My Weekly Refreshing Mentor Spirit

Chapter 205: The Calm Schoolgoer Xue Dili

It all lined up. Everything matched.

The Divine Wood landed in the Gulf of Mexico 65 million years ago, and Boston is not far from there. That meteor caused a catastrophic disaster, directly leading to the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Furthermore, the arrival of that primitive life form also marked the beginning of the long process of parasitism and growth of the gigantic entity known as Qijela, which latched onto Blue Star.

[If dinosaurs and other reptiles hadn't gone extinct on a large scale, they might have evolved into creatures reminiscent of the 'Giant Dragons' you see in other worlds, and due to the influence of the 'Venerable King,' they too could potentially change size at will, resembling the form of the 'Venerable King.']

The World Consciousness continued to speak.

Xue Dili: "..."

Well, I have Qijela to thank. If it hadn't for its arrival as a primitive life form wiping out the dinosaurs leaving only today's chickens, there wouldn't have been the historical moment when my ancestors, those scattered rats, emerged to become mammals...

And from the perspective appointed by my mom, the original world line should have seen a civilization akin to that of 'Giant Dragons,' but would every dragon have transformed into a 'Dragonian,' a civilization similar to the Venerable King?

If that were the case, those scattered ancestors of mine would probably still be hiding underground as scattered rats with no hope of emerging...

Looking at it that way, humans really should thank Qijela.

[While I may indeed have absorbed many fragments of that 'Venerable King,' most have likely settled deep within the Earth's core as energy. I'm not exactly sure how many remain, but now only the Divine Wood is left. Is there anything else you'd like to ask?]

"No, I think I understand. Goodbye."

When Xue Dili returned to his room, it was already past seven in the morning.

He quietly processed the information he received last night, only to feel that collecting too much intel in a short time is not necessarily a good thing.

He now knew that there was a Black Mist Council in the cosmos similar to a villain alliance and understood the situation on Fafnir's side, and through his mom's revelations, grasped the reasons behind several major world transformations and Qijela's birth.

In this light, it's only natural for Blue Star to produce several Tier Five organisms.

After all, according to the World Consciousness, no one knows how many fragments of the Venerable King are integrated into Blue Star's entire core, stabilizing its core energy and making it conducive to life's emergence.

Therefore, Xue Dili was also glad that he, alongside the Great Sage, managed to obliterate Zeus with their passionate combined skill, ending the Divine Era. Otherwise, who knows how many other Tier Five monsters he'd have to contend with now.

He withdrew his tired mind, weary from overthinking overnight, and as he descended the stairs, he smelled oil smoke.

In the kitchen, upon hearing footsteps, his aunt said directly: "Come have breakfast, plain noodles with a fried egg."

"Uh..." The simple and relational scene made Xue Dili scratch his head unexpectedly.

He quietly approached the dining table and saw a small bowl of noodles and an egg—such a simple breakfast comprised of basic carbs and protein, yet Xue Dili found it quite nice.

He just missed those hand-grab cakes from the two female knights at the school gate. He had been away for a few days, and he longed for those cakes that tasted like they came from a fairy tale world.

"Yeah, yeah, auntie, I'll go to class later. Feel free to watch TV or do whatever you need to," Xue Dili said, slurping his noodles.

"Add me on WeChat, in case you need something," his aunt said, pulling out her phone.

Xue Dili waited a moment as WeChat alerted: "You have a request from a user with the screen name 'Peaceful Flowering' to add you as a friend."

Her profile picture, it was a selfie with his aunt wearing a lady's hat beside a lotus pond. Even though his aunt didn't look that old, Xue Dili found the picture painfully cringeworthy, like a square dance aunt flaunting her beauty over the lotus flowers in the background.

Her face under the hat's brim was shaded... coupled with that user name 'Peaceful Flowering'...

Xue Dili: "..."

"You have added 'Peaceful Flowering' as a friend."

"Friend 'Peaceful Flowering' has sent a 'Gardenia Flower' emoji."

Xue Dili: "..."

"Okay then, put a note, and recently, the weather might cool down, wear more clothes before going out..." his aunt said half-heartedly but paused for a moment, looked at Xue Dili now, and seemed to scratch her unkempt hair,

"Forgot, you probably don't need to worry about the weather, just a habit I accidentally said..." she yawned, sitting at the table as she slowly ate her noodles too.

"I remember I used to always carry a jacket in my backpack as a kid?" Xue Dili casually asked while eating breakfast.

"Oh, that, but the other you didn't have that habit. There was one time in the first year of middle school when there was a sudden drop in temperature, and right before I reminded you to dress warmly, that kid was gone without a trace..." his aunt seemed to reminisce about old memories, her lips suddenly curving up,

"When I delivered clothes to school, that kid was barely able to wrap herself with another girl's borrowed clothes in class, yet she was still shivering like the ginger cat from Old Wang's house next door." Aunty seemed to smile as she recounted Xue Dili's childhood mishaps.

Xue Dili chuckled and continued eating.

So, that version of himself was so clueless as a child. Growing up at a relative's home taught him to live independently from a young age. He even prepared a week in advance with alternative plans, ensuring nothing went too wrong.

But it seemed that version of himself in that world didn't develop such a habit.

"I'm done eating, heading to school now. I'll be back around five in the afternoon," Xue Dili said.

"What do you want for dinner?"

"Anything's fine."

Xue Dili left home with big strides. After having breakfast, combined with his habit of turning a chunk of his textbook into a piece of bread every morning, he could only grab a pancake for lunch.

Actually, this kind of life isn't bad either.

Xue Dili quietly changed his online name to "Ordinary School-goer" and pedaled a shared bicycle towards school.

Suddenly, a moped rider came drifting towards him from the opposite direction, prompting Xue Dili to instinctively dodge. He wasn't afraid of getting into trouble himself, but worried about the other person hitting him and causing an accident.

The moped drifted past him, leaving Xue Dili stunned as he watched the moped speeding the wrong way at over 80 km/h during the morning rush. Secretly, he marveled at how Jiang City was indeed full of hidden talents.

"Hey, Lord God!" The moped rider suddenly stopped, turned his head, and looked at Xue Dili.

No way...

Suddenly, Xue Dili remembered; he was the youngest knight in Silver City, only about ten years old, even younger than the Princess. But now, seeing him cheerfully riding a moped and drifting in a "Yellow Robe," he had become a delivery rider.

"You..." On the sidewalk, Xue Dili wanted to make a comment but didn't know where to start.

"I'm out here helping with household expenses. Although the Princess somehow got some money, our expenses for restoring the kingdom are huge, and we recently spent a lot on new computers and electronic devices. The Little Princess is troubled, and we're doing our best to ease her worries." This kid, who seemed like a middle schooler, exuded a naive rural charm.

Xue Dili seemed to recall he was a small knight from the countryside, not a Royal Knight but from Silver City's city defense. When the Princess and the others escaped, he desperately held back the thorns and opened a side door.

Perhaps it was then that the Knight Commander thought this kid was loyal and took him along.

But how did his baby face pass the employment test?

"Uh, I initially wanted to work at a slaughterhouse or a construction site because they pay more, but those bosses wouldn't take me. In the end, I secretly registered as a delivery rider through the Knight Commander. Now, if I work hard, I can earn over a thousand a day, and I even have time to deliver goods for the Knight Commander." The small knight shyly smiled,

suddenly an order alert popped up on his phone, and he nervously said, "Sorry, this order is about to be late. I have to hurry! Lord God, let's chat when there's time!"

With that, his little electric steed seemed to leave a trail behind, and his dazzling driving skills left countless cars gridlocked on the road speechless.

Xue Dili: "..."

He knew how hard delivery riders work for money. For him to say he earns over a thousand a day means he runs over 400 orders...

Completing an order every two to three minutes, this is no ordinary small knight; he's practically a superhero!

He even drives a tractor to deliver goods for the Knight Commander when there's less work, and judging by this guy's attitude, he can probably drift with a tractor too...

Xue Dili slightly widened his mouth, showing he really can't understand these fairy tale creatures. Are they really willing to push themselves to the limit for the sake of restoring their kingdom?

This small knight almost monopolized a tenth of the delivery orders near Ke University.

And it seemed all their mopeds are modified by Old Watson, probably to save costs by using cheap second-hand parts and fixing them up himself, plus some enchantment and appeasement with magic, they're put on the road directly.

Even to save on electricity bills, Xue Dili suspected that Old Watson might be sneaking around using a Thunderbolt Technique to slowly charge them...

However, watching the knights from Silver City transform from robbers and land-grabbers to workers, Xue Dili felt a growing sense of accomplishment.

As long as it's legal work, Xue Dili felt it was good, including those two female knights live streaming and selling pancakes at the school gate. He thought if all the Otherworld folks who came to Blue Star followed the rules, that would be great.

But suddenly, he noticed Uncle Hat starting to chase after the speeding small knight...

Even with the motorcycle throttle maxed out, Uncle Hat couldn't catch up. The e-bike darted through the morning rush like a fish in water, skillfully dodging him, and the delivery remained intact as it sped away...

Xue Dili: "..."

Uh, this...
