My Life with Narration

Chapter 117: Auntie Can You Please Stop Making Uncle Su Work Overtime?

The so-called dinner appointment was actually just keeping Boss Shen company for overtime.

Although she didn't mention it in front of everyone, Shen Yi sent him a WeChat message separately, specifically reminding him not to leave after work.

"What's with that expression? I'm treating you to dinner, and you're still not happy. Which boss cares as much about their employees as I do?" Shen Yi said with a laugh when she saw his reluctant expression.

Even though they were in the same company, with just a wall separating them, Shen Yi could only start recharging after work.

In simple terms, this 18,000 salary was not only for Da Huang's contribution to the company, but also for Su Qing's overtime pay.

"Dear Auntie Shen, you have me staying for overtime every day; sooner or later, everyone in the company will find out about our relationship," Su Qing said helplessly.

If others found out that he knew Shen Yi, then his situation at the company would be unbearable. Although there might be some privileges, he really didn't like that feeling.

When he first graduated and joined a small company, there was an employee who was a relative of the boss. Everyone was polite to that employee on the surface, but in reality, they were distant and didn't interact like they did with other colleagues.

Moreover, if their relationship were really exposed, wouldn't that make him the one who got in through the back door?

After all, Su could always believe that he's making a living on his abilities, especially since he recently made a lot in the stock market, making him stand taller.

"Oh? Then tell me, what kind of relationship do we have?" Shen Yi asked with some curiosity.

"No relationship, really," Su Qing replied in a gloomy manner, like a disgruntled wife. He was quite content with his job, as Da Huang was the one doing the work, and didn't want to end his working life just yet.

But if it really came to that, he would consider quitting, and revise his contract with Shen Yi to come whenever there was work needed.

Hearing this, Shen Yi smiled and comforted him, "Alright, I got it. Be good, eat up, and I'll drive you home later."

"By the way, I might be renting a place in your complex soon, so we could end up being neighbors," she added.

Hearing this, Su Qing was startled, then asked, "Did you contact my landlord?"

He had just sent his landlord's WeChat to Shen Yi yesterday when he got home; it was just a casual thing and he didn't think much of it, but it turned out she acted quickly.

"Yes, I told him I wanted to rent a place near the company, money is no issue. He recommended a few, but I wasn't satisfied. Then I asked if there were any empty ones in your complex, and he said to wait a couple of days, to buy a set and have results by this weekend."

Su Qing was a bit embarrassed hearing this; it really was typical of his landlord's character to buy apartments for rent at the drop of a hat. Indeed, we really don't understand the lives of the wealthy.

"Congratulations, but the odds of being neighbors are small. My landlord said my adjacent apartment was already purchased," said Su Qing.

He really didn't understand the thoughts of the rich: why would they not live in their nice villas and rent an apartment instead, just because it's a bit far? It's not like they don't have cars. If it were him, even dying shouldn't matter as long as he could die in his villa.

Today, Shen Yi did not work overtime; she just left him at the office to have a meal. By 6 o'clock, they were already leaving work.

"As usual, clean up the trash inside,"

Shen Yi said while petting the dog.

Su Qing rolled his eyes: "I knew it."

He had no choice; he did eat for free, so doing a bit of work seemed fair. Saying that, he began tidying up, but when he cleaned the trash bin, he suddenly noticed some familiar plastic packages inside.

"Wait, don't..." Shen Yi suddenly realized something as she saw him cleaning the trash bin, and shouted, but it was too late.

"Is this... Okamoto 0.01? Sister Bao'Er, is that you?" Su Qing asked while holding an unopened plastic package.

"You... hurry up and throw that away!" Shen Yi's face turned red, as finding this in her own office and having him take it out in front of her was slightly embarrassing for the mature lady.

As she spoke, she reached out, trying to grab the package from him.

Seeing this, Su Qing raised his hand over his head and laughed, "No, let me see, ultra-thin and breathable—oh, this one's textured. Wow, you're quite adventurous!"

At this moment, Su Qing finally managed to have something on Aunt Shen. He quickly took out his phone to record evidence, ready to see how arrogant she would be in the future.

"Give it to me, hurry!"

"Nope, ask nicely. Call me brother and I'll give it back."

"Dream on. Stop fooling around, look at the time. Don't you want to go home? Be good and put it back."

"Tsk, tsk, tsk, I never thought you'd be like this, Auntie Shen."

Hearing the conversation inside the office, Deng Jie stood outside blushing, thinking her boss really had some tricks up her sleeve. What a bold move! Indeed, young people are different—they have guts.

Thinking this, Deng Jie sensibly turned to leave, realizing her job as a driver might soon be over and she could focus on other matters.

Ten minutes later, a brand-new Mercedes was slowly driving down the street, while Su Qing was pedaling hard on a shared yellow bike along the sidewalk.

"Oh, dear, are you giving up already? If you're really too tired, just take the subway. It's fine; nothing to be ashamed of," Shen Yi shouted from the car window, seeing Su Qing sweating profusely.

Meanwhile, Da Huang was comfortably sitting in the back seat, enjoying the breeze. Seeing this, it also barked: "Woof!"[Without me, you're nothing!]
