Doctor: Picking Up Attributes in the Hospital

Chapter 281: A Brand New Beginning

Eleven o'clock.

The surgery had been going on for three hours. In brain surgery, three hours is considered a medium duration, neither too long nor too short.

After completing the cranial closure, Liu Ziang remarked to Zhao Heng with some emotion, "Junior, it always feels best to operate with you. What would I do without your assistance in the future?"

"How about you name a price, and I'll hire you on a monthly basis?"

Pausing for a moment, Liu Ziang added half-jokingly.

The feeling of operating with Zhao Heng was indeed wonderful. Zhao Heng's skill level was not only very high, but for some reason, Zhao Heng seemed very familiar with Liu Ziang's surgical habits. Almost without Liu Ziang having to say anything, Zhao Heng could understand his intentions well.

It was like being a master and having another master feeding you moves.

"Forget it. What if this monthly package involves more than just surgery? I might end up losing a lot..."

Zhao Heng responded, a bit speechlessly.

In front of him, this great Liu was just letting himself go, saying whatever came to mind with an unrestrained attitude.

Watching their conversation, the two resident doctors couldn't help but feel enviously insane.

In the neurosurgery department, Liu Ziang was known for being strict and hard to talk to. When had they ever seen Liu Ziang so amicable to anyone before?

"Haha..."

Liu Ziang was amused by Zhao Heng's somewhat submissive demeanor.

Having completed the final tasks, Zhao Heng and Liu Ziang exited the operating room together.

"Dr. Zhao, how did the surgery go?"

Sun Xinxin's mother hurriedly approached Zhao Heng and asked the moment she saw him.

"The surgery went very smoothly."

Zhao Heng replied.

"That's good, that's good."

Upon receiving Zhao Heng's affirmative response, Sun Xinxin's mother felt at ease. Despite having great trust in Zhao Heng, her heart had been on edge until her daughter was out of the operating room.

Sun Xinxin's surgery was finished. What followed was recovery and rehabilitation. For someone like Sun Xinxin, a top athlete, encountering such a situation was devastating, but to have recovered to this extent was nothing short of a miracle.

And the miracle maker was Zhao Heng.

Returning to the ward area, Zhao Heng couldn't help but reflect on Sun Xinxin's treatment, which had taken up the longest time from him. Successfully completing the second surgery marked a significant milestone.

Three o'clock in the afternoon.

Zhao Heng continued his routine rounds. When he came to the bedside of the girl Miaomiao, he asked his usual question, "How are you feeling today?"

The girl Miaomiao's surgery went smoothly, and she was recovering well. Although she permanently lost an eye, Zhao Heng had fully considered the aesthetic aspect during the surgery. Once the incision healed, a prosthetic eye could be fitted, making it hardly noticeable that an eye was missing if not scrutinized.

Even though they had done their best in every other way, losing an eye was still a severe blow to a girl in her prime.

But observing the girl Miaomiao lying in the hospital bed, she seemed almost normal, not appearing as hopeless as she did upon admission.

"Much better, brother. How did Sister Xinxin's surgery go?"

The girl Miaomiao asked with great concern.

She still remembered the promise she made with Sun Xinxin, which was to go watch Sun Xinxin's skiing competition in person once both of them had recovered. That was an agreement between the two girls.

"The surgery went very well."

Zhao Heng said.

"That's great, I knew Sister Xinxin would recover."

Upon hearing Zhao Heng's positive response, the girl Miaomiao said happily.

Knowing Sun Xinxin's surgery was successful made Miaomiao even happier than her own recovery.

"Dr. Zhao, will my child have a recurrence in the future?"

At this moment, Miaomiao's father suddenly asked worriedly.

Recently, a "tree man" patient had been admitted to the ward and had undergone seven surgeries due to repeated recurrences. This news had spread among other patients and their families.

This raised Miaomiao's father's concern about whether his daughter's tumor, though removed, might recur in the future.

"We've performed complete resection and clearing, so the chances of recurrence are very low. Don't worry."

Zhao Heng replied.

"Thank you, doctor."

Miaomiao's father nodded, feeling a bit relieved and full of gratitude towards Zhao Heng.

Without Zhao Heng, he and his daughter might still be lost, not knowing where to turn.

They might have returned home in despair, and he couldn't imagine what kind of life they would be living now.

It's no exaggeration to say that Zhao Heng changed their lives.

Next, Zhao Heng completed the rounds for other patients and returned to his office.

Just as he returned to the office, someone walked in from outside.

It was Liu Meng, a resident doctor from the emergency department.

"Dr. Liu?"

Seeing Liu Meng enter with a look of joy, Zhao Heng had a slight hunch.

"Dr. Zhao, my application has been approved. I'll be counting on you from now on."

Liu Meng said joyfully.

She hadn't expected her application to be approved so quickly. Originally, she thought the emergency department was always short of hands, and Chief Song Siming wouldn't let her go easily.

Unexpectedly, upon mentioning it to Chief Song Siming, he agreed right away.

This was a bit surprising to her.

But it was because Gao Jun's status was rising, and Zhao Heng was Gao Jun's only student, so Song Siming was doing Gao Jun a favor.

"Alright, Dr. Liu, would you prefer day or night shifts?"

Zhao Heng nodded and continued.

Since she had come, the next step was to schedule shifts.

"Dr. Zhao, can I work with you? I want to learn as much as possible."

Liu Meng thought for a moment and said. Zhao Heng's skills were now well-recognized at Eastern Hospital, and if she could learn more from him, she believed her improvement would be significant.

Not to mention anything else, just spinal canal analgesia implantation, emergency care, anesthesia, and stem cell therapy, were Zhao Heng's unique specialties.

No matter which one she learned, Liu Meng felt it would surely be beneficial.

"Working with me might involve a lot of workload."

Zhao Heng thought for a moment and said. His work was currently busy and varied, and if Liu Meng followed him, her workload would be considerable as well.

"That's not a problem. Could it be more than the forty-eight-hour continuous shifts in the emergency department?"

Liu Meng smiled and said.

"That's true."

Zhao Heng nodded, acknowledging that no matter how busy it got for him, it wouldn't exceed the workload of the emergency department's forty-eight-hour shifts.

Thus, it could be said that Zhao Heng had his first doctor working under him, marking a brand-new beginning.
