Half an hour before Max arrived at the administration building…
Rhuuumm!
A black SUV sped towards the Red City, leaving dust in its trails.
Inside the SUV, there were two people, one driver, a man who looked to be in his mid-forties and had an average build was the driver, and the other person was a younger man, around 25 years old.
Unlike the driver who looked average and didn't have any memorable traits, making him easily forgettable, the younger man was different.
Just his burly physique was enough for him to stand out in a crowd. Moreover, he had another memorable trait—a deep scar running from an inch from his left ear to all the way to the base of his neck.
Seeing the scar, everyone would definitely wonder just how he had survived such a serious injury.
The driver looked at him and said, "Sir Jamie, we are approaching the Red City."
Jamie opened his eyes, revealing deep brown pupils. He looked ahead, and saw buildings appear in the distance.
"Such a remote city in a recently established country… Indeed a good place to live in hiding." Jamie muttered under his breath.
The driver, named David, upon hearing this, looked at him with some hesitation.
Feeling his gaze, Jamie said without looking at him, "If you have something to say, say it."
David gritted his jaws, took a deep breath and said, "I hope I'm not crossing my limit here, Sir Jamie, but can I ask if the people you are here for are also from an ancient family?"
Jamie casually nodded, "Yes."
David's eyes flickered in thought and he carefully asked, "Sir Jamie… You previously mentioned that you are here only to take someone away, is that right?"
Jamie turned his head around and looked at him, his lips curving upwards, "Why? You want to try your luck and see if you can find their martial arts techniques if I'm just here for someone?"
David felt chills run down his spine seeing his incomprehensible smile and hurriedly said, "N-No, Sir Jamie. I-I had no such thought."
His father used to work for someone of an ancient family and from the diary he left behind upon his death, he had learned a few things about these entities called the ancient families.
First, these families had existed for thousands of years. Honestly, he found it very difficult to believe.
Second, these families were very powerful and had always been controlling the world from behind the scenes.
Third and what had made him take the risk of contacting them a year ago was that they supposedly possessed some Martial Arts Techniques which could make a person strong enough to destroy a foot wide concrete wall with a punch.
Perhaps, they could make a person even stronger because the man his father had seen punching a wall into rubble had done it with not too much difficulty.
Again, he had found it very difficult to believe and had even thought that his father had a screw loose. However, he knew his father well enough to know better.
His father had left enough wealth for him to live the rest of his life comfortably, but the thought that whatever his father had written in his diary was true kept appearing in his mind.
After hesitating for a month, he decided to visit the place where he could establish contact with his father's employer and to his surprise, he succeeded and met a person, who claimed to be a servant of his father's employer's son.
That person was none other than Jamie.
When he met him, seeing how huge he was and seeing the scar on his neck and his perpetually grim expression, he was intimidated. But as he met him a few times, he realized as long as he didn't annoy him, Jamie wouldn't mind him asking a few things.
So, he had asked him whether there were really people as strong as his father had claimed in his diary in the ancient families.
In response, Jamie had simply punched the car's door, almost puncturing it.
Feeling excited, he had asked whether he could learn some techniques.
At that moment, Jamie had told him that it was almost impossible for him unless someone with a high enough authority in the ancient family gave him permission.
But seeing how he was barely qualified to meet his father's employer's son's servant, David knew the chances of it happening were close to zero.
Then, less than a month ago, when Jamie found him and had him drive from the central New Island to this remote Red City, he found out that not all ancient families were strong. Many had vanished in the river of time while others were on the verge of.
Though Jamie hadn't told him that they were going to take someone from an ancient family, given the ancient families mostly dealt among themselves, he had guessed as much.
But he didn't dare to confirm it with him because after the nukes were launched and everything became chaotic, Jamie became less grim but more dangerous and violent.
Just a day after the D-Day, he had seen him kill a group of five just because they were shouting near him. Aside from this, he had killed several more people due to some other minor things, and a few times, he did so without any reason whatsoever.
Clearly, with everything in chaos, he no longer needed to restrain himself. This had scared David and he had stopped asking him things, worried that he would also be killed.
However, his curiosity was reignited when he heard Jamie's muttering and he had been thinking whether he should take the risk when he spoke up, leaving him with no choice but to ask what he wanted to.
As a result, Jamie was staring at him with the manic look in his eyes that he had become familiar with in the past two weeks.
He knew he was in danger of dying right now.
Fortunately, however, Jamie shifted his gaze away from him and looked at the Red City.
David had just sighed in relief when he heard Jamie say, "You are a good man, David."
Swoosh!
"What do you–"
A bad feeling had just arisen in his heart when Jamie suddenly smashed a fist on his forehead and immediately…
Bang!
His head exploded into a gory mess of flesh, blood, bone and brain matter.
