I'm Trying To Go Broke, So Why Do I Keep Getting Richer?!

Chapter 44: It's a bird it's a plane no it's Blaze!

"Blaze, you are back!" The Tower Lord personally arrived atop the Hero Tower to welcome Blaze.

"I'm back as well. Aren't you going to welcome me?" Lightning peaked out his head from behind Blaze. "Don't tell me you forgot that I also went on this mission?"

"Welcome, Lightning." The Tower Lord maintained his professional smile as he reached out his hand to welcome Lightning as well.

The three power centers of the Hero Tower entered the lift, where the Tower Lord asked, "So, how did it go? Did you find any hints?"

"There was nothing. In fact, it was so clean that I think a higher planet might be involved in it. I don't think we can get involved in this anymore," Blaze answered, with a sigh.

"I just hope that the Elven Lord wouldn't blame us for this." The Tower Lord mumbled.

"Why would he blame us?" Lightning scoffed. "It didn't happen in the space sector under our watch. Although it's unfortunate that she was on her way to earth when it happened, it can't be linked to us."

"You aren't a father yet, so you wouldn't understand. When a father loses their child, do you think they would care about logic? They would just look for an outlet to let out their anger. And I just hope that we don't become that outlet."

"We will deal with it when it comes to that. Right, Blaze?" Lightning wasn't scared of any high planet. Even though they were strong, if they were really unreasonable, then they could only fight.

What was the worst that could happen? They would die? Wasn't death an eventual outcome for humans? Even Heroes weren't immortal after all.

"I think we should prepare for the worst," Blaze chimed in, intervening in the conversation. "Now that we have the mana overlord elixirs, we should be able to increase the combined strength of earth."

"Right. Don't we have that new researcher who made that elixir?" Lightning laughed, realising that he truly could go all out without worrying about mana overload now.

"If he can keep making such miraculous elixirs that help the heroes, wouldn't we become stronger?" he added. "Within a few hundred years, earth might be able to become a High Seat Planet in the Galactic Union."

"That's true. He might become our greatest asset." Blaze nodded, showing a hint of smile on his stiff face after a long time. "That reminds me, you haven't met him right? Let me introduce you two."

Blaze pressed the button of the 769th floor which was assigned to Leo. He was also looking forward to meeting Leo, since the last time he had to leave in a hurry. They couldn't even talk properly.

The Tower Master was taken aback, seeing Blaze talk respectfully about Leo. Even though he had come up with a miraculous elixir, wasn't he still a mere human that wasn't even a hero?

"This..." He was at a loss of words. He didn't think that Blaze would be so fond of that man.

Even though he heard that Blaze had personally gone to welcome him, he didn't think they were this close that Blaze was trying to introduce even Lightning, another great hero in the top ten.

The Tower Lord cleared his throat, and said, "You won't find him there. That floor is empty."

"That floor is empty? Why? Did he go outside on some personal business?" Blaze asked, narrowing his eyes. "Or did you promote him and give him a higher floor?"

"We... I think we need to talk about this." The Tower Lord pressed the button to his office floor. "But before that, I just want you to know that we did everything we could in our power."

"Why are you talking like that? Just what happened in our absence?"

"It was the fault of the executives. They forced my hand, so I had no choice but to do this." The Tower Master said as the lift came to a stop.

The doors opened and the man stepped outside, explaining everything that happened. Of course, he made himself look like a victim that was only trying to prove Leo's innocence before everyone, only to be misunderstood.

The moment he finished explaining, he froze in place as a chill crept up his back. He could count the number of people that could make him feel like this on a single hand. And Blaze was undoubtedly the scariest of them.

"I tried to make up for our mistake! I even offered him a promotion, increased the signing amount and an executive position. But he just didn't listen! He just left!"

"But don't worry, we still have a contract with him. After five years, he will return to us. So you don't have to worry about our elixir stock. And if he still doesn't listen, then we can use other methods to convince him."

"Other methods?" Blaze's voice came as the entire Hero Tower started trembling. Even Lighting grew a little concerned, watching the reinforced walls crack under Blaze's aura alone.

The Tower Master felt overwhelmingly suppressed under his aura, as if a mountain was resting on his shoulder.

He had no choice but to use his abilities to himself. A spatial portal opened behind him, and a hand came out, accompanied by a powerful aura that shielded him.

Unfortunately, even that aura was struggling before Blaze.

"I know that it was a mistake. But it's all the fault of that researcher and the executives!" The Tower Master exclaimed. "My hands were tied. Still, I went above and beyond to stop him. But that arrogant man just left! The best we could do was get that five year promise!"

"Should he have stayed behind to thank you for putting him on a death trial? Would you do that?!" Blaze yelled, and the trembling of the tower intensified

"You thought the person who was living in poverty while researching the Elixir to save lives was a liar who needed to stand on trial?" Blaze's voice grew colder.

He had done his research on Leo. He had even seen the images of the place where Leo lived. It wasn't wrong to say that the man truly didn't live a lavish lifestyle.

Even after all that, to serve mankind, he was willing to work for the Hero Tower without asking for any monetary benefits. He was even willing to pay for the materials himself, without relying on Tower.

After all that, the man was treated like a criminal? Blaze couldn't believe it. Just what had this place become to be so cold to someone's goodwill?

Hearing the commotion, many high ranking heroes had started coming out of the rooms, wondering what was happening.

Being treated like this before so many people, made the Tower Lord feel embarrassed. It led to him getting angry as well.

"I did the best I could! What did you expect me to do when that youngster refused to understand? Did you expect me to beg him? For a mere human, you are threatening me? Don't forget that I am still the Tower Lord!"

"Just because everyone treats you respectfully, don't think you can walk all over me! I might not be on the rankings, but I'm not scared of you!"

The Tower Lord, in his shame, grew extremely furious. "Don't think you can threaten me! If I truly went all out, I don't think I would lose against you! So you better treat me with respect that I deserve!"

Hearing the Tower Master's words, Lightning facepalmed himself. He couldn't help but mumble, "This fool..."

....

That day, many people heard scary sounds coming from the Hero Tower.

Many windows were shattered, and two figures could be seen flying through the sky. Was it a fight? No, it was more like one person was being thrashed by the other person.

The situation was even being broadcasted live. And since it was happening in the city of heroes, the entire world was paying attention, and commenting on it.

"Isn't that Blaze? Who is he beating up?"

"I can't be sure. That other man's face is so swollen that I can't even be sure if it's a human or a pig. Just which fool didn't know his place before Blaze?"

"I feel bad for his enemy. Poor guy."

"Hah, don't feel bad for him. To be thrashed by Blaze, he must have deserved it."

The entire planet was treating the live feed like a spectacle. Social media and forums were also abuzz.

No one knew that the poor pig, cough, the poor human was none other than the unseen Tower Master of Hero Tower.
