Seeing this, Max calmly said, "Relax. He will soon be alright."

Eun-Ji looked up at him, and nodded, "I hope so."

Max didn't say anything, nor was he dissatisfied that she didn't believe him.

She knew nothing about what he could do, so it was natural she wouldn't.

Pat! Pat! Pat!

Just then, he heard the sound of hurried footsteps and looked over—Jamie was rushing over.

"How come you are so late?" He asked, raising a brow in question.

Given how the place he lived at was closer compared to his residence, he should have arrived before him.

"I'm sorry, Master." Jamie lowered his head, "I was quite exhausted, so to recover quickly, I was… taking a nap."

The others nearby gave him unfriendly looks when they heard this while Max frowned, "The gunshots couldn't wake you?"

"Master, I tend to sleep deeply. So, I didn't hear them." Jamie awkwardly said. He knew Max would have a hard time believing it, but it was the truth. It was his old habit which he had tried his best to change after starting to work for Samuel, but he had yet to succeed.

"How… are you still alive?" Max said, shaking his head in exasperation. Unlike what Jamie thought, he didn't doubt him because—perhaps due to their Master-Servant bond—he could tell Jamie wasn't lying.

Jamie forced a wry smile in response.

He then looked at unconscious Jack and frowned before sweeping his gaze outside the gate. Seeing the corpses laid before the gate and the crowd on their knees, it wasn't difficult for him to roughly guess what had happened.

However…

"What do you plan to do with them, Master?" He asked,

The others and Eun-Ji looked at him, wanting to hear Max's response.

"I want to rule this city and it can't be without people." Max calmly said.

"I understand." Jamie nodded, then asked, "But what about the resources to keep them alive?"

Max looked at him and immediately understood why he asked this despite knowing he had his means—he wanted to put others at ease.

Inwardly nodding in appreciation at his thoughtfulness, he said, "There is no need to worry about it. I naturally have my ways. In my rule, no one who takes me as their Lord, obeys my rules and causes no trouble will starve."

His voice was deliberately loud enough for the crowd outside to hear.

Most of them were still uncertain whether Max would really give them something to eat like he promised them just now. So, when they heard this, their restless minds calmed down a bit.

Half a minute later, the man pressing Jack's wound suddenly exclaimed, "Miss Eun-Ji, the blood has stopped flowing out!"

"Really?" Eun-Ji asked and when he removed his hand from the blood-soaked cloth, she saw that indeed that was the case and sighed in relief.

Then, with his help, she dressed his wound.

Exhaling in relief, she said, "Take him to his home to rest. I'll come check on him two hours later."

"Okay." The man nodded and glanced at one of his companions who came over and they were about to carry him when Max said, "Don't take him to his home. His family will worry in vain. Take him to some empty quarters."

"Sir Max…" Eun-Ji looked at him, her brows furrowing slightly, "I understand you don't want to worry his family, but we need them to look after him. Besides, if we keep him away until he recovers, they would still get worried for him."

Max looked at her, "Don't worry, you have given him the medicine I gave you. So, it won't take too long for him to recover."

"But you are right. Someone needs to look after him." While Eun-Ji's eyes flickered, he nodded and said while looking at one of the two carrying Jack, "One of you stay with him for a while."

"Yes, sir." The duo nodded and left.

After staying silent for a few moments, Eun-Ji looked at him and asked, "Sir, what was that solution? Can it really heal Mr. Jack faster?"

"That was a Healing Potion." Max said, not trying to keep it a secret. He knew, for others to follow him wholeheartedly, he needed to show them his other capabilities too, just being strong wasn't enough.

He then nodded, "It's a special medicine used by Martial Artists. It heals way faster than ordinary medicine. You saw how shortly after giving it to him, his blood stopped flowing."

While the remaining 7 men and Eun-Ji digested his words and pondered over the revelation of Martial Artists, Jamie looked at him in surprise.

He hadn't used or even seen it personally, but he had heard of the medicine used by Martial Artists and Awakeners. It was said to be extraordinary, able to heal even the serious injury in a couple hours or less and some could even bring an almost dead man back to life.

He also knew these types of medicine were very rare, so he genuinely hadn't expected Max to possess some.

'A contradictory guy indeed.' He thought and decided not to be surprised again by anything unusual he did or revealed.
