My Weekly Refreshing Mentor Spirit

Chapter 61: So-Called Heroes

"Woo..."

The cloth was forcibly stuffed into his mouth, and Hector pleaded with Zeus, "Heavenly Father Zeus, forgive this child's mistake, he is just too young and was deceived, only caring about himself. I only hope you can leave him to me to handle."

"As you wish." Zeus did not care about this minor interruption.

Achilles was whom he intended to nurture as the next hero, but if he remained ungrateful, Zeus would not be lenient.

For now, the most important thing was to lift the curse and complete the seven-day oath...

Zeus, with a group of mortal heroes and Hercules, went to the Netherworld, ignoring the chaos that already erupted on Olympus.

"Athena, I need an explanation." Apollo and the Moon God, the siblings, first questioned Athena.

"No time, we need to set out as well." But Athena did not directly reply, instead saying.

"Where to?"

"The Netherworld." Athena resolutely stated, "This is our final battle, to eliminate our father once and for all there!"

The last word "father" was said through clenched teeth.

...

At the entrance of the main hall of Olympus, the witch Calypso idly lingered.

She was not permitted to enter Olympus, only able to wait at the entrance for the heroes inside to complete the legend.

At that moment, she began to imagine heroes being favored by the gods, carrying glory back home, perhaps even finding happiness after marriage.

What name should the eldest son have? Xediles probably prefers girls, so perhaps more daughters, and a younger son, making the eldest a King of a country and the youngest a hero when the time comes...

Where should they settle? Ilias Island? Or Athens? What if the eldest does not want to be a King?

Right, little niece Medea once said, never let any woman near your man, never give him any chance to contact other women...

She already started fantasizing about the names of her grandchildren in her mind.

She knew nothing of what transpired inside the Divine Hall.

Suddenly, several gods walked out, their eyes only showing cold indifference: "Shape-shifting witch Calypso, do not take a step from here until Heavenly Father Zeus returns to deal with you!"

Calypso was stunned, and a strong sense of panic suddenly arose.

"What happened to Xediles? What happened to my Xediles?" she frantically asked the god.

The ominous premonition expanded, even beginning to occupy her entire heart.

...

The voyage from the Nether River Mouth at Alypotripa Island to Olympus was a full six-day journey, but under Zeus's blessing, the Celestial Thunder almost reached here in just a few breaths.

Upon entering the Netherworld, Zeus finally calmed down, feeling he might have made a mountain out of a molehill.

Without the Second Generation God King's curse upon him, he would be invincible in Greece even without these mortal heroes and Hercules accompanying him.

Absolute resilience, invincible, the strongest!

"Hercules, my child, guard the Nether River Mouth, and do not let anyone enter." Zeus said to Hercules.

Draped in golden lion skin, Hercules, whose face was mostly hidden under the fur, responded in silence, standing quietly at the Nether River Mouth.

The remaining mortal heroes surrounded Zeus, heading towards the depths of the Netherworld.

In reality, half of these mortal heroes were his own descendants; Zeus saw traces of his own blood in them.

Sure enough, only these children were his true entourage, to become angels in the new world to come.

The Netherworld was truly quiet, Zeus marveled inwardly.

The Nether River had been filled, initiating the Seven Days of Destruction, as Greece gradually marched towards doomsday, yet it remained quiet here, not even sensing the presence of his brother Hades.

Zeus's sole concern was that Hades would exploit the unique aspects of Xue Dili's rules, slyly attacking him in the Netherworld.

However, after being wounded by Xue Dili's earlier strike, Zeus's caution heightened exponentially.

Upon arriving at the Netherworld, he immediately used the half-body of Typhon under his control to sense Hades's location; if Hades held Xue Dili's regulations, he'd leave the Netherworld instantaneously and release the Titans imprisoned in the Abyss through Typhon's half-body.

Zeus manifested and occupied Typhon's consciousness, controlling half the sky and also half the Netherworld.

In his plan, the Netherworld would transform into Hell in the new world, an extension of his supreme authority and a critical part of it.

Now, Typhon's feedback suggested that Hades was not within the Netherworld.

This was the perfect opportunity.

...

On the Celestial Thunder, Hercules released Achilles, who was tied to the mast.

The moment Achilles regained movement, he lunged like a mad dog, but was halted with ease by Hercules's single hand.

"Hercules! Great hero of Greece! Tell me why! Why!" He seemed to lose his mind, attempting futilely to strangle Hercules with his bare hands.

"Calm down!"

Hercules slapped Achilles, finally bringing this twelve-year-old out of his rage.

"This is what Athena told me, the real plan."

...

The night before Celestial Thunder's departure, the night when the true plan was discussed.

The scene was frightfully silent.

"In my homeland, there is such a story," Xue Dili said, "it is a story of a 'hero' who took his best friend's head and dagger to assassinate the king, with the friend's head, the king trusted him, and he successfully got close."

"Did the 'hero' who attempted to assassinate the king succeed?" someone asked.

"No, he failed. The one who went with him was not a hero, but a coward who wet himself on the spot, and he lacked martial skill, ultimately dying by the king's guard's hand."

"So..." the heroes were puzzled, but suddenly, they looked at Xue Dili in astonishment, at that loveliest person in all of Greece, bewildered why Xue Dili proposed this idea.

"I have a workable plan," Xue Dili said, "take my head and deceive Zeus into entering the Netherworld."

"Not possible!"

"Too risky."

"Who is going to kill Zeus in the Netherworld after you're dead?"

Everyone objected, even Athena, whether from sentiment or reality, especially since in Xue Dili's story, the hero who attempted regicide also failed.

"No, trust me." Xue Dili smiled, "I can ensure I'll remain in 'living' form even in the Netherworld."

In Greece, the boundary of life and death was exceedingly blurred, especially with the Great Sage as his rear support.

"Trust me, everyone. And your task is to, before all the gods..." Xue Dili paused, "kill me as mortals! Then bring my head to the Netherworld."

...

This was the true plan, to lure Zeus with death, a plan to enter the game alone.

Achilles was stunned, his eyes welling with bloody tears, he finally comprehended why along the way the heroes often showed looks of weakness and suffering, while Xue Dili encouraged and comforted them like a spiritual guide.

When killing the Scylla Sea Monster, when facing the Sea Siren, when reaching the foot of Mount Olympus, it was always so...

He once thought these heroes were no different, afraid of death.

But now he knew, the pain of heroes was not their own death, but killing their dearest friend before the gods!

"What about them..." Achilles asked, his voice trembling.

"Zeus is very cautious, if Hades or I were in the Netherworld, he would not dare to go in." Hercules said,

"So when Zeus senses something amiss and tries to flee the Netherworld, someone must hold him, even if it's just for a breath, I will have enough time to trap Zeus inside." Hercules continued with heavier news,

"If I die, I am confident I can hold Zeus for a few breaths, by then, Athena, Hades, Apollo, Artemis... all our gods would have arrived, cornering Zeus and Typhon in the Netherworld. Once that hero Xediles delivers the strike capable of killing Zeus, our deaths would be completely worth it."

Clad in golden lion skin, Hercules seemed relieved, he wore all his divine armor today, the lion skin, Hydra Bow, Hydra Poison Arrows, and so on...

Near death, he seemed to recall much of his past, but in the end, there was only this sense of relief, and the courage to face death and doom.
