"This is not the final wave!"
His words thundered throughout the campsite, and everyone finally came out of their reverie.
They forced away their envy and quickly picked up their weapons before getting into position to shoot arrows and hurl spears at the kareths once again.
"Tsk." Rion clicked his tongue, and a one-horned leapt at him from behind, but just as it was about to claw at him, white lightning crackled between them.
Yuura appeared before the kareth with white flames licking the dark blades of his daggers, and in the very next moment, he plunged both daggers into its core.
The kareth's body trembled violently and broke apart into dark dust. At the same time, Kahrun, Tarun and other squad leaders appeared beside him.
The other squad leaders glanced at him with fear and something they had yet to understand.
They tore their gaze away from him and stepped forward to launch attacks at the remaining kareths.
He ignored them and smiled broadly at Yuura before he said, "You're late, you numbnut."
Yuura blinked and nodded at him as if he couldn't understand what was going on.
Rion frowned. "What's wrong?"
Yuura stared at him for a few moments before he forced out the question.
"Didn't you say that I am half as strong as you?" He looked around at the crater, the cracks and the uprooted trees before he continued, "But I do not believe that I can do something like this..."
The understanding finally dawned on Rion, and he explained with a nod,
"Indeed, you can't do something like this because your strength is in precision, not destruction. The more precise you are, the stronger your attacks would be, and at your current level, your most precise attack is half as strong as mine."
Yuura's eyes sparked into joy, and he nodded earnestly before getting ready to rip apart the incoming horde with his howling wolf daggers.
The nearby squad leaders weren't sure if it was praise or not, but seeing Yuura's sparkling eyes, they could assume it was indeed praise.
Rion patted Yuura's back and whispered, "Go."
Yuura nodded and white lightning crackled around his body before he zipped towards the kareth.
White lightning and white aura flames danced within the horde, and wherever they went, the kareths exploded into dark dust.
Rion shifted his eyes at Tarun and Kahrun, who were working together like a sword and shield while prowling through the horde like frenzied bulls.
His lips arched up into a smile, and he curiously eyed the other squad leaders.
'Four of them are just as strong as Tarun and Kahrun...'
His eyes shifted towards a squad leader who was battling at the front.
Ryunk was mindlessly cutting through the kareths with indigo aura flames at the edge of his battle axe when he suddenly felt goosebumps all over his body.
He traced the gaze that was digging holes at the back of his head, and his eyes met Rion's.
His body shuddered as he thought, 'W-Why is that monster looking at me?! Did I do something wrong?'
He determined his heart and poured more of his aura into the battle axe before swinging it even more furiously.
'Sorry for whatever I did!!'
Rion nodded and noted inwardly, 'He is just as strong as Yuura.'
All of the squad leaders were at least a decade older than him and his squad, but they had yet to reach the limit of their potential.
'Nothing wrong with gaining more subordinates.'
His eyes stayed on Ryunk for a few moments before he mumbled, "Now isn't the time," and looked away.
He looked at the remaining squad leaders, but no one else caught his eye.
They pushed back the undying kareth, and Rion watched over everyone and only stepped in to either save someone or kill any new three-horned kareth.
Minutes pooled into hours as they continued to attack, and the number of kareths dwindled to single digits.
Everyone's face brightened... everyone except Rion.
'What is going on?'
His eyebrows knit together, and he turned to look at Dora, who was standing at the top of the cliff with her bow aimed at the forest, but she was no longer conscious.
He sprinted towards a nearby tree and quickly climbed it to check for the kareth.
"What?" He mumbled dumbfoundedly as there were no kareths.
His heart began to beat faster, and a bad premonition shrouded him.
"Something's wrong."
He skipped onto the other trees, which were taller and looked ever further, but just as before, he found no kareth, and before long, the battlefield went silent.
Everyone looked around with fatigued and puzzled faces before they raised their arms to announce their victory, but before they could do so, Rion jumped down, and his voice thundered throughout the battlefield.
"YUURA!"
Yuura, who was catching his breath by the side of a tree, looked at him with tired eyes.
Rion appeared before him and stated darkly, "You have to tell Haria that something is wrong."
Yuura's expression turned uneasy, but instead of asking further questions, he pushed his body off the tree and muttered weakly, "Alright..."
Everyone looked at Rion with confused faces, and Tarun asked with a worried frown.
"What's wrong?"
Instead of answering, Rion searched around for Ryunk. A few moments later, he found him, and he asked while pointing at him, "You. Is this your first hunt?"
Ryunk pointed at himself and mumbled with a dumbfounded expression, "Me?"
Rion's expression cracked in irritation, and he said, "Yes. You."
"N-No, it's my fifth."
Rion nodded and asked, "Have you ever finished it so early?"
Ryunk fell silent, and someone else answered, "No..."
Unease spread, and all of the tribesmen began to murmur among themselves.
Rion grabbed onto Yuura's shoulders and said, "Make sure to tell her everything."
Yuura nodded, and white lightning flickered around him, but before he could move, an authoritative voice echoed throughout the battlefield.
"There is no need for you to go anywhere."
