Weakling.
No one hates the weak.
What's even the point of wasting your hatred on the weak?
The only reason they even pretend to hate the weak is that they see their reflection in them.
At one point in their life, they have been in their place too.
Even here, the only reason they are trying to stop them is that they are strong. It's their fear of themselves and their own weakness that they hate the most.
Just imagine if the invading species were actually weak... the situation would have been completely opposite then.
The same people who are desperately fighting now would have turned their desperation into mockery and laughed at those invaders.
Alas, that could only end up being a 'What if' moment.
Aurora could only shoot an angry glare at him. It did not matter if he was involved with the invaders or not, what he said was true.
If she had enough strength to face them without any worry, then she wouldn't have reacted like this at all.
Being invaded will indeed make her angry, but she would have dealt with it easily and not struggled every day to worry about what was going to happen next.
"As for your concern, I am not with them, and never will be part of them. Just because you couldn't achieve it doesn't mean no one else can, I formed my core on my own. No one helped me with that."
He gritted his teeth, trying to cool himself off after the sudden outburst.
He was also angry at himself. He called her weak, but in truth, he wasn't far off either.
"Now, I will give you one second to remove this sword from my neck. If not, then I won't hold back either."
His voice was firm, his eyes resolute. This wasn't something a child would say, and absolutely not someone who couldn't back his words.
The person she thought of as a child till now wasn't actually a child at all.
Still hesitant, she decided to sheathe her sword again. But that did not mean she trusted him one bit.
She only did that cause she could send him back to his original position once again.
After the sword was removed from his neck, he finally could move his head.
He adjusted his body, standing up once again.
Aurora looked at the man before him in a different light and asked,
"If you are not one of them, then how do you even know about them?"
Noah shrugged his shoulder, looking down at his naked body once again, and replied,
"I heard about them from Drever."
Obviously, that was a lie.
"He told you?" Aurora questioned, baffled that someone like Drever would tell this to his son.
"No. I heard when he was talking about this to his mother. It was only a coincidence that I heard that."
He was lying fluently as if he was breathing. Well, an added perk of being an author, you can create a scenario that never happened and portray it like you have witnessed it from start to end.
Aurora squinted her eyes. Clearly she wasn't a child either to believe whatever he says, so she added, "You heard everything about them from a single conversation?"
Based on the reaction she saw and how he said he wasn't involved with them, it was clear he knew more than what someone who simply 'heard' would know.
"There were other incidents too. Like once I ventured into a ruin and found out about the other world, then I got to know about other races too. More interested in them, I went inside more and more ruins and found out about the invaders that now live on our planet."
It was utter bullshit, even Aurora wasn't having that.
Yet, she did not act like before.
If he were really with those invaders, then he wouldn't have done as he did just now.
Every invader she had met and even killed till now, there was one thing common about them.
They were prideful beyond belief. In that case, Noah was prideful too, but it was a bit different.
Those invaders weren't simply prideful, but they loathed the people of this world.
Treating the people here as ants. Using them to fuel their powers.
Noah was arrogant, and his exponential growth was a mystery and something very suspicious.
But it could be that, he really was a genius. That was the case of that happening being almost zero.
He mostly had 3 years after he awakened his affinity, and in that time frame, he cultivated, without anyone knowing and even formed his core.
There was no way she could just let it slide so easily when the future of her world depended on her decision.
She was sure he knew about them more than someone who had just met them by coincidence, but was he really with them?
That's a different matter.
Still, she couldn't just let him go without anything. Even if he wasn't with them, his knowing so much about them was still suspicious.
As for his so-called interest in the other world and his venturing inside the ruins... There was no way she was going to believe that.
If he were really with them, then she would immediately come and kill him without a doubt, but even if the possibility was thinner than the web of a spider...
It could become the key to fighting those invaders.
As Noah said, they were weak and she understood that very well.
If she were strong, then the invasion of Netherkins and even those invaders wouldn't have happened.
If she were strong, then the destruction of so many noble houses wouldn't have happened, which included the families of Rose and Niva.
If only she were stronger, she might have stopped them from happening.
"I don't know how you know about them so much. I also don't know how you managed to form a core only after 3 years of awakening your affinity. But I will trust you for now. However, don't think I believe in your ridiculous story."
Aurora said, her tone cold and firm. She then moved her hand, placing it on his chest.
"Do remember this, if I found out that you have even a little connection with them, then I will kill you without a moment of hesitation. I won't care what background you have, I won't care if your father is the duke either, I will do anything if it's for the protection of my home."
Noah listened to her intently and nodded his head.
She wasn't a woman driven by her anger. She is desperate.
He knows that more than anyone.
The burden of being the strongest is the toughest one. No one can carry that burden forever.
If you crumble, who everyone calls the strongest, then how can others handle themselves?
"I understand. You can rest assured, I am not with them. I don't need anyone's assistance to become the strongest. Call it arrogance, but no one can ever be compared to me. If you think my growth is related to those beings who pride themselves upon their meagre strength, then you are completely wrong."
He was firm in his place too. Even though he had a system unlike others, which helped him in his sudden growth.
But that didn't mean he couldn't reach this strength without anyone's help.
Moreover, he earned the reward himself. He was the one who fucked Eleanor after all, so his strength was earned too.
He then added,
"But you remember this as well. I won't work for you, nor work to save this world. I won't carry the burden of protecting this world. If you are letting me go, thinking I will become the backbone of this planet and save them, then you are wrong. I won't, unless it comes to saving the people I love, I won't care."
He leaned forward, closing the distance between them and continued,
"So don't place your hopes on me. In a year, I will even surpass you. That's not arrogance, that's my confidence. Even then, I won't care if this world gets destroyed, I only care about my family and my woman, that includes only my mother, sister and Rose, no one else besides them. But..."
He moved his hand, pinching her chin and said,
"It will be a different matter if you become my woman. Who knows, I might actually help you."
He smirked while saying that, which completely infuriated Aurora. She smacked his hand away with lightning speed and growled, "You wish to die?"
Noah did not care if she was angry, he maintained his lecherous smile and replied,
"Maybe, but I know you won't kill me. And I am not saying this as a joke either. That offer is a limited-time one only."
He had only finished speaking when suddenly he felt a heavy push, sending him flying away from his position. He only stopped after he was smashed into a tree.
Aurora glanced at him with a cold glint in her eyes and said,
"You said a year, right? Fine, if you can surpass me in a year, then I will become your woman. If not, then, you will form a slave pact with me. Train well, so-called confident genius, you only have a year of freedom. However, if I find your connection with them, then you will die before the period of a year, so be careful. You might not even live for a year to surpass me."
She disappeared after saying that.
