My Weekly Refreshing Mentor Spirit

Chapter 212: Aftermath Demon Emperor

Xue Dili was stunned for a moment.

In an entire world, is there no one at the Mythic Level who can live past a hundred years old?

This data is simply too crazy. Xue Dili closed his eyes. The theoretical lifespan of the Legendary Level is over 150 years, and that's just for short-lived humans, while those at the Mythic Level, humans, can have lifespans of several hundred years.

Yet in their world, not a single person over a hundred years of the Mythic Level exists...

According to human lifespans, their world is equivalent to not having anyone over 30 years old.

He suddenly realized that things he took for granted might already be miracles that many worlds can only dream of but cannot attain.

"But, at least for the Mythic Level, their combat power shouldn't decline before they turn 200, right?" Xue Dili thought of the Great Sage. Although the Great Sage was a Demon, he was also a short-lived race. At over 300 years old, pure support could make him fearless against any God in Greece except Zeus.

"Do you think my family would let them live until their combat power declines?" the Old Demon King retorted sarcastically. His tone was very rude, but Xue Dili didn't think his words were harsh now, because he was already the most polite person in that War Frenzy World,

"You know, in our world, all races have evolved the ability to quickly heal from injuries, but the cost is a shortened lifespan," said the Old Demon King. "Because we are all squeezing our life force in exchange for temporary combat power."

"From 90 years old, cells gradually start to divide slowly, no longer having the recovery power of the young who can heal within a few days from injuries. Your peers either die in battle or become unable to wield weapons due to old injuries, becoming subjects of ridicule for younger people."

"At 100 years old, old injuries buried from childhood will make you wish for death every winter. The combat power gained from long-term cell stimulation will backfire at this point, causing you to become dim-sighted, hands constantly shaking, while young warriors who could be your grandchildren might laugh and throw you into a cesspit."

"Do you think they would choose to fight for their last bit of future glory at 90-something, or wait until they're over 100 to be toothless, wearing diapers, and relying on others to feed them?" the Old Demon King said little by little.

His speech was fast, and only after saying everything did he look at Xue Dili.

And Xue Dili indeed remained silent. He had never thought there truly existed a race that, during their youth, pushed their bodies to the limit, and thus found themselves full of injuries and sickness before even reaching half of their theoretical lifespan, forced to choose their own death when at the pinnacle of their combat strength.

The cruelty of that world, Xue Dili had only heard from the mouth of the Old Demon King, and only now did he truly feel a bit of it.

On Earth, that's a race that has to secure their future with their own death by the age of 30.

Even if their future merely equals ending up annihilating an enemy Mythic Level slightly younger than themselves or young warriors together with themselves, it's still considered a worthy choice for their race.

He thought again about the experiences of the Old Demon King, who at six years old went to battle against a bunch of adults on the opposite side, wielding weapons longer than his body and fighting desperately in sub-zero temperatures.

His sister, brother, sister, parents all died right in front of him, and even when they were dying, they didn't tell him to live well but asked him to avenge them and kill all the enemies...

"Military meritocracy..." Xue Dili uttered a term.

"No, even harsher and more extreme than the cruelest systems and ideologies in your world... even those races that might have originally loved peace are forced to become more extreme and insane in that environment..."

"Because if you're not insane, you're dead!"

The Old Demon King's words made Xue Dili speed up his eating.

No need for preaching or motivation, merely narrating everything about their world flatly, and Xue Dili already felt an oppressive inability to breathe.

Just like knowing in the Old Demon King's world, there existed a race originally loving peace called the "Spirit Race", akin to elemental spirits in nature, yet under such a high-pressure environment, each elemental spirit learned to detonate all their magic power themselves.

Entirely using themselves as a bomb, they would rush and play kamikaze in wars.

Naturally, this race was later exterminated, exterminated by the Demon Race to which the Old Demon King belonged.

...

For a long time afterward, the Old Demon King continued his high-intensity binge-watching and knowledge absorption, while Xue Dili lay in front of the computer, idly watching everything on it.

In such a world, he had no means. Xue Dili couldn't perform spiritual control, unable to change the minds of all the people, naively believing that everyone would not hope for war once their material needs were met... That was impossible.

It's like how the Old Demon King had already basically ensured everyone's basic food and shelter, yet ironically, his confidants were the first to betray him.

Moreover, they didn't consider their betrayal wrong but believed the Old Demon King first betrayed them because he abandoned their ancestors' glory, halted the mud-sweeping war, making those spawned from war lose their life's value.

In that world, only the Old Demon King could save it himself, and even this wasn't achievable overnight.

Just like his initial plan, four generations? Five generations? I'm afraid only after so many generations, when the whole world no longer falls into the fear of a dark forest due to war and mutual conflict, will people's perceptions gradually begin to change.

Even so, this peace probably won't last very long. Once everyone gets accustomed to peace, an era of population explosion is bound to begin. However, following the population explosion, the resources that barely sustained the operation of society will inevitably be insufficient for the distribution required by the population growth.

So, inevitably, some people will start to be unable to survive, and then they will surely think of the methods used by their ancestors to begin exploiting their bodies in exchange for power, in order to fight for a future where they can continue to live.

Such unstable factors will increase more and more until the entire lower strata become a powder keg ready to explode at the slightest ignition. One fuse will ignite and consume the original peace at its root.

This is the dynastic cycle...

And just when Xue Dili was lost in deep thought, the voice of the old Demon King suddenly came: "Is there more?"

"Hmm?" Xue Dili responded with a puzzled look.

"I finished it, saw that Ying Ziyin was beheaded, and I can completely guess the remaining outcome... there's no need to continue reading..." said the old Demon King, handing the phone back to Xue Dili.

"You're quite fast." Xue Dili took the phone and began to transmit the seeds prepared in advance, ranging from the Han dynasty to recent history. When the phone started downloading, Xue Dili asked, "What do you think? Can you now analyze the fatal mistakes the First Emperor made from an observer's perspective?"

The old Demon King closed his eyes. He was recalling his own life. Xue Dili's request for him to analyze the First Emperor's failure was also, in a way, analyzing his own failure.

"First, arrogance; he did not exterminate the nobles and unstable elements of the other Six Kingdoms..."

"Hmm."

"Second, greed; spent a lot of time and resources seeking immortality..."

"Third, the issue of heir..."

"Fourth, issues with the original military-industrial system of the Qin Kingdom..."

"Fifth, the contradiction between an advanced system and their extremely backward productivity at the time..."

...

Each time the old Demon King listed a point, it was as if he was cutting open his own problems with a knife.

Because the mistakes made by the First Emperor, he essentially made all of them, and even more severely than the First Emperor. It was only because of his great power that, if their world were a world without magic, the mistakes he made would have exploded in less than ten years.

He now could objectively view the First Emperor, but as someone who was once in the middle of it all, he completely couldn't view his own actions correctly.

"The ancestors of your civilization are truly great; there are those who meticulously record every pitfall and detour in history for future generations to reference," the old Demon King said, besides expressing his admiration.

This stunned Xue Dili for a moment but then he smiled.

"Yes, that's why I always say history progresses in a spiral, not a smooth path. All the costs will become valuable experiences for future generations. Just like after you leave, some people in your world are bound to want to take the same road as you, and they will learn from your lessons, avoiding making the same mistakes," Xue Dili said to the old Demon King.

"Heh, but they don't have the time. Now I am already in the form of the 'Post-Mortem Demon Emperor'," the old Demon King laughed, recalling a prior suggestion Xue Dili had jokingly mentioned, saying, "By the way, don't call me 'Demon King' anymore. That's rather unpleasant; call me 'Demon Emperor'!"

Xue Dili: "..."

It seems every person from the Otherworld who has ridden the wave ends up in some sort of serious ailment.

Either they become a madman, or they frequently state memes that even Xue Dili can't maintain a straight face over, and there's a high possibility they're just nonsensical jokes.

Thankfully, my aunt only turned into someone who loves to sleep, dance in the plaza, and secretly play "Drunken Butterfly" at night.

"I have another piece of profound history here, do you want to take a look?" Xue Dili asked, naturally wanting to show the history of the Tita Civilization to the old Demon King... now it's appropriate to call him the old Demon Emperor.

"Hmm?"

"That's a very healing history from another world." Xue Dili took out a video that had been edited beforehand, originally intended only for the people of the Silver City, and handed it to the old Demon Emperor.

Likewise, there was also the entire history and culture of the Tita Civilization.
