Chapter 1835: The Draenei

Since Thieves would occasionally dabble in archery, Lu Li’s shooting level was pretty much at 80% or 90% with a bit more practice. He had confidence in himself; he was certain that he could shoot down these female Naga. However, something unexpected happened.
When these female Naga saw crossbows shooting at them, they would use Blink to teleport and dodge the shots.
But Lu Li’s arrow didn’t hit nothing. A male Naga which was following behind the female Mage took the shot instead. Lu Li’s progress bar increased by one, and the female Mage which flashed away didn’t have a clean escape either. Just before she Blinked, a crossbow still shot her.
Was someone stealing his targets? It was usually him that stole other people’s targets. He never thought the day would come when he would be stolen from.
He observed the scene— there was definitely some stealing going on.
A Naga Mage Blinked and hid before shooting her own crossbow. Before she fell to the ground, she met with two calculated attacks. The first attack came from Lu Li. If nothing unexpected happened, then Lu Li would take the kill. However, he didn’t expect the Mage to immediately give herself an Ice shield.
The ice shield was pierced, and the crossbow was successful in taking away most of the Naga Mage’s HP. But she wasn’t dead. Lu Li rushed to aim the second crossbow at his target, praying in his heart that someone wouldn’t steal his kill.
An injured Naga Mage moved very slowly. Even though she was working hard to hide, she was still taken out by Lu Li. The XP was incomparably high. One Mage was worth ten ordinary Naga. On Lu Li’s long experience bar, it made movement that could even be seen by the naked eye. This made Lu Li feel that there was something more that could make this quest go faster.
One Mage was equivalent to ten ordinary Naga warriors. Someone with a magic staff was always going to be cooler than someone with a harpoon. Since one was worth the same amount as ten, of course Lu Li wouldn’t keep looking for ordinary Naga to attack. He purposely chose the Naga Mages who Blinked and could give out Ice shields. From this point on, he was a kill-stealing bandit.
Maybe it was because too many Naga Mages died – Lu Li alone finished off 16 of them – but the first wave of the Naga retreated very soon.
The Druids’ ballistae with natural magic could very easily attack retreated Naga. Since the Naga were persistent in eradicating this refuge eyesore, they weren’t happy with retreating. It was expected that the refuge would face another invasion that was even more challenging.
“You completed this quest with flying colours,” Warden Hamoot praised, “Killing 16 of the Naga Mages, the biggest threat to the refuge. Friend, I thank you on behalf of the whole refuge…”
Blah, blah, blah. Lu Li got sleepy listening to it. Only at the end was Lu Li rewarded a heap of XP.
The XP reward was extremely generous. Originally falling off and being far off the top level player rankings, he was now on the leaderboard again; he was level 63 at 46%, ranked no. 326.
Maybe because of Lu Li’s outstanding kill stealing, Warden Hamoot finally honoured Lu Li and gave him another quest. Warden Hamoot wanted Lu Li to help him eliminate that group of the Broken and the Lost Ones in the shadowy lands that helped the Naga. They were also extremely cruel to slaves that tried to escape. Lu Li had to kill ten of the Broken and ten Lost Ones, as well as save 20 slaves while he was at it. Most of these slaves came from all sorts of races.
They had invited Lu Li over to visit the Telredor camp, so Lu Li crossed over to the Telredor camp. There were two captive Draenei – it was said there were originally three, but one of them died from enslavement. The poor Draenei seemed to have always been bullied by various races and powers.
At the moment, he had no way to do the Colifang Reservoir quest because it could only be completed in an Instance Dungeon. He needed to wait for his First Clear team to come over before doing anything.
The Telredor camp was part of his next stop. Besides, under the mushrooms, there were quite a few treasure chests. Although they didn’t drop anything special, it was good to use them to practice unlocking.
The Draenei built a stronghold atop a giant mushroom. This was built when they were hiding in Zangarmarsh. It was also because of this that the Draenei were able to successfully hide and survive against the Orcs’ search for them.
And because of the clever design of the lift, the lift didn’t only have the job of sending people to Telredor, it could also successfully drop those people who weren’t familiar with this place.
“The residents of Telredor are mostly Draenei exiles who had survived the massacre of the Burning Legion. We hope to protect Telredor forever, and to be a safe haven for all allies during war. But we’re not too sure about accepting new allies— traitors have made the Draenei too cautious,” the Draenei explained to Lu Li. He was the slightly older one who had been rescued by Lu Li.
“Before being ruined by a common enemy, the relationship between the allies was quite strong,” Lu Li replied after thinking for a while.
He actually wasn’t very sophisticated, but he borrowed the description from a book. In reality, even though they had a common enemy, the Burning Legion, the Alliance and the Horde would fight to the death over nothing.
Very soon, Lu Li arrived inside the Draenei’s camp. Lu Li didn’t receive a united welcome, but rather, he received a lot of hostile and judging looks.
This kept going until the two Draenei who had been rescued by Lu Li described how they met.
“I’m a mercenary working for the Cenarion Circle Expedition.” That was how Lu Li introduced himself.
“Oh, that’s a very polite gentleman,” The Draenei commented, they suddenly had a pretty big change in attitude. Evidently, the Draenei had a very positive view of Druids because they supported them.
The Druids and Draenei in Zangarmarsh, though they looked like brothers in their names, were two completely separate groups. They had a really good relationship mainly because the Druids taught the Draenei botany. They could combine two inedible plants together to be made edible; this helped alleviate part of the Draenei’s food shortage crisis.
Because of this, Lu Li, who had the goodwill of the Draenei, became more interested in the history of Telredor camp. It was right to say this was originally only a Pilgrim stronghold, but if they solved the food problem, then this would be heaven for the Draenei too. Because of environmental problems, the Burning Legion simply weren’t willing to enter into this area.
