Tribal Sign-In: Immortal At The Start

Chapter 33: Age of Ceremony [1]

Just as water moves on its own will, time sprinted and three years passed in a blink.

Rion, who held a spear in his left hand and Karhun, who wore gauntlets in both of his hands, prowled through the forest north to the Redwood Basin and Redwood Den.

According to the rituals of the Dhaevrak tribe, both of them had to catch a prey to become a squad member... and their prey wasn't something of fantasy or imagination. No, it was a normal beast.

This ritual symbolised the growth of a young Dhaevrak from a child to a warrior capable of knowing the secrets of the deep southern forest.

"We just have to hunt a dark wolf, right?" Karhun asked while following behind Rion, who had grown much taller than before. Especially because of the White Quali that Dora had gifted him on his twelfth birthday.

Rion, who had reached the sharp age of fifteen, turned his head towards Karhun and said, "Yes, and we need to prepare a meal out of it afterwards."

"I can do that," Karhun replied confidently.

Rion grinned and said, "I know you can, that's why I am here with you."

Karhun frowned at his words and asked in a slightly gloomy tone, "So you aren't with me cause we are friends?"

Rion stopped in his tracks and gave him a deadpan look. He remarked, "There are many others who can do the same, yet I am here with you, no one else..." he turned back and continued, "You need to do something about your terrible conversation skills."

Karhun frowned and mumbled to himself, "I'm trying..."

Yet, Rion was able to hear him.

His lips arched up as he said, "I know... You are doing well. It's at least better than saying thank you like you are spitting on someone's face."

Karhun's expression turned into one of embarrassment as he remembered how he had thanked Rion after he had woken them up during the ritual of youth.

The smile continued to tug at Rion's lips as he read his profile after ages.

He focused on the Godflare skill, and another tab appeared beside the profile.

————

'Enlightened aura, huh...' he inwardly shook his head at the absurd requirement to unlock the Godflare skill.

As far as he knew, Aura had three stages that went from Basic Aura, which he had awakened at the age of 12 and after that came the Enhanced Aura, and finally the Enlightened Aura.

To unlock Godflare, he would have to reach what is considered the peak of aura itself.

'I have to farm aura, heh,' he chuckled at the thought, and the sound of nearly silent footsteps reached his ears.

Scrf… scrf…

He stopped in his tracks and raised his right arm to stop Karhun.

Karhun halted, looked at him with a puzzled look and asked, "What's wrong?"

Rion put a finger on his lips, gesturing for him to be silent. He pointed his finger towards the right bushes and mumbled in a barely audible voice, "Something's there..."

Karhun's eyes turned sharp; he gave Rion a silent nod and began to watch the bushes with narrowed eyes.

A few moments passed in silence, and suddenly, the bushes began to rustle.

Tshhk… shhk…

The bushes parted right after, and a rabbit with blue fur jumped out of them. It looked at both of them with its big black eyes before running away.

"It's just a blue rabbit..." Karhun mumbled dejectedly. 'Do we have to go deeper?' He thought darkly, already feeling the soreness from treading the deep forest.

He expected it to be a dark wolf, but considering that they weren't even that far from the settlement, it made sense for them not to find one yet, and... his thoughts would've been true if they weren't at the red and black mountains.

He turned his head at Rion and blinked his eyes in bafflement as he thought, 'His eyes were red just now... or am I imagining things?'

Rion continued to stare at the bushes.

Suddenly, they parted, and a dark wolf, the size of an adult human, lunged at him with its maw wide open.

The razor-sharp fangs of the dark wolf that were covered in blood grew in his vision, and before Karhun could even react to the sudden ambush, he pierced the head of the dark wolf with his spear.

Shrik!

The sharp, metal iron head entered through its upper jaw and came out from the back of its head.

Splurt!

Blood poured out from its maw and the back of his head, but Rion paid it no heed. Instead, he pulled his spear and muttered with a wide grin, "This will do, huh?"

He turned his head towards Karhun and frowned because Karhun was staring at him with an expression between bafflement and horror.

"What's wrong?" He questioned.

Karhun violently shook his head and mumbled, "N-nothing."

He nodded, shifted his head towards the dead wolf and asked while rubbing his chin, "Should I pick it up on my shoulders?"

Karhun quickly walked over to the dead wolf and answered with a shake of his head, "L-let me take care of this, you keep your eyes for other beasts."

He nodded at his smart thinking and spun his spear before announcing, "Back to the den!"

Karhun closed the eyes of the wolf and mumbled, "May you reach the celestia," before picking it up on his shoulder.

He looked at Rion's lean yet dependable back and mumbled the single thought that had always been constant whenever he had met him, "Damned monster..."

Rion, on the other hand, had a frown as he thought, 'I have to sharpen my instincts somehow... I had to use Predator's Eyes to look for the wolf.'

His immortal body and bloodline made him adept too fast. Thus, his instincts couldn't be sharpened naturally.

He lifted his head and looked in the direction of the Redwood Den and thought, 'Maybe I would get something related to it after signing in at the remaining two locations...'
