] Recycle price per pound: 500 Dragon Coins;

[Cold Star Grass] Recycle price per root: 1000 Dragon Coins;

...

The items on the purchase sign were all ores, herbs, and exotic beast bones. Things like fruits and weaponry weren't listed, suggesting they wouldn't acquire those.

Of course, with the Empire's official control over a large army, the logistics pressure must be significant, making it quite reasonable to purchase such items.

However, the purchase prices offered by the military base were basically the market's lower prices.

If someone had a bit of a sales channel or bargained a bit outside, the recovery price could be raised by another ten or twenty Dragon Coins.

However, Mo Qingchen felt there was no need to waste precious time finding people, better to use the free time to clear another dungeon.

So he turned his head and entered the barrack.

The vast barrack was somewhat deserted, with only a few Beastmasters checking the quality of the items for acquisition, accompanied by soldiers.

"Hello, are you here to sell items?"

A female soldier, upon seeing Mo Qingchen enter and stand at the door of the barrack, observing the situation inside, walked up to him with a smile, striding in standard steps, and inquired.

"Yes, I want to sell some herbs, ores, and bones."

"Then please follow me this way. We need to check the quality of the items first. This booklet records the unified prices for our acquired items."

Maintaining a standard smile, the female soldier guided Mo Qingchen, handing him a booklet.

Following the female soldier, they arrived at a small room filled with electronic scales for weighing.

At the female soldier's indication, Mo Qingchen didn't hesitate, taking all the Refined Iron Ore out of the inventory and placing it on an electronic scale.

A total of two hundred pieces of Refined Iron Ore, under the strict settings of the Abyssal Rules, each piece weighed a pound, showing 200 pounds on the scale.

Meanwhile, the female soldier used a scanning device to scan the pile of Refined Iron Ore.

In just a few seconds, the scanning device emitted a sound.

"Beep, item [Refined Iron Ore], qualified!"

Then the female soldier took out a tablet, adjusted it, and recorded the type, quantity, weight, and total recovery price of the item.

As the female soldier signaled to continue, Mo Qingchen placed all the Big Goblin Bones from the inventory onto the adjacent electronic scale.

Watching the scale display 255 pounds, Mo Qingchen realized that the units of the materials in the Abyss Pattern's inventory were not the same, depending on what the dry material was.

"Beep, item [Big Goblin Bone], Tier Two, qualified!"

"Young man, you are quite capable, not even at Tier One, yet able to clear a Tier One Abyssal Dungeon alone. Have you considered joining the army?"

The female soldier, while recording the information on the tablet, had her standard smile gradually turn genuine as she looked at Mo Qingchen with a hint of warmth in her eyes.

Recruiting talent for the army was also one of the tasks for these logistics personnel.

This young man seemed like he had just awakened as an Apprentice Beastmaster, and his Guardian Beast talent couldn't be lower than B-level, or else he wouldn't have been able to clear the Tier One [Goblin Forest] Abyssal Dungeon at Zero Tier.

The female soldier held Mo Qingchen in high regard, believing that possessing a B-level or higher talent beast wasn't enough to single-handedly clear a Tier One Abyssal Dungeon; it required extremely strong combat intuition.

Moreover, the female soldier had just received a message from the officer stationed at the dungeon's entrance.

A photo from a 30-degree angle showed Mo Qingchen and Mo Jin, one person and one insect, together.

The female soldier, naturally glancing at Mo Qingchen's physique, estimated his height to be between 1.8 to 1.9 meters, so the Great Needle Bee he stored in the Abyss Pattern was conservatively estimated at 2 to 2.2 meters tall.

This indicated the Great Needle Bee was undoubtedly a mutant individual, with its talent highly likely reaching A-level.

She remembered that the highest recorded Great Needle Bee in the Empire's records was B-level, with a maximum height of 1.6 meters, reaching Tier Seven strength.

Within the same creature group, an oversized individual didn't necessarily have greater combat power, but its talent was certainly higher, which applied to most exotic beast races.

The Great Needle Bee race precisely suited this discovered rule.

Considering this, the female soldier felt a bit envious.

Just becoming an Apprentice Beastmaster and having an A-level Guardian Beast meant he could at least grow into an Intermediate Beastmaster unless an accident happened, a Tier Four at minimum.

Since the onset of the Beast Taming Era, it had been ten years, and most Beastmasters were still lingering at Basic Tier One to Three, with only a few advancing to higher levels.

This young man's chance of becoming a prominent figure in the future was very high.

Having the favor of recommending someone would be beneficial for her future development as well.

"Thank you, but I don't have plans to join the army for now. I plan to further my education at Beast Taming University first."

Mo Qingchen politely declined.

In the Beast Taming Era, soldiers defending against beast tides, monster tides, and high-tier exotic beasts, protecting the Empire and its people, though admirable and respectable, was indeed a high-risk profession.

With his current pitiful strength, such a high-risk job was not suitable for him at all.
