Doctor: Picking Up Attributes in the Hospital

Chapter 161: A Father's Venture

Two o'clock in the afternoon.

Even though he had spent the night performing surgery, Zhao Heng only slept until two. Despite only getting four or five hours of sleep, Zhao Heng felt refreshed.

After a quick wash, Zhao Heng left the bedroom and walked into the living room. Zhao Dad and Zhao Mom were watching TV, and Zhao Heng glanced at it; his father was watching his favorite war drama.

"Dad, Mom."

Zhao Heng greeted them, sat on the sofa, picked up an apple, and took a bite.

"Why didn't you sleep a little longer?"

Zhao Mom looked at her son with concern.

"I'm fine, Mom. Is there anything to eat? I'm a bit hungry."

Zhao Heng patted his stomach, noticing his hunger.

"Do you feel like having noodles?"

Before Zhao Mom could speak, Zhao Dad chimed in.

He had recently been researching and experimenting with beef noodles, resulting in a dish that was visually appealing and delicious.

"Yeah, having beef and garlic would make it even better."

Zhao Heng nodded.

"You really know how to eat."

Zhao Dad laughed heartily, remarked to Zhao Heng, grabbed the remote to pause the TV, and headed to the kitchen.

"Son, you have no idea how much effort your dad has put into researching noodles that people in big cities would enjoy."

Zhao Mom explained, seeing the puzzled look on Zhao Heng's face.

"I'm definitely looking forward to it."

Zhao Heng nodded, eagerly anticipating what his father would create.

After a short while, Zhao Dad walked out holding a bowl of beef noodles and confidently placed it on the coffee table in front of Zhao Heng, saying, "Try it and see how it compares to the noodles in big cities."

"Alright."

Zhao Heng nodded, picking up his chopsticks.

First, Zhao Heng smelled a mix of chili, beef, and noodle aroma, which was exceptionally fresh.

Next, he saw the vibrant red chili oil, cooked beef, and freshly made noodles in the bowl adorned with bright green scallions, which stirred his appetite.

The bowl of noodles was a feast for the senses.

After just one bite, Zhao Heng felt that his father's noodles were better than any noodles he had ever tasted.

"How is it?"

Zhao Dad, seeing Zhao Heng eating quietly, asked anxiously.

Though confident in his culinary skills, he was uncertain if people in the big city would appreciate it.

"Dad, these noodles are delicious—they're definitely good enough to start a food stall."

Zhao Heng gave a thumbs up in praise, then lowered his head to continue eating voraciously.

"Alright."

Zhao Dad nodded, pleased with his son's approval.

Soon, Zhao Heng finished the bowl of noodles, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and said with satisfaction, "Dad, how did you make these noodles taste so good?"

"Of course! The noodles are freshly made, and the broth was simmered all afternoon with large beef bones and over ten different ingredients, making it naturally delicious."

Zhao Dad proudly explained, seeing his son's affirmative response.

"Dad, why don't we go check out some places later? If the price is right, let's rent a stall."

Zhao Heng thought for a moment and suggested.

Initially, he was concerned about his father opening a shop, but after tasting the noodles, he had no worries at all.

With this level of skill, starting a food stall is definitely feasible, and once they've built a customer base, they could rent a nearby store and surely attract even more customers.

"Alright, alright, good."

Zhao Dad was extremely happy hearing his son's suggestion.

Six o'clock in the afternoon.

Zhao Dad stood behind a stall, staring at the space, a bit incredulous, and asked Zhao Heng, "Son, did we really rent this stall just like that?"

From leaving home, it only took a few hours to rent the desired stall, making Zhao Dad feel somewhat surreal.

"Of course, everything is digital now, so things move quickly. Dad, you can buy the ingredients tomorrow and prepare to start the stall."

Zhao Heng replied with a smile.

The food street has many mature processes in place, and just as Zhao Heng inquired, there was a noodle stall available for sublet. The lease agreements are ready-made templates; once signed and paid, it's good to go.

"I still feel like I'm dreaming."

Zhao Dad felt a bit dreamy about how simply he embarked on his late-life venture in the big city.

"Dad, current policies are very supportive of this night market economy, so many processes have been simplified."

Seeing his father's disbelief, Zhao Heng added with a smile.

"That's right. Old guy, when the policies support it, how could it be fake?"

Zhao Mom chimed in.

She had previously considered going back to their hometown, as she felt like they were a burden to their son, but now, this stall had given her different thoughts.

Could running a noodle stall be more tiring than farming in their hometown?

If they could make some money, it would relieve much of the son's burden.

"Dad, Mom, don't feel too pressured, just see it as practice."

Zhao Heng reassured his parents again.

Originally, he looked for this stall partly to find something for his parents to do, especially since in this food city area, various materials can be delivered to the door, and even cleaning has staff responsible for it. Though the rent isn't cheap, it already minimizes workload as much as possible.

So, just preparing noodles for the stall wouldn't be too demanding daily.

"No way, we can't just see it as practice. If we're doing it, we must do it well."

Zhao Dad declared with determination.

If he wasn't so determined, he wouldn't have raised such an outstanding son like Zhao Heng, who excelled in prestigious universities from their hometown.

"Indeed! Son, if we're doing it, we must do it well!"

Zhao Mom firmly agreed.

"Alright, if I get off work early, I'll come by to help."

Zhao Heng nodded in agreement.

With his parents around, it's a home, and that's why he's working so hard.

"You're an official doctor at Eastern Hospital. If someone from the hospital sees you helping at a noodle stall, wouldn't that affect you badly?"

Zhao Mom, while delighted with her son's words, expressed concern.

"Doctors earn a living through hard work, same as running a stall, it won't be a problem."

Zhao Heng reassured.

"Exactly, everyone earns a living through hard work, it's all the same."

Zhao Dad added.

To hear his son speak this way made him feel very gratified; it showed his success in educating his son from a young age.

"Alright, then, let's all work hard together as a family!"

Zhao Mom said with a content smile.

The feeling of the whole family working hard together — it's wonderful!
