"Come in, Task Force Z! Task Force Z, come in! Dammit!" President Zafina threw her communicator onto the ground, destroying it in her fit of rage. On the screen, she could see that the signals coming from the Task Force had gone quiet, meaning they were either dead or there was some sort of interference that blocked communications.
"We had cameras on their ship, right?"
"Yes, Madam President."
"Well, pull them up already!"
"We're working on that, Madam. Please be patient."
"Patient? We are risking everything right now, and you're telling me to be patient? One wrong move and this will lead to a war!"
"W-We understand, but please just hold on a bit longer."
"Speed things up!"
'You're the one who's putting us in this position! Just shut the fuck up and let us do our jobs!' There was no way the assistant was going to say that out loud, so she just waited for the results to arrive.
After ten long minutes, the footage was recovered.
"Madam President, here!"
Zafina played the footage and saw exactly how everything went down. Her anger rose, and she ended up crushing the tablet in her hand.
"What shall we do?" The assistant wondered
"Clean up our involvement in this matter. We can't have anyone learn we were the ones behind this."
"Understood."
'Dammit! Who attacked my secret agents?'
---
"So you're the famous Jin Telegard, huh? You aren't so impressive in person." The woman looked him up and down and smirked
'A ten-circle mage? Two of them? Are all of the people who work for Eve this powerful? If so, then this will be a problem for the others.'
"Hey, Madam Eve told us not to provoke him. Let's just take him to the base."
"It seems that at least one of you is reasonable. Listen, I don't care to harm you, but I will if I have to. So, tell me who Eve is and where she is, and I'll let you go. I swear." Jin was being honest.
"Pfft. You may be strong, but you're not strong enough to take the two of us on together." The confident and arrogant woman smirked
Jin simply nodded and turned his attention to the calm and collective woman.
"Would you like to test out what she just claimed?" He asked
"No, not really."
"It seems your friend doesn't believe in what you claim, so let me be a bit more direct." Jin broke out of his restraints and bombarded the two of them with his mana.
It was so intense that the ocean started to move chaotically. The tides started to act up, tsunamis started to form without earthquakes, and even the sky darkened, rumbling with lightning and thunder.
They couldn't believe someone could be this powerful; it made no sense to them. According to Madam Eve, the strongest anyone could be was having ten circles, which they had, but Jin's power felt as if it were leagues above their own, which it was.
"Since you want to act tough, let's see how tough that mind of yours is." Grabbing the woman, Jin forcefully entered her mind, encountering the same mental spell that blocked him from reading her thoughts.
"Not this time." He didn't care how long it took; he was going to find out who Eve was, her current location, and what she was doing.
---
"Ohhh! He's doing this, huh? Well, I guess I have to go with plan D then." Eve could sense what Jin was doing to her people and decided to play along.
It was unfortunate that the transport was destroyed, but she did expect some pushback, albeit not to this extent. She also couldn't frame Othrys because her people killed the secret agents without gathering proof of their alignment, so she would use Jin to her advantage instead.
"Send word to the Prime Minister and the Queen. Jin was behind the destruction of the transports, including the deaths of the people inside. He was ordered by President Zafina to kill them all and return to the country."
"Yes, Madam Eve."
"Hmm, should I remove the mental spell? Nooo, that would be boring. Oh, how about I...He broke it. Wow, I'm impressed. Though I bet his head is throbbing like crazy."
"Should I send a clone, madam?"
"No, that wont be...What the hell are you still doing here? Didn't I tell you to send word to the Prime Minister and Queen?"
"I-I already did, though."
"Really? Oh. Okay. Well, then, clear this place out. Jin will be arriving soon."
"Understood."
Eve wasn't worried about Jin finding where her base was. In fact, she had multiple bases and even more false locations planted in her people's minds. As she waited, she turned on the news for the eventual declaration of war and sat in her chair comfortably.
Twenty minutes later, her assistant cleared everything out of the base.
"I have finished, Madam."
"Good. You may leave now. I can sense Jin approaching."
"I-I can stay by your side, help you beat him."
"Sweet, but you won't be needed. Now leave, before I make you." Her tone changed from playful to serious, and her aura became dark and violent.
"Y-Yes, Madam Eve." The assistant left.
Around five minutes later, Jin arrived by crashing through the ceiling and landing in front of Eve, a smirk on his face.
"My head hurts because of you." He chuckled, taking a seat.
"That's to be expected. You forcibly broke a mental spell after all. Granted, that one was weaker than the others you've encountered, but still."
He frowned but didn't let what she said affect him.
"Hiding in the shadows? Are you scared?" He couldn't see Eve, no matter how hard he tried. Each time he looked at her, her body would be covered in shadows. He couldn't even determine who she was by sensing her mana.
"Darling, do you truly believe that I would be scared of you? I've known about your existence ever since the day you were in your mother's womb. I could have killed you ages ago. Yet you ask me if I'm scared?"
Jin felt the subtle change in her mana. It was dark, full of anger and resentment, and most importantly, powerful.
Once again, he tried to learn who she was by sensing her mana, but he couldn't. In fact, it felt as if she didn't have mana at all. It was as if mana feared her.
"Alright. Let's just get this out of the way since you don't want to tell me who you are. What do you want with me?"
Eve smiled. "To kill you, of course."
