[Name: Henry Fletcher]
[Gender: Male]
[Age: 38]
[Level: 4]
[Constitution: None]
[Loyalty: 30→45]
[Status: Concerned, Uncomfortable, Aroused.]
Sitting in the living room, illuminated by a kerosene lamp, Max stared at Henry, sitting in front of him.
If not for the system and his ability [Discerning Eyes], he might not have been able to guess the truth—that Henry had a cuckold fetish, and wanted to become a cuckold.
Though it wasn't mentioned in his status information and he didn't bother tweaking the [Discerning Eyes] to see his fetishes because he wasn't interested in it, just the [Aroused] in his status was more than enough for him to tell him this.
When he realized this, he got the answer to all his questions such as, whether he knew it was Vivian under the blanket when he came to inform him about Jamie, and why hadn't he gotten angry if he had or why Vivian wasn't concerned about him finding out about their affair.
'Now this is very interesting.' He thought, suppressing a smirk. He then shifted his attention away from Henry to Alex, who was looking at him nervously, and Anna, who was sitting with her mother, looking at her with concern and at him with some anxiousness.
Max didn't want to ogle her in front of Vivian, but he took a quick but deep look at her and saw that although she wasn't as beautiful as Sophie or even Tommy's sister, Jasmine, she had a good figure and her homely, simple girl vibes made her quite attractive.
"Everyone… Will you relax?" He said with a wry smile, "No need to be so nervous. As I already told you, you are like family to me since I think of Vivian as my aunt. So, please relax."
Vivian patted Anna's thigh and smiled at her and Alex, "Yeah. Relax. Today, he is here as a family member, not as our leader."
Alex and Anna subconsciously glanced at their father, wanting to see what he would do because while they respected and trusted their mother, they also felt the same for him and equally, if not more, valued his decision.
Seeing this, Henry smiled, though it was a little stiff at first, "It's okay, you two."
Saying this, he glanced at Vivian and asked Max, "What happened to her? Why was she not walking properly and why does she look so… exhausted?"
Max stared at him, and almost failed to suppress a grin when he noticed the almost unnoticeable shift in his breathing after he asked this.
On the other side, Vivian shot a covert, angry glare at Henry and became a little nervous, afraid that her children might feel something wrong.
'Why did he have to ask this in front of them?' She grumbled, but didn't say anything because she knew Max wouldn't let her. So, she could only hope Max would give a good enough reason.
Max, in a calm voice, said, "There is nothing to worry about, but she fell while arranging things and twisted her ankle. As for why she is so exhausted, well, it's my fault."
While Alex and Anna didn't have much of a reaction to his words, Henry and Vivian held their breath, for completely different reasons though.
The look in his eyes deepened when he saw this and felt a dark thrill well up in his heart. For a moment, he wanted to tell the truth and see what reaction Henry might have, but knowing he shouldn't do it, he erased the impulsive thought and said,
"You guys know I just came to the mansion and know almost nothing about everything going on. So, I had asked Aunt Vivian to arrange the files and tell me everything I needed to know about the current situation. All that naturally was very exhausting for her."
Vivian let out a hidden sigh of relief upon hearing this while Henry looked a bit disappointed for a moment before he nodded and said, "Yeah, I understand. All the worries she carried for the past few days had already drained her, so this task must have been more exhausting for her."
Anna squeezed her mother's hand in response of which Vivian gave her a reassuring smile, telling her that she was alright.
Seeing this, Anna looked at Max, and hesitantly said, "Um, Sir Max, can I ask you something?"
"Of course, you can. Also, when others are not present, you can call me Brother Max if you like." Max smiled.
Vivian's eyes narrowed slightly when she heard this and she had a premonition.
'Don't tell me…' She inhaled a sharp breath and opened her mouth to say something, but she hesitated as various thoughts flashed in her mind. In the end, she just bit her lip and sighed in her heart.
Anna, unaware of what was going through her mother's mind, forced a smile, "O-Okay." She then asked, "I wanted to ask that… Do you really have a method to save us from the radiation?"
Henry suppressed his feelings and became serious when he heard this. Alex also focused on Max. As for Vivian, she didn't pay it much attention as she already knew the answer.
"Put your worries to rest. I do indeed have a method." Max nodded.
Phew!
Both Alex and Anna let out a breath of relief when they heard this and Henry also relaxed.
"That's great news!" Anna exclaimed in excitement, squeezing her mother's hand.
"So, you didn't believe me before, huh?" Max asked, his voice teasing.
Both Anna and Alex reddened and Anna muttered, averting her eyes, "I-It's not that. I just…"
"It's alright, Anna. He is just teasing you." Vivian interjected with a smile.
Max glanced at her, smiled and stood up, "Alright, everyone. Please excuse me now."
Henry, Anna and Alex stood up. Vivian also wanted to, but Max shook his head and told her to stay seated.
Then, with Henry, Anna and Alex accompanying him, he walked to the door, waved them goodbyes and walked out, soon disappearing from their sight.
"Dad, do you think he was speaking the truth?" Alex asked Henry, walking back to the living room.
Hearing this, Anna also looked at him, suddenly feeling a little skeptical.
"I believe he was." Henry said after thinking for a moment. "As for whether he really has a method to counteract the radiation… We will only know when the time comes."
"Hmm." The siblings nodded, half their relief vanishing.
Vivian heard everything and seeing their worried looks, she frowned and said, "He really has a method. You all don't need to doubt it."
"Really?" Anna and Alex's eyes lit up.
"Yes." Vivian nodded, thought for a moment and began saying, "Although I don't know what exactly it is, he has it. As for why I'm so sure, it's because he didn't look even a tiny bit concerned all the time I observed him. Besides, don't forget he isn't someone ordinary…"
…
With his hands in his pockets and while humming a tune, Max headed toward Kim Eun-Ji's house following Vivian's directions.
A few minutes later, he arrived in front of her home—a single story house.
He checked the door and windows—everything was closed.
He could easily break them, but it would startle them, so it wasn't an option.
'Tsk! Have to use Harem Points again.' He clicked his tongue, but thinking it was an investment to earn way more, he pulled up his status window.
[Level: 4 (0/65)]
[Physical: 54]
[Spiritual: 50]
[Harem: 3]
[Harem Points: 85]
[Abilities: Discerning Eyes Lv 3. (0/100)]
'Let's see how much it would cost.' Thinking this, he opened the system shop, typed 'master key for normal door locks' in the item request and clicked yes.
[Harem Points: 85→84]
One Harem Point was deducted like usual and a smaller window appeared in front of him, which made him sigh in relief because after experiencing it two times, he was now afraid of getting the [Notice] for the absence of items once again.
Scanning the screen, he saw there was only one item, exactly the one he needed right now.
[Master Key (Low Grade): Can unlock all non-magical and non-electronic locks. Note: Needs Mana Recharge after three uses.]
[Price: 10 HP/Piece]
He bought it without hesitation and put it in the keyhole of the main door.
[Harem Points: 84→74]
Click!
With a soft click, the door was unlocked.
Putting the key into the system inventory, he pushed the door open and entered the house with light footsteps to ensure he didn't make any sound.
'I hope I won't be disappointed.' He thought, his black eyes flickering in the darkness.
