Legendary Awakening: Harem System In The Post-Apocalyptic World

Chapter 91: Shoot Them

The distance between Max's residence and the mansion's gate where Max believed the sounds of gunshot had originated from was just over 500 meters.

Swoosh!

Even though he still couldn't utilize his strength perfectly, he was several times faster than a normal person and arrived there in less than 30 seconds.

Immediately, he saw a mob gathered at the entrance.

'Hm?' His brows furrowed, but not because they were here. No, their presence didn't surprise him in the least because he had expected them to turn up after finding out the mansion had survived the enemy assault, and it had accepted more people—Martinez, Thompson and his family.

The reason he frowned was because he noticed five corpses lying in front of the gate and the mob was fearfully staring at the two men standing on the other side of the gate, behind the sandbag wall, pointing their assault rifles at the mob.

One of the two was Henry and the other one wasn't Jack as he had expected.

Just when he thought why someone else was in his place, he saw him and his expression darkened because he was lying on the side of the entrance road, covered in blood.

A few people were beside him, pressing clothes on the bloody wounds on his chest to stop the blood from flowing out.

"Where is nurse Kim Eun-Ji? Why hasn't she arrived yet?" Henry, eyes red, glanced at his best buddy and shouted in anger.

Before someone could answer, the previously scared mob suddenly burst into action.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

They rushed to the gate and began pushing against it while clamoring.

"Open the gate! We also have the right to stay inside too!"

"They won't open. Tear it down!"

"Yeah! Let's do it! They can't kill all of us!"

"If they try, we can take them down too."

"You think?!" Henry growled, almost about to pull the trigger and massacre all these vermin, but he managed to stop himself. It wasn't that he felt guilty about killing so many, he did not, but he knew he couldn't make this decision himself.

"Has someone gone to inform Sir Maxwell?" He asked and instantly, he heard a cold voice from behind say:

"Shoot them!"

Both Henry and his companion were startled by Max's sudden appearance.

"Take cover, Sir—"

Bang!

After being startled for a moment, Henry had just begun roaring out the warning when a gunshot sounded.

Henry's pupils constricted and without trying to locate where the person who had just fired was, he opened fire on the mob.

Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

As for his companion, he hurriedly put his rifle down and was about to drag Max to safety when he realized Max was standing there calmly, looking at the mob with a chilly look in his eyes.

He scanned him and realized that there was no gun wound present on his body.

'Did he miss?' He wondered but couldn't spare this much thought and opened his mouth, "Sir, they have guns. Please take co–"

"Don't worry about me. Just shoot them." Max interrupted him, watching the mob trying to take cover behind one another while shouting and crying.

"Ahhhh! You demons! Stop!"

"Nooo!"

"You'll get retribution for this..."

As the other man also began shooting them, more and more people fell which made the rest frenzied and they began fleeing in panic.

Suddenly, Max's eyes flickered.

"That's enough. Just give me cover."

Saying this, he broke out in a sprint and when he was over ten feet away from the gate, he pressed against the ground with his toes and propelled himself into air, easily jumping over the over ten feet tall gate.

Thud!

Henry and his companion hurriedly stopped firing, and followed him with their eyes.

Soon, they realized he was chasing three people, all of whom were carrying guns in their hands.

Henry and his companion immediately aimed at them.

Right at that moment, the trio noticed Max running after them.

Their eyes glinting, they pointed their handguns at him…

Bang! Bang!

But before they could fire, Henry and his companion pulled the triggers, disarming two of them as for the third, he managed to fire.

Bang!

Swoosh!

However, right as he pulled the trigger, Max, whose sharp eyes were fixed on them, shifted to the side and dodged the bullet, causing the man's pupils to constrict.

He wanted to fire again, but Max had already closed the distance between them and…

Shua! Crack!

He swiftly grabbed his wrist and twisted it, causing his grip on the gun to slacken.

"Argghhh!" While the man cried in pain having his wrist broken, Max caught the gun and slammed it onto his forehead, knocking him unconscious.

Thud!

Watching the man fall to the ground, Max looked at his hand and muttered. "My control's not too shabby… Not bad!"

Though he wouldn't have minded if he had accidentally used more strength than what he intended to and ended up killing him, the result left him satisfied.

He then looked around, and soon located the other two. They were lying at the corner of the street, covered in blood, seemingly dead.

Clearly, they had tried to escape after Henry and his companion had disarmed them, which forced the latter to kill them since allowing them to escape wasn't an option.

Max didn't go over to check whether they were really dead or not. Instead, he swept his gaze across the plaza. A small percentage had managed to flee, a few dozen had fallen and the rest were trying to flee.

Calmly raising his hand to the sky, he pulled the trigger.

Bang!

"Stop where you are if you don't want to get killed!"

His loud and authoritative voice boomed in the area and immediately, everyone froze in place, trembling in terror.

Max swept his gaze across them, his expression cold.

"I know you are hungry, thirsty and scared. However, this doesn't excuse you trying to barge into my place. Still, on the account that you were swayed by these three, I'm sparing you all this one time." said Max before adding,

"However, if you repeat this foolishness for whatever reason, I give you my word… Each and every one of you will be slaughtered."
