My Life with Narration

Chapter 59: Su He’s Unexpected Visit

"Mr. Xu, President Shen didn't agree!"

In an office, Wang Bo was respectfully reporting the situation to his boss, Xu Feng, who was sitting behind the desk.

Upon hearing this, Xu Feng's face darkened significantly, and he began tapping his fingers lightly on the table in silence.

For a long while, just as Wang Bo thought the boss was displeased with his work, Xu Feng spoke up: "She saw the proposal, right?"

"President Shen accepted it," Wang Bo quickly nodded.

With this, Xu Feng's expression improved a bit, then he continued: "Increase the business dealings between our company and theirs. At the beginning, it doesn't matter if we give up some advantages, even making some losses is fine, but we need to make them dependent on us. The key is to have control in our hands, you know what to do about that, right?"

Hearing this, Wang Bo nodded repeatedly. He understood the intricacies of business well enough to know when something appeared to be advantageous but was actually a trap.

A business battle bites a chunk of flesh without shedding blood, it's cruel, but that's the reality.

"Understood, boss. But with President Shen's vision, she might see through this."

To this, Xu Feng took a deep breath and chuckled lightly: "If this were the capital, that'd be a problem, but this is Jiang City. She doesn't have enough personnel on her side, not many people she can rely on from the headquarters, and it takes more than six months to train new hires. She can't possibly keep an eye on everything. You should make some private contacts over there. Offering more rebates and kickbacks is no harm. You must deepen the business relationship. As for how to approach them, you know better than I do."

"Yes, boss! Oh, and about the young man you asked me to watch, I only found a possible address near the North City Suburb. President Shen personally drove him home." Wang Bo continued.

Hearing this, Xu Feng nodded to indicate he understood, then waved his hand. After Wang Bo left, a trace of worry appeared in his eyes.

For the past six months since he knew Shen Yi came to Jiangcheng City, he had been interested. No wonder, as Shen Yi was an ideal partner in terms of appearance, capability, and financial resources.

He had seen her back in the capital, but never had the chance to approach her. Now that she's in Jiang City, this presents a great opportunity.

If he could join forces with her, it would greatly benefit both their companies, and his company's financial troubles could be resolved.

His strategy involved pursuing Shen Yi while also entangling their companies' business interests, but now the first path seems problematic.

He noticed a distinct difference in how Shen Yi looked at that young guy compared to himself, so naturally, he had to investigate this variable in his plans.

After all, as a man capable of running a sizable company, he had encountered all sorts of women and never lacked attractive offers, but he needed someone who could support him in his career.

To put it simply, love for someone like him always comes with interests attached, to some extent at least, and it's not necessarily wrong; it's quite normal, actually.

Time flew by to Friday, June 5th, with the temperature in Jiangcheng City getting hotter day by day.

That day, Su Qing sat at his computer dealing with stocks, sporting dark circles and yawning.

In just over twenty days and a series of minor adjustments, his earning pace quickened significantly, with his funds steadily increasing.

Once he receives a bounty of a hundred thousand, combined with his principal, his earning speed would reach a whole new level.

Life was simple and joyful, except for the neighbor Old Wang, who inexplicably extended their domestic squabble from two minutes to an hour last night, a nuisance in their poorly soundproofed community.

Lately, Wang Xing had been busy job hunting and didn't have time to deal with him, while Li Zijun was engrossed with her police duties, barely touching the ground, and though Shen Yi was busy, she still sent him voice messages daily, thankfully without any incidents.

However, when things are expected to be uneventful, surprises often arise.

Bam Bam Bam

The sudden knocking on the living room door, and Su Qing opened it, only to see a completely unexpected guest before him.

"Second Uncle, your third brother and sister-in-law sent me to check on you. How are you doing? Miss me?"

Seeing Su He in a JK skirt, Su Qing felt utterly disrupted. "Second Uncle"? It had to be their drunken pledge with Uncle Li that the family found out about.

Then, with a bang, the door was instantly shut.

"Bro~ Bro!!"

"Open the door, open the door! Don't hide inside quietly; I know you're home!"

"Aunt Liu said you swore brotherhood with Uncle and pledged to take beating equally."

"She also mentioned matching Sister Jun with you, saying in the future we'd call him Dad, you'd be his second brother, and he'd be your second brother-in-law, and we'd each take care of our own families. Bro, did you hear that!!"

Su Qing:...

The neighborhood had terrible soundproofing, even during the day, but it couldn't withstand Su He's loud voice echoing in the hallway.

Alarmed, he hurriedly opened the door, yanking her inside and glaring angrily:

"Getting itchy again, huh? Keep shouting, and believe me, I'll beat you—Dad and Mom aren't around now!"

But Su He ignored him, running straight into his bedroom with eyes wide as saucers, observing intently.

"Hey, hey, hey, did you hear me?" Su Qing said helplessly.

When it came to this sister of his, sometimes he really wanted to strangle her, because she was just so damn annoying.

"Something's not right: the room is clean, no strange odors, and there are no signs of a woman living here. Aunt Liu said Sister Jun told her you were cohabiting with a girlfriend?" Su He asked curiously, seeming dissatisfied with her impromptu inspection.

Upon hearing this, Su Qing rolled his eyes dramatically. Why do all the women who come to his place say similar things?

Then he knocked on her head: "What do you mean by cohabiting? Your brother is pure and upright. Studious little lady, read more books and gossip less. It's holiday time, and you're not even revising properly—your high school exams are around the corner, aren't they?"

"Ouch," Su He whimpered, holding her head and pouting: "Bullying me isn't an achievement. Why don't you go talk to Mom if you're so capable?"

"My exams are the day after tomorrow; I've studied almost everything. I'm just relaxing these last two days, okay?"

Upon hearing this, Su Qing was taken aback and asked: "Exams the day after tomorrow?"

"Yes, today is the 5th; our exams are on the 7th. Bro, you didn't forget, did you?" Su He squinted at him.

Seeing him bewildered, she quickly changed her expression: "Brother must be tired, forgetting about his sister's important day. Ah, it truly can't compare to the sister in his heart."

"Never mind, never mind; now that Brother has a sweetheart, I, as a sister, am redundant. Better to go back and keep sadness to myself."

[The overly dramatic sister isn't really upset; she just wants to gain some advantage over you. A little expert in household dynamics, she wants to size up Shen Yi, knowing the future sister-in-law isn't Li Zijun.]

Hearing this, Su Qing felt his blood pressure rise, gritting his teeth: "Are you living in Dunhuang? With all these wall paintings?"
