My Weekly Refreshing Mentor Spirit

Chapter 123: Twelve Hours in Hell

The rows of cannons and tanks from the City Defense Army watched in horror at the giant beast that appeared behind them.

It was a monster larger, stronger, and more powerful than any giant beast that had appeared before. Just standing there, it filled countless City Guard Army members with terror, making them forget to breathe.

While other giant beasts resembled mutated, enlarged versions of animals, this monster looked like something straight out of science fiction. Its body was covered with metallic, shiny scales and blades that glinted in the twilight, resembling the finest armor.

From afar, the sunset and twisted clouds behind it seemed to form a Great Light Wheel.

The Zero Super Beast, the first Super Beast in history, also known as the strongest Super Beast ever. It first appeared in Lanhai City seven years ago, requiring humanity's ultimate nuclear weapon to destroy it along with the entire Lanhai City.

For some reason, seeing the faintly visible Great Light Wheel gave them an urge to worship it.

"Attention all defense forces, this is the Councilman. Please assist the Zero Super Beast with all your might!" came the voice of the councilman over the communicator.

"I beg you!"

"Roar!" The giant beast, resembling an evil lizard, looked at the Zero Super Beast with an angry, ferocious roar. Rather than retreating, it resisted the pressure from its DNA and charged angrily at the Zero Super Beast, stirring up a tornado of wind and fire.

"Buzz," a crescent Light Blade instantly flashed from the Zero Super Beast's hand. The hundred-meter-long vertical Beheading Blade split the evil lizard in two, extending into the distant group of giant beasts behind, showering them in blood.

With just one strike, the vertical Beheading Blade carved a ravine stretching hundreds of kilometers forward on the earth, slicing, cutting, and chopping everything in its path effortlessly.

To the soldiers of the City Guard Army behind, this scene was nothing short of witnessing a Miracle.

A 60-meter-level giant beast was already at a level where they prepared their last words.

In battles against giant beasts, they understood these monsters felt no pain and did not fear gunpowder or explosions. Even a 300MM siege cannon struck them, most giant beasts could withstand it and forcibly dismantle the cannons.

Only by completely blowing them to pieces would those brutes stop.

However, within this short hour, they faced a hundred such giant beasts simultaneously. The tsunami-like pressure completely collapsed the entire defense line and arsenal, making them charge towards destruction without preparation like fools knowing they were doomed.

But now, a higher, stronger, more powerful Super Beast stood before them. Just the one strike of the Beheading Blade splitting the terrifying giant beast in half brought a raining blood across the sky.

The indescribable sense of security and the shock from such powerful strength seemed to be the last straw breaking their inner defense line. As they looked at the Zero Super Beast, the beast looked back at them and gave a thumbs-up in the sunset.

"Assist the Zero Super Beast with all your might!" the defense force commander shouted over the communicator.

"Okay!"

After reorganizing, cannons and fighter jets resumed assisting the Zero Super Beast's attack, ignoring the occasional earthquakes in the Imperial Capital and the unknown creatures beneath.

They only knew that if this last line of defense fell, the millions of people behind them would become food for these giant beasts.

Cannons assembled, fighter jets were rapidly refueled and equipped with more effective depleted uranium warheads against giant beasts.

The Salamander Giant Beast hid in skyscrapers, leaping out to spray a violent jet of water as the Zero Giant Beast passed.

Yet the flying Light Wheel easily sliced through the water jet, cutting the Salamander Giant Beast horizontally in half.

"More giant beasts!" came a voice from the loudspeaker on a fighter jet as if to warn the Zero Super Beast.

The head was a hybrid of a jackal and a hound, with rows of fangs exposed. The giant beast, emitting a foul stench, stood on the city wall with terrifying jumping power.

Seventy meters long and weighing sixty thousand tons, the Fear Wolf Giant Beast nimbly dodged the fighter jet's depleted uranium shells, landing right on the approaching army convoy.

It shouldn't be called a giant beast, but a Second Generation Super Beast, a giant beast evolved from consuming the flesh of the numbered Super Beasts. It might not have human-like thoughts, but its power far exceeded ordinary giant beasts, barely different from Super Beasts.

Rubbish-like buildings, thundering giant beasts, and panicked human armies composed a terrifying, desperate scene in the city, showcasing the most terrifying plot.

However, the next moment, a massive ship descended from the sky as though traversing time and space. A twisted rift tore through the fabric of space-time, and a gigantic sailboat charged out from the rift like a wild horse detached from its reins.

This was a majestic ship over fifty meters high, with towering three masts, clouds of white sails, and intricately carved bronze hull, appearing above the head of the Fear Wolf Super Beast. The ship, reminiscent of ancient fifty-meter-high wooden warships, clashed with this world but appeared out of nowhere, smashing into its head.

Like a long spear thrown by God, the ship overturned the Fear Wolf Super Beast, crashing it into a skyscraper.

"What is that... thing?" The people from the City Guard Army couldn't believe a wooden ship was flying in the sky or that it even knocked over a Second Generation Super Beast-level creature!

If not on this battlefield, they might have slapped themselves to see if they were awake or if the stimulants in their energy drinks were too much.

But this was no dream. The Celestial Thunder traversed time and space and reappeared on the battlefield of the Otherworld.

Inside the ship, the drums of war sounded, and the resounding shouts seemed like warriors from myths returning, composing a new era's epic on this monster-filled battlefield.

However, the Fear Wolf Super Beast wasn't the only enemy. Subsequently, two more Second Generation Super Beasts appeared.

A semitransparent Jellyfish Super Beast hovered in mid-air, and a Centipede Super Beast attempted to attack from underground.

The Celestial Thunder battled the Fear Wolf, while the steps of the Zero Giant Beast were completely halted by these two creatures.

"Ha, even two are not my match."

Xue Dili's voice came through, and in the hands of Zero Super Beast, an eighty-meter-long sword glistening with cold light appeared in an instant.

Then, it assumed the starting stance of the standard Imperial Swordsmanship.

A monster over eighty meters tall assuming this swordsmanship starting stance that only humans could use left many people stunned.

In that instant, the Centipede Super Beast felt a searing pain on its back and emitted an angry huff from its throat.

Primitive wild instincts drove it to struggle and counterattack, as its powerful mouthparts came attacking.

However, in the next second, the long sword of Zero cleaved it in half at the waist, with the severed back half struggling incessantly on the ground.

The Jellyfish Super Beast also started to assist, and not only that, yet another giant turtle covered in spores charged at Xue Dili.

"Think that with three, I can't hold you back?"

But it wasn't just these few: a giant owl bird monster circled in the sky, and a frost-covered giant lizard also watched with covetous eyes.

Five Second Generation Super Beast Level monsters, each weighing tens of thousands of tons, each with their own special abilities, thoroughly encircled Zero Super Beast.

And behind them, dozens of ordinary Giant Beasts were still rushing over.

The sky was filled with blood-like crimson.

"Am I supposed to be scared with five?"

The long sword in Zero's hand emitted a faint glowing light.

The clash between Super Beasts, the bombardment of cannons and aircraft, in the sky below the sunset erupted into matchless slaughter, playing out the most primitive and violent battles here.

...

"Ronald, let's escape together, flee to other cities..." The young lady grasped the hand of the timid boy, even at this airport they could see in the distance that battlefield among monsters as if a myth had descended.

"I'm sorry, I have to stay..." This time, the timid boy's eyes were incredibly resolute.

"Sorry, young lady, I have reasons that leave me no choice." Having saved his young lady, Ronald turned and left the helicopter, stepping toward that battlefield as well.

"Mom and Dad, you evacuate first, I'm waiting for the teacher to come back..." Wu Li waved goodbye to her parents. Although she knew she was of little use, she followed along.

At that moment, the three little ones saw their teacher transform into the Zero Super Beast that had appeared in their sights multiple times, advancing toward the battlefield.

Except for Cloud Star, perhaps at this moment, they finally understood why each time the teacher waved from afar, and why each time he returned with wounds, realizing what kind of things he was fighting...

With those, Giant Beasts!

"You already knew the teacher was Zero, didn't you?" Ronald looked at Cloud Star beside him.

At this moment, here, there was no one else, all the people of the Imperial Capital either praying for the arrival of a miracle in the shelters or already prepared to flee this city.

"Yes," Cloud Star said, "And, I will stay here, becoming the last line of defense, resisting any stragglers trying to get through to the end."

"So, I should have guessed, the end of the Magic Ring, is the Giant Beast..."

At this last crossroad, Cloud Star gripped his heart, and in the next moment, he transformed into a forty-meter level Giant Beast, one that Wu Li and Ronald were familiar with, the very one that attacked them on the overpass.

"Hide behind me..." the Giant Beast spoke in human words.

...

Amidst the billowing dust and smoke, the roars of the Giant Beast faded into the distance, signaling the end of an epic struggle.

The battlefield was strewn with wreckage, rivers of blood ran, smoke curled in the air, heavy and acrid.

Bodies lay crisscrossed, some Giant Beasts with severed limbs, some with their chests and bellies gouged out, blood staining the earth and reddening the clouds.

Survival and death, on this battlefield, sketched out brutal yet vivid scenes.

Amid this desolation and ruin, a blood-covered Giant Beast stood among the wreckage, next to a teetering tall building, in the distance were gazes filled with gratitude.

The crowd looked from afar.

Through the entire night, the corpses of hundreds of Giant Beasts lay scattered across the land.

As night dispersed, the sunlight fell on the Zero Super Beast, with the Celestial Thunder reduced to wreckage, the heroes could only play a supportive role on this Giant Beast battlefield, no one anticipated the battle to be so harrowing.

In these Hellish 12 hours, a total of 342 Giant Beast corpses...
