"Rael Von Ashborn." One of them said coldly. "You are to be arrested immediately under the Noxvalen Code of Conduct, Section Seventeen."
"You have the right to remain silent until your disciplinary hearing, which will take place in the presence of the Student Council President."
I slowly wiped the blood off my face, making sure my smile never faded.
There was no reason to act sad or regretful anymore.
Even if everything didn't go according to my expectations… I couldn't let the opportunity go to ruin.
If I couldn't be the benevolent guy… then I would simply become the blood-crazed monster they now believed me to be.
After all, fear was also a powerful tool for manipulation. Just a step below respect and admiration and I didn't mind using it at all… if the situation demanded it.
Meanwhile, the other student council member approached me with emerald-colored handcuffs in hand.
It was mana blockers, the standard issue for offenders and the two who had arrived were members of the Disciplinary Committee of the Noxvalen Student Council.
I was just about to raise my hands when the sharp clash of metal rang out.
The council member halted, gripping something sharp between his fingers as he coldly stared at the girl who had appeared beside him and attacked with a scythe without any hesitation.
He was holding the blade's tip bare-handed without even flinching.
The girl was Arza… whom I had instructed to interfere if I was ever in danger and that foolish girl had actually done it now.
I couldn't help but sigh.
Not because she stepped in but because the boy in front of her was a peak B-Rank resonant and she had thrown herself into danger just because I told her to.
All for fifty chocolates.
She was truly, hopelessly committed to her job.
"Hey, Arza, it's fine." I said calmly before she could make things worse. "Stop."
Arza glanced at me, then at the boy.
After a brief pause, she loosened her grip and calmly withdrew her scythe back into her storage ring.
"Sorry about that," I said calmly, my smile never leaving my face.
"Nah, it's fine." The boy replied casually, far from the tense reaction I had expected. "We deal with situations like this once in a while."
"Your fiancée seems pretty protective of you."
I didn't respond and simply kept smiling, deliberately ignoring the fact that I was covered head to toe in my own blood, with streaks of gray blood from Rex still smeared across my face.
Meanwhile, the human students continued chanting my name.
In response, I slowly raised both my hands and stepped forward alongside the student council members.
Arza followed close behind but I glanced at her and spoke calmly.
"You go ahead, Arza. I'll meet you after I get everything sorted out."
She didn't respond for a second and then nodded calmly.
Having her with me might have seemed like a good idea but there was one simple reason I didn't want Arza anywhere near this.
The Student Council President.
It was time to meet the yandere brocon sister of our dear protagonist… And also the woman whose hands Noah had chopped off back when he was just a kid.
Alya Ashen Noctharion AKA The twentieth daughter of Demon King Ashavar.
—
Meanwhile as the student council carried Rael away, the screams of his name echoed even within the room of Varek.
He gritted his teeth as he heard those filthy bugs, calling out names of his enemies like some messiah.
"I will make sure he will pay for his arrogance."
Just then, a woman entered the room, her steps slow and measured. It was his cousin, Rexica. The one he had tasked with gathering information on Rael.
"You do know that guy is playing you, right?" She muttered, her voice cold, yet laced with amusement. "He's trying to become a hero to the human students and incite a revolt against you."
Varek frowned.
"Do you take me for a fool?" His voice was just as cold.
"Then why did you let him off so easily?" She asked. "Why did you add fuel to the fire by calling humans filthy after everything he said?"
"I don't believe you are the type to be blinded by cheap provocations." She continued. "Are you?"
Varek looked at her calmly as a faint smile curled on his lips.
"Humans are like sheep." He said. "They follow whoever dominates them and they have followed me for a year now but sooner or later, someone was bound to rise."
"And we still have two years left in this academy."
"So instead of letting that someone appear out of nowhere, unexpectedly…" his smile widened slightly, "…I decided to turn Rael into that someone."
"When I crush him thoroughly in front of everyone, humans and demons alike will never question my authority again."
A cruel smile appeared on Rexica's face. "Thought so."
"Let the humans think they are free… let them think they have a hope, so when I crush that hope, they will see how pointless it was."
—
Meanwhile, inside the calm and luxurious office of the Student Council President, a white-haired girl with crimson eyes sat gracefully on an oversized chair.
Alya Ashen Noctharion.
Her body was small and her feet didn't even reach the floor from the chair.
And yet, her expression was anything but childish as she carefully scanned the photographs one of her subordinates had sent her.
They showed her half-brother Noah taken without his knowledge. He was chatting casually with a blonde girl who had violet eyes.
Who is this bitch standing next to my Noah?
How dare she get this close to my brother?
Before she could finish the thought, a knock echoed through her office. She quickly slid the photographs away, her expression shifting back to cold neutrality.
"I've brought Rael Von Ashborn," The intruder announced.
Her lips parted slightly.
"Come in."
She was no longer the girl seething over some random woman standing too close to her brother, she was the Student Council President of Noxvalen.
