Rion's eyebrows arched up. He gestured his squad to follow and stepped inside Arok's forge.
The inside of Arok's forge came into his vision.
At the left end was the klin still burning with flames - thirsty for more metal. A table with all sorts of needed tools was placed at the right end, and at the left of the entrance was the happy couple of an anvil and a hammer, both of which were made out of mythiron.
Finally, at the right of the entrance were short stools that Arok mainly used for his lovely weapons and at the far end was a door that led to the treasury that no one except him could enter.
Rion looked at his squad and pointed at the stools. They nodded and took their seats.
Arok, on the other hand, opened the door leading to the treasury and said, "Tell me what types of weapons you all want."
Rion turned his head towards his squad and gave them a nod of approval.
Yuura was the first one to answer, "Daggers."
Karhun answered after him, "Gauntlets."
Dora, who had her bow broken by Zukah, spoke afterwards, "Bow."
Tarun responded at the end, "Mace."
Arok nodded, turned his head towards Rion and asked, "What about you?"
"Spear," Rion replied.
Arok's weathered lips bent up slightly, and he commented, "Hoh, following in the footsteps of your father?"
However, no one was able to see his smile as it was hidden beneath his silver beard.
A soft smile creased Rion's lips, and he answered with a slight nod, "I am trying to."
Arok pushed the door leading to the treasury and said before stepping inside, "You don't have to follow others to prove yourself... You won't find a dragon to kill, after all."
A cheery smile crossed Rion, and he replied with a chuckle, "Heh, we don't really know. If I don't find a new one, I can just ask the old one to wake up."
All of them chuckled at his words, and Arok stepped inside, closing the door behind him.
Just as he left, all of Rion's squad members heaved a tired sigh of relief.
Dora looked at him and said, "You are still as dumb as before."
The others didn't know Rion for that long, so all they could do was nod without context.
Yuura also spoke with his eyes glowing in awe, "How did you manage to break that dagger with your mouth? I've heard no one has been able to break it."
Rion smiled and shrugged in reply.
Tarun and Kahrun didn't say anything and just continued to stare at him as they thought, 'How strong is he?'
None of them, not even Rion himself, knew how strong he was because even at the age of eight, he had become as strong as a three-year trainee because of Haria's training.
At the age of twelve, he had defeated a two-horned kareth, which was as strong as a squad leader.
Crek...
The treasury's door creaked open, and Arok stepped out of it with leather bags in his hand and on his back.
Each bag was full of different kind of weapons.
There were multiple types of daggers, gauntlets, bows, spears and maces peeking out of them.
The chamber shook slightly when he placed the bags on the ground and said, while dusting off his hands, "Pick the ones you want, and I'll forge similar ones."
Rion's squad jumped off their stools and walked over to the bags.
Rion, however, didn't walk to the bags; instead, he walked over to Arok and asked, "Can you tell me about my grandfather?"
Arok looked into his eyes for a few moments before he shook his head and said, "You should ask your mother."
Rion frowned and said, "She never talks about him."
Arok exhaled deeply with his hands on his waist and suggested, "Then ask her with the same stubbornness and craftiness that you used on me. Now, go choose your weapon."
The corners of Rion's lips trembled slightly. He placed his hand on the table and muttered, "Use this to forge our weapons."
Arok raised an eyebrow and looked at the tables. Just as his eyes fell on the 5kg azrath, they widened, and he asked, "Where did you get so much of it?"
Rion placed a finger on his lips and said, "Secret."
Arok shifted his gaze between the lovely kid Rion and the love of his life and stated with a warm, energetic smile, "I'll make sure to forge the best weapons for you and your squad."
Rion nodded and walked over to the bags to pick up the type of spear he wanted.
Nearly an hour passed after they selected the weapons, and Arok had told them that he would use his own materials if the azrath alone wasn't enough for them.
Currently, they were making their way towards the vice lord's hut because they had to tell him about Rion finishing the requirements to learn the common tongue of humans.
Excitement was all over their faces as they couldn't wait to see their new weapons.
After a few more minutes, they reached the vice lord's hut.
Rion knocked at the door.
Tkk! Tkk!
"Come in," Marin answered from inside.
He pushed the door and stepped inside, followed by the four members of his squad.
Marin looked at them with his usual kind eyes, and a warm smile stretched across his face.
"So, you got Tarun as your last member, huh... Can't say I am not surprised, but... what about the squad leader?" Marin asked as he shifted his eyes between all of them.
Rion took a step and answered, "Balthar from Haria's group would be teaching me."
Marin frowned and asked, "Balthar? Doesn't he have to go for the hunt with his own squad?"
Rion nodded. "He does."
Marin leaned back in his chair and asked, "Then how are you planning to learn from him?"
Rion looked into Marin's eyes, and a smirk appeared on his face as he answered, "We will be going with them."
Dumbfounded, Marin blinked a few times and stammered, "What?"
