Chapter 1075: Compulsory Quest

The CEO office was simple, but spacious, with a few virtual figures projected onto the sofas around his desk. These were the images of the competitors from Blue Universe.
"I couldn't believe my ears when I received the news."
CEO Sheng was around forty, which was quite young for an entrepreneur.
He wasn't strict either, but no one dared to disrespect him in this room.
"Why aren't any of you talking? Enthrall, you have a say."
"Mr. Sheng, we've lost completely to Ruling Sword this time. There's nothing to say."
Enthrall didn't want to try and explain himself, even though he knew that CEO Sheng knew nothing about games and it would be easy to fool him.
"I wasn't expecting you all to defeat Ruling Sword. They're strong at the moment, but what I can't comprehend is how you guys didn't even score a single point."
"It's mainly because of Lu Li. He's a miracle in the gaming industry," Enthrall explained.
"Lu Li, right," CEO Sheng muttered as he made a gesture to his secretary. All of Lu Li's gaming information, including rumours on the internet, appeared in the virtual space. These were all very detailed, but they didn't include any of Lu Li's information in real life.
"This is someone who has barely played any games and was born into poverty. All of you have been through vigorous training, yet, he can beat you by himself. What do you guys think about him?"
"He's a genius. It seems like there's nothing impossible to him," Sindra said bitterly.
"From this, I can tell that you've already backed out. There's no one who can be undefeated forever. Wasn't Sorrowless the same before?"
"Sorry, Mr. Sheng…" The competitors felt even more ashamed.
"I don't understand games, so I won't reach my hands into anything in there, but I'm expecting all of you not to disappoint me. Ruling Sword will be your greatest opponent, whether you guys can beat them or not."
After the virtual meeting, the secretary was smart and quickly brought a coffee over.
CEO Sheng sighed and rubbed his eyebrows tiredly.
"So difficult; I didn't know that boy would be so strong in the game. I thought Blue Universe would be enough to make trouble for him in the game."
"CEO Sheng, are you really going to oppose your daughter?" the secretary asked worriedly.
"What do you mean I'm opposing her? She's the one opposing me," CEO Sheng's said as his face went red from anger. "Ever since she met that Lu Li, she's become so rebellious. It's all because of that Lu Li! What about the investment that I've asked you to make?"
"They've declined any sort of investment. It's impossible to sort out the situation in real life through the game."
The secretary was helpless; there was nothing they could do about it!
In the secretary's opinion, it was time for the girl to get married anyway. Even if CEO Sheng didn't want to lose his daughter, there were better ways to solve this. Not to mention, CEO Sheng's wife seemed to be pregnant at the moment, which had caused a lot of tension already between him and his daughter.
On top of this, Lu Li was really something, especially since he had been born into poverty.
Compared to those rich second generation children, Lu Li was a great choice.
Lu Li and Water Fairy were quite close indeed in the game. They often grouped to level up together, and two Thieves levelled up like a team of Mages. In their spare time, they would complete quests from Ravenholdt together.
From what Garona had shared with them, once they reached a certain level with their Reputation, they would be able to receive the method for upgrading the Shard of the Defiler.
The upgraded version of the weapon would transmute it into a level 60 exquisite weapon. Although there were many choices for a level 60 weapon, a Thief would never complain about having too many Daggers. It was common for Thieves to use different weapons depending on the situation.
Perhaps it was because the Scourge event was quickly approaching, but Ravenholdt Manor had begun to release related quests. These were quests that were compulsory and would result in a loss of reputation upon failure.
Kill Nathanos Blightcaller!
Lu Li had already interacted with Nathanos Blightcaller from the Stratholme dungeon.
Unknowingly, Hachi Chan had activated a Horde quest from this NPC, which caused Lu Li and the others to receive a buff called "Nathanos Blightcaller's Rage". The buff boosted their health by 20, attack by 20 and ignored 20 Defense of Ramstein the Gorger.
Nathanos Blightcaller was actually Nathanos Marris, but his story had already been shared previously.
He was the only Human race ranger in the history of Dawn, and was a hero of the Alliance. After the Scourge invaded, he was killed by Ramstein the Gorger and became an Undead.
However, he escaped their control and became one of the Forgotten, loyal to Sylvanas.
The Alliance had no clue about what had happened.
The leader of SI:7, Master Mathias Shaw, received intel that Nathanos Blightcaller had gone missing and that the Forgotten Ones were very active in the area.
He sent out five men to investigate, but only one had returned. The one who returned continuously mumbled "Nathanos" or "Blightcaller", and passed away a few days later in his dreams.
They believed that Nathanos had been killed by someone called Blightcaller and sent out a quest to kill this mysterious figure.
Although Ravenholdt wasn't on particularly friendly terms with SI:7, they still gave out the quest to Lu Li and Water Fairy. They even marked it as a compulsory quest.
If it was SI:7 that had given out the quest, Lu Li and Water Fairy might be able to decline it. Unfortunately, this was a quest given out by Ravenholdt, so they had no choice but to complete it.
They were part of the Alliance, so it wasn't really an issue for them to kill a Horde NPC. Not to mention, Nathanos Blightcaller was just a projection. He was the only Human Ranger in the Alliance when he was alive, and after his death, he was still one of the few close subordinates to Queen Sylvanas. Even if it was just a projection of him, he was still beyond the abilities of Lu Li and Water Fairy alone.
Fortunately, the quest didn't restrict player numbers.
"Assign some players to help with Blightcaller and deal with the Horde players that might come to harass us. The battle might last for a while and we only have one shot. Once the Horde players gather, it might turn into a guild war," Lu Li said. He was very aware of the entire situation.
This was currently a crucial time for the guild's development and Lu Li wasn't the slightest bit interested in fighting the Horde.
