My Weekly Refreshing Mentor Spirit

Chapter 184: The Evil Spirit of Xue Dili

"Lovecraft? Who? Are they famous?" Austin asked, puzzled, wondering why this summoned evil spirit thought of itself as well-known.

Xue Dili: "..."

Evil Spirit: "..."

After pondering for a moment, Xue Dili understood. The name "Lovecraft" is actually an abbreviation of the founder of the Cthulhu Mythos, H.P. Lovecraft, akin to splitting a name into separate components. When you call someone by such a truncated version, most people wouldn't know who you're referring to.

But for this evil spirit, it was likely just an embodiment of the fear people held towards "Cthulhu," rather than Mr. Carter or Mr. Lovecraft.

Xue Dili was taken aback because his perception indicated that this masked figure, claiming to be "Lovecraft," was Tier Four!

Not just a potential Tier Four, but a true Tier Four that, even when using Fantasy Manifestation, could rapidly drain more than half of Xue Dili's magic power, and he wasn't weak among the Tier Fours either.

No wonder those fallen mystic scholars were fanatical about this power. Wendigo was a potential Tier Four, and now the masked figure they first attempted to summon was also Tier Four. What about other evil spirits?

He didn't believe that the fallen mystic scholars only had one potential Tier Four, Wendigo. There must be more evil spirits. Xue Dili imagined the enemies he might face: Chainsaw Man? Jason? Thin Ghost? Or perhaps the Clown?

With this in mind, Xue Dili started to feel a headache. The fallen mystic scholars, with their sheer influence, were turning the entire world into one of strange tales. His enemies this time might not just be simple vegetative beings, but strange tales formed by the aggregation of fear.

"Hello, Mr. Lovecraft," Xue Dili extended his hand, speaking.

"Hello, a genius capable of creating such a technique. It's a pity I appear in the world as an evil spirit. If only I could manifest as a Heroic Spirit." The masked man scrutinized the other through hollow eyes.

Xue Dili merely shrugged. The next moment, he summoned Birdman Armor, and soon broadcasted to contact Odysseus.

Soon enough, the hollow shell of Birdman Armor began to move; this was Odysseus possessing the armor.

"Another reconnaissance and intelligence issue?" Odysseus knew his role well. He wasn't combat-oriented, stronger than only Austin among them, who had just entered the magical field. However, in information gathering, no one here could match this despicable guy.

Through a magic contract, Xue Dili could temporarily trust Mr. Lovecraft, and with Odysseus as a backup, he didn't have to worry about the old mystic scholar suddenly dying on him.

He directly set up a barrier and began exchanging the intelligence they currently had with everyone present.

Information on ultra-ancient creatures, fallen warped mystic scholars, vegetative beings, Divine Wood Rebirth ceremony, infant sacrifices, parasitic desolate fungus on ordinary people worldwide... Xue Dili shared it all.

He noticed both Odysseus and old Mr. Lovecraft seemed deep in thought. Even though they weren't from this world, they might be more proficient in handling intelligence than Xue Dili himself.

"For now, you three form a group, focusing on investigating the fallen mystic scholars and preparing any necessary rituals," Xue Dili began implementing earlier plans. "I've just investigated the Special Service Bureau, next, I'll try my luck with the FBI and CIA."

There wasn't much issue among the three. The old mystic scholar remained content as a liaison for the fallen mystic scholars, while Odysseus took on the work of intelligence gathering. As for Mr. Lovecraft, he served as their safety net.

Odysseus and Austin were too weak, one being Tier Two and the other just approaching Tier Three. Xue Dili really didn't trust them, so having the Tier Four Mr. Lovecraft as a backup was reassuring.

"Wait, aren't you going to perform an Evil Spirit Summoning? At least then we'd have another Mythic-level ally," Austin proposed, after being instructed about Xue Dili's tier rankings, now understanding how foolish it was for a Hero Level novice like him to challenge a near-mythic opponent.

He'd thought he could go toe-to-toe with Wendigo, only to be broken in five minutes.

"Me?" Xue Dili was momentarily stunned.

He hadn't really considered it, as he was rather versatile. If he genuinely lacked assistance, he could capture a few small animals and summon the Celestial Thunder.

"Since I'm here..." Xue Dili began setting up a ritual again with the old mystic scholar.

They hadn't quite figured out the summoning conditions yet. Unlike the highly specific call of Summoning of Heroic Spirits, Evil Spirit Summoning seemed more like it only responded to "wishes," as with the fallen mystic scholars who summoned the Americas' traditional monster, Wendigo.

And with Austin wanting to meet Lovecraft, it resulted in the summoning of the evil spirit "Lovecraft."

As for Xue Dili, what was it that he desired?

The Magic Array once again emitted an intense light. This time, the use of Fantasy Materialization seemed to be in a frenzy, with Xue Dili desperately drawing energy from the earth to power it and ensure the ritual's smooth execution.

What exactly had he summoned?

Xue Dili's heart began to feel a faint sense of expectation, as well as that intense urge to see his true inner self.

"So, appear, my Evil Spirit." Light shot up to the sky, and this time, unlike the plain effects of old Mr. Lovecraft, the sky was seemingly filled with Holy Light, as if the feathers of a white raven were drifting down.

If they hadn't summoned an Evil Spirit, this scene would really make Austin think they had opened the wrong summoning method and ended up in Heaven or Eden?

However, what appeared before everyone was a giant armored figure over ten meters tall, his whole body covered in a stunning armor interwoven with gold and white, and the terrifying greatsword over thirteen meters long in his hand exuded a sacred aura.

The most striking aspect was the gigantic wings of light stretched out behind him, wings formed from pure energy that would burst with streams of light in battle, like flames of judgment burning in the void, his face covered with a translucent divine faceplate, from which a cold blue-white light emitted from the eyes.

This scene shook everyone present, even old Mr. Lovecraft, whose mask revealed an indescribable confusion.

"Wait, is this your Evil Spirit Summoning?" Austin quipped from the side.

He couldn't see how this seemingly high-tier Heavenly Warrior had anything to do with the term "Evil Spirit." At least the old Mr. Lovecraft in his hand could be associated with "Cthulhu fear," but what's this?

Are there actually Fear Angels and Heavenly Saint Warriors in the world?

"How would I know him? Speaking of which, why is it this thing? I'd count it as an achievement if you summoned even a fake Zeus!" Xue Dili grumbled discontentedly to himself.

However, the next moment, as if hearing Xue Dili's muttered grumbles.

This towering Holy Warrior immediately flared up, saying with a puffed-out chest: "You inherently evil human brat, I will personally..."

He seemed ready to immediately raise the greatsword in his hand to swat Xue Dili like a mosquito.

"Wait..." Xue Dili found this behavior familiar, and he immediately reached out with empty hands to catch the swinging blade, the wind causing Austin's face to twitch, and then in the next moment, space distorted, and the entire tall Holy Warrior was retrieved by Xue Dili back into the Consciousness Space.

"Uh, there's no time to explain, let's start moving, old Austin, quickly rally some more Mystic Scholars, their intelligence is paramount, Odysseus, help out, and old Mr. Lovecraft, their safety is entrusted to you..." Xue Dili quickly issued orders as if taking care of last-minute matters, then opened a Teleportation Gate and swiftly left.

He moved so quickly that those around could not even say another word, and soon they saw nothing but the flickering Teleportation Gate closing.

"He left just like that? We still don't even know the name of that Holy Warrior, or what kind of Evil Spirit it corresponds to." Austin seemed deflated by his unsatisfied curiosity.

"Let's get started too, quickly contact your former mystic associates, right, be sure to contact those you absolutely trust, you get busy here, and I'll exchange some words with Mr. Odysseus." Old Mr. Lovecraft laid out the plans for Austin's next steps.

The old Mystic Scholar began to figure out how to find other absolutely trustworthy Mystic Scholars.

Meanwhile, Lovecraft and Odysseus came together.

"Let's introduce ourselves, you can call me 'Lovecraft,' originally an author of science fiction horror, who wrote literary works maintaining a global bestseller status for over a hundred years, but I'm not him, I'm merely an entity materialized from this particular fear." The masked man extended his hand, seeming mysterious beneath his mask, as if it was a vortex, sparking great curiosity about what was beneath it.

As if filled with endless mystifying allure, the openings beneath that mask could cause one to sink into them.

Odysseus immediately turned his head, saying, "Odysseus, from Ancient Greece, you might know me."

"Odysseus? The hero to whom the final epic 'Odyssey' entrusted Achilles' letter?" Old Mr. Lovecraft asked.

Odysseus was taken aback, knowing from his long rides across the internet on Blue Star that in the correct history, he was a ruthless strategist who led the Trojan horse massacre of Troy City. Why did this Evil Spirit claim he was the hero entrusted with the letter?

"Wait, what is the history in your world?" Odysseus realized the blind spot and hurriedly asked.

Then, Odysseus heard another epic, the story of the hero Xediles striking Zeus dead with a stone, and finally, Achilles returning home with the documents, leaving Odysseus speechless in shock, mouth agape.

He was silent for a long time before finally saying, "So, this world is our true future after all..."

"But damn it, which damn bastard wants to destroy this world again!" Odysseus's momentum surged at this moment, unable to suppress his murderous intent.

If in other worlds, they were more after fame, then this world, however, was their own world!

It was even possible that their descendants still lived in this world!
