Tribal Sign-In: Immortal At The Start

Chapter 148: Glory to Our Liege

Rion reached the other group leaders and placed the unconscious Drokan beside a nearby boulder.

He walked over to Morvak, who had been unconscious until now, and asked, "You want to have a go as well?"

Morvak, who had just been healed by Zaelyane's life flame — a healing flame created by the combination of ether and aura — looked at Drokan, Zoka, Grathar, and Rheak with a baffled expression and whispered, "You defeated all four of them...?"

"Why? You cannot believe it?" Rion asked while tightening his grip around the shaft of the spear.

Morvak trembled, rapidly shook his head, and stammered, "I-I was just confused."

'That was easy... and I thought of him as one of those hot-headed ones,' Rion sighed inwardly.

Morvak suddenly shot up to his feet, picked up his azrath club, and said, "Let's go."

Confusion covered Rion's eyes. He turned toward Morvak and asked with a tilted head, "What are you doing?"

Morvak furrowed his brows and voiced his thoughts, "Aren't we going to train now?"

Rion blinked a few times and mumbled, "Train...?"

Morvak scanned the others and, after seeing the strange expressions on everyone's faces, said, "You are going to train us as the high commander, no?"

'I judged his smarts too early,' Rion thought. His lips opened and closed for a few moments before he looked at Marin and said, "Can you explain to them what we are going to do?"

Marin chuckled and commented, "You've been doing everything by yourself. Why don't you do that as well?"

Rion scratched the back of his head and mumbled, "I just didn't want to waste any more time."

Marin laughed and looked at Morvak as he explained, "The high commander is not going to train you. You will train the squad members and leaders who use the same weapons or combat skills as you."

Morvak frowned and stated, "What about my training?"

"You are already at a level where you have to see your weapon differently than a simple weapon. By helping the squad members, you'd see and listen to their thoughts, which will help you in that regard," Marin explained.

Morvak nodded, scratched the back of his head, and mumbled, "So I won't train...?"

Suddenly, Sovra walked over to him and whispered something in his ear.

Others raised their eyebrows, and Morvak's eyes widened before he spoke, "Ah, so we are going to use the squad members as dummies to train. That's good."

Sovra blinked, looked at the others, and stated evenly, "That's not what I said."

Morvak frowned, looked at Sovra, and his lips parted to complain, but a voice stopped the words in his throat.

"Shut up, you birdbrain!" Naqir yelled, looked at Marin, and said, "Please continue, Vice Lord."

Marin gave him a nod and continued with a smile, "Instead of having different kinds of warriors, your group will consist of warriors that suit your battle style, and each group will have fixed tasks to complete during the war."

Morvak's lips parted to question, but Naqir's glare shut him up.

Marin turned toward Arok and said, "The Hoarder will provide everyone taking part in the war with new weapons and armour—light and heavy, based on the person's needs."

His gaze shifted toward Zaelyane, and he added, "The Doctor will teach the gatherers about the pills and medicine, using which the squad members will progress faster than usual."

He pointed toward the south.

"The former hunters will also teach the trainees and squad members if required, and they can impart their aura techniques to them."

Rheak, who had already been healed, stepped forward and commented, "So you want me to build a group in which everyone is a master of daggers."

Marin nodded.

Rheak frowned, turned his head toward Rion, and asked, "What would be the point of that?"

Rion looked at him for a few moments and explained, "The Remnant knows Dhaevrak very well... if we don't use new and better strategies, all of us will die without doing anything to them."

Everyone's expression darkened; they bit their lips and clenched their fists.

Rion patted Rheak's shoulder and said, "Even though The Remnant can control multiple bodies, they are still one... I just have to free them one time, and the war will be over."

"So we aren't training them to tear through their army; instead, we are preparing them to hold their ground until you find the way," Zoka stated with a thoughtful look.

Rion smiled and nodded. "Indeed."

Marin clapped once and announced, "Alright, we should return now."

Rion nodded and turned toward the south.

He took a step and stopped upon sensing that no one else was moving.

His brows furrowed, and he spoke, "What's wrong?"

Just as Rion turned toward them, thuds echoed throughout the area as their knees hit the ground, and his gaze fell on the nine group leaders who were kneeling before him.

"What are you all doing...?" he asked while knowing very well what they were doing.

Haria looked at him with a grin and placed a hand on her heart.

Zoka did the same. Drokan. Grathar. Sovra. Naqir. Kara. Morvak. Rheak.

All of them did the same, and their voices boomed through the sky as they shouted in unison.

"GLORY TO THE GODS! GLORY TO THE MAN!"

"GLORY TO THE GODS! GLORY TO THE HIGH COMMANDER!"

"GLORY TO THE GODS! GLORY TO OUR LIEGE!"

Rion's heart began to beat like a drum. The corners of his lips rose into a joyful grin, and he declared, "I shall free you from your shackles and help you achieve the freedom you deserve! STAND WITH ME!"

His voice reached all of them as he spoke, enhancing it with his aura.

"AS YOU COMMAND!"

They stood up.

Marin approached Rion and offered him a fang with blue cracks running all over it.

Rion looked at the fang with curious eyes and asked, "What is this?"

Marin's fingers brushed across the surface of the fang, and he answered, "This is a Dragon's Fang... It is said to help one hold their oath."
