The battle was chaotic. Combat occurred simultaneously between the fence and throughout the plains, and the subjugation force directly faced the Legion of Wrath monsters impersonating the Demon King's army.
Orcs to the south.
Undead and raven demons to the east.
And a rain of arrows pouring over the soldiers' heads.
It was a situation of being attacked from three directions in total, and the front lines were gradually widening. Though numerical superiority belonged to the subjugation force, the Ras Legion monsters, strong individually, persistently whittled down the humans' combat power.
"Uwooooh!!"
The orcs struck the soldiers at the front lines with weapons using strength. The orcs smashed through the battle lines using only strength without any particular technique, and the humans' equipment began breaking one by one.
"Aaaah!"
Eventually, the empty-handed soldier ended up in a bare-handed contest of strength against an orc whose weapon broke. The orc raised his fist and threw a straight punch at the soldier's face, and the soldier passed out with a broken nose.
"Kyahahaha!"
The Harpy Angels flying through the air flew over the subjugation force's airspace throwing things randomly. Most were fragments of destroyed houses, and a rain of sharp wooden pieces fell from the sky. Hitting armor was tolerable, but when falling on skin, it stung like bee stings.
"Kill them all-ras!!"
The raven demons swung their claws scratching soldiers on the ground. The soldiers laughed at the raven demons swinging claws and clashed swords.
Clang!
The soldiers were flustered. Far from the claws being cut, the iron sword almost flew off as if bouncing from rebound. The raven demons' well-honed claws were harder than ordinary steel. And the tips of the claws were sharper than awls.
Thunk!
Claws pierced soldiers' necks. And ghouls in the gaps between raven demons pounced on the soldiers' lower bodies.
Crunch!
"Aaaah!!"
When a raven demon subdued one soldier, two ghouls rushed in greedily and sank their teeth into the soldier's exposed skin. The soldier writhed in agony but it was useless.
The Ras Legion's momentum was truly overwhelming. The orcs on the fence gradually began pushing soldiers beyond the fence, and with ghouls and raven demons causing chaos from the east, soldiers naturally had no choice but to be pushed northwest. One wrong move and they'd almost be pushed to a position with their backs to the river.
But the soldiers couldn't retreat. The two knights who should give the retreat order had to pour all their attention into combat to protect Father Francis.
"Graaah!!"
The robed orc swung his mace while avoiding arrows flying at him. Gray blocked the mace with a round shield rolling on the ground, but before long, the shield itself shattered. Gray realized he absolutely couldn't handle this alone.
"Sir Faiz!"
"Die, you monster!"
Knight Faiz thrust his pike. The orc twisted his waist avoiding the pike's blade. But the area that could be called his waist itself was wide, so the pike's tip eventually stabbed the orc's side.
Thunk!
"What?!"
The pike stabbed the orc's robe and slid off. Though there was definitely a sensation of stabbing belly fat, the spear only made a hole in the robe without causing any damage.
"You idiot!"
The orc grabbed Faiz by the collar. Before Faiz could resist, the orc thrust the relatively sharp end of the mace up under Faiz's chin.
Thwack!
"Khaaaaah!!"
Faiz screamed in pain at the heat below his chin. The mace's tip hitting his jawbone was painful, but more than anything, it felt like his skin was being torn off by the grip strength of the orc's hand clutching his collar. Faiz's vision went dizzy.
"Y-you bas...!"
Even if it meant dropping his spear, he had to escape first. The moment Faiz tried to step back from the orc while drawing up mana.
Whoosh.
A wind arrow flying from somewhere pierced Faiz's neck. Faiz, held by the collar by the orc, went limp. The orc set Faiz's head on fire and began running forward, toward where Father Francis was.
"Move, move, move—!!"
The orc charged using Faiz's corpse as a bunker. Adventurers gathered to protect Francis hurriedly shot arrows, but all those arrows stuck in Faiz's back without any damage to the orc.
"Heaven-damned bastard!"
"Goddess, grant me strength to strike down the monster!!"
Adventurers drew up mana one by one while making signs to the Goddess. A silver aura began settling on their weapons. There weren't just one or two adventurers receiving the Goddess's blessing.
Slice, slice!
Every time they swung their weapons, the orc's weapon was cut off, and raven demons' claws were severed. When archers shot arrows at the sky, Harpy Angels' wings were precisely pierced and they tumbled to the ground.
The subjugation force grew stronger according to the Goddess's blessing. Gray cheered at the gradually decreasing number of monsters.
'As expected, this battle is our victory—'
"Graaaaaaah—!!"
The orc roared at the sky. At the act of lifting Faiz's burning corpse high and beating it with the mace, Gray's insides turned. The orc's cruel act of using a knight's corpse like a drum was unbearable to watch.
Thwack, thwack thwack!
But the more Faiz was beaten to pulp, the more red light from the orc's tattoo began spreading in all directions. That red light settled on the Ras Legion monsters like war paint drawn on their faces.
"Receive our wrath!"
"Receive our wrath-ras!"
Orcs whose weapons were cut grabbed blades with their hands and shattered them. Raven demons whose claws were cut pecked out soldiers' eyes with beaks harder than claws. At the roar the orc released in the middle of the battlefield, the Ras Legion monsters became excited and began exerting even stronger power.
"Khngh...!"
If they kept going like this, the damage would be too tremendous. Though adventurers who were experts against monsters were making great contributions, adventurers couldn't help other soldiers because of the Harpy Angels in the air.
"Die, you little human bastards!!"
Two Harpy Angels folded their wings avoiding arrows. Like raptors snatching prey, the two simultaneously grabbed an adventurer's shoulder armor with their claws and flew high into the sky. Originally they would have lacked strength, but the harpies strengthened by aura power easily lifted the adventurer into the air.
"Let go, you monsters!"
"Okay!"
Plop. The Harpy Angels released the adventurer from higher than the fence. The paled adventurer fell straight to the ground, and unluckily falling head-first, his neck twisted. Such adventurers and soldiers weren't just one or two.
"Sir Knight!!"
Adventurers screamed. The monster's clutches approaching the unconscious priest Francis didn't know how to stop. Gray's eyes welled up wondering where such monsters sprang from. Still, Francis had to be protected. His status, which couldn't simply be called a priest, was an existence that must be protected both as a knight and as a noble.
"Aaaah, you're blocking so damn well! Then let's see if you can block this too!"
The orc swinging the mace threw the mace to the ground and shouted.
"Gremory—!!"
Flap flap flap.
The Harpy Angels flying through the sky all flew up to high altitude at once. Gray shouted as if vomiting blood at the giant magic circle forming on the watchtower as soon as the orc shouted.
Gremory. The 7-circle elementalist demon who was the ruler of the rank 56 dungeon.
"Everyone take cover!!"
As soon as Gray's roar fell, a house-sized fireball was fired at the adventurers gathered around priest Francis. The adventurers fled in panic, and only the female adventurer who'd been carrying Francis laughed hollowly and passed out on top of Francis. The red-haired witch who climbed the watchtower twisted the corner of her mouth and struck down her staff.
"Flame!!"
The fireball that seemed ready to explode any moment flew precisely toward Francis. If the fireball fell like this, both would clearly burn to death.
Someone had to go save the two, or at least Francis. Gray had both the ability and was close enough, but he couldn't readily step forward.
'What if I get sniped going out? I should protect him, but must I protect him while risking my life? Even so?'
While Gray hesitated, a black shadow ran under the fireball and snatched the adventurer and Francis.
"Uhyuooooh!!"
"What—"
The one who grabbed Francis was the crazy orc. The pig orc held two humans at each waist and ran frantically. Soon the fireball touched the ground where Francis had been, causing a giant explosion.
[Explosion!!]
□□□□□□□!!
A giant pillar of fire shot high into the sky. Though far away, Gray couldn't come to his senses at the burning heat that transmitted. His attention was briefly captured by the explosion magic deployed by a 7-circle mage, and Gray hurriedly came to his senses and turned his gaze.
"Uhahaha! Finally caught you, you slippery little bastards!!"
The orc smiled broadly with his entire back scorched. He protected Francis from the aftermath of the explosion.
"Ah, aah, aaah..."
The female adventurer held in the opposite hand got the explosion dumped straight on her and rolled her eyes back. The orc threw the female adventurer cooked by the explosion to the ground, then grabbed the unconscious Francis and turned around.
"All forces, return to Ras Vegas!! Retreat!!"
The obese orc kidnapped Francis without any hesitation and ran into the city. Orcs and raven demons rushed en masse through the hole in the collapsed fence, and Harpy Angels grabbed some monsters and flew into the sky.
"What...?"
If they'd maintained the offensive just a bit longer, the subjugation force might have had to be prepared for annihilation. The mage's presence was that dangerous, and numerical superiority meant nothing. Nevertheless, the orc showed bizarre behavior where rather than giving an advance order, he just grabbed Francis and ran away.
Even the orc who'd violated prisoner women on the platform atop the fence abandoning the woman and only grabbing Francis was hard to readily understand.
"Why on earth?"
Gray blankly watched the backs of the fleeing Ras Legion and helplessly dropped his sword. The subjugation force achieved a victory that wasn't a victory, suffering over 300 casualties and having priest Francis kidnapped.
In comparison, the enemy was at most about 100 creatures no matter how much you counted. Gray clenched his fist.
Whoooosh—
An eerie river wind brushed Gray's spine. The orc archers on the watchtowers even lowered their bows as if mocking the confused human soldiers. Gray bit his lip in humiliation.
"...Temporarily return to main camp. All forces, return!!"
Gray had no choice but to retreat to main camp leading soldiers whose morale had hit rock bottom.
***
I filtered out the pretty female adventurer and grabbed priest Francis. I could learn the priest's name because an adventurer beside him kept shouting 'Sir Francis.' Francis seemed to have passed out from hyperventilation due to the aphrodisiac.
"Master, you haven't changed your sexual preferences, have you?"
"Is master into guys?"
Lune and Andras spouted strange words doubting my sexual identity. Though I loved Ras more than anyone, I strongly declined same-sex relations.
"I'm not into guys. However."
I declared to them with a serious face.
"I more than welcome barging into yuri 2P."
"That's a relief then. He looked like a woman, so I wondered."
Even Eila stepped forward doubting me. Eventually I had to explain why I chased Francis all the way to north of Ras Vegas.
"This guy knows Brug's whereabouts."
"Who's Brug?"
"Seems dumb but a good bastard. An orc way stronger than me. My life's benefactor. My soul partner. My only brother."
Somehow as it went on it became my wishes, making me awkwardly embarrassed. I hurriedly changed the subject and pointed at Francis bound with rope.
"So I need to make him confess information about such a friend of mine, any good methods?"
"...Dad, ahem. Legion Commander!"
Lancelot raised her hand with sparkling eyes.
"I have a good plan!"
"..."
That's the expression she had when I swindled Forneus. If she truly lived up to her genetics, I'd be leading Francis to get devoured by Lancelot.
I extracted information from Eila, but could Lancelot do well? Or was I just having excessive delusions? Couldn't I extract information using violence like beating?
"...Can't I do it?"
Lancelot fidgeted and twisted her body. My heart melted reflexively at the pretty daughter with only green skin acting cute. I patted Eila's back.
"Eila, you watch carefully from the side. Lancelot, you absolutely must not kill him. Got it?"
"Of course! Hehe."
Lancelot disappeared into a secluded alley holding Francis while drooling. Just looking at their faces, they were a perfect handsome man and beautiful woman.
"Hehehe, thanks for the meal~."
"..."
No way. It won't be... right?
