Hand of Oblivion!
Karl lifted his staff and aimed it toward the pile of bodies he had just created.
Nine monsters total: one boss and eight small ones, lay scattered across the grass, their corpses still steaming from the fight.
He didn't hesitate. He wanted to see what this new ability could really do.
The moment he activated it…
Fwish!
A purple hand burst out from the tip of his staff, making Karl suck in a breath.
Even after gaining this spell directly from a god, he hadn't expected it to manifest like this.
The hand floated forward, drifting slowly like it had all the time in the world.
Its entire surface was a shifting purple, but the texture didn't look like flesh or energy.
It looked like space, like the night sky twisted into a shape that didn't belong here.
It circled the boss and the monsters for several seconds, moving around their bodies in a wide orbit, scanning them or judging them or whatever this thing did.
Karl simply watched it, gripping his staff a little tighter without even realizing it.
Then the hand shot downward.
It dug straight into the corpses with no resistance at all, passing through bodies like they were water.
One after another, the bodies dissolved slightly wherever the hand touched them, tiny fragments of energy leaking out and swirling toward Karl.
And then—
Ding!
[You have gained 9 Evolution Points!]
[You have gained 105 Lives!]
Two panels appeared in front of him, floating calmly like what had just happened was completely normal.
Karl stared at them for a second, letting the information settle, and only then did he shift his gaze to the grass.
Because right there, lying among the original drops, was new loot.
'I get it.'
His eyes sharpened.
This skill was insane. Completely broken, honestly.
And it made sense, this was a skill gifted directly by a god.
Not just any god either, but the [God of Oblivion].
It would've been more surprising if it wasn't absurdly powerful.
Every time Karl killed a monster, he could unleash this ability and gain either extra EP and Lives, or extra loot.
It was basically free value.
The system probably gave a fifty-fifty chance between the two outcomes, but Karl wasn't fully sure yet.
Still, either reward was amazing. And it also meant something else.
His EP income was now massively boosted.
He'd be able to evolve far more frequently than before.
'I need more spells,' Karl thought, the idea settling into him, 'Better ones. But for now, I should keep moving.'
He crouched down and picked up the normal pile of loot from the boss and the small monsters.
All the items were labeled clearly: [Half-Moon Bat], [Half-Moon Armor], [Half-Moon Dagger]
Gear he could probably sell later.
But what caught his attention was the other item: the bonus drop given by [Hand of Oblivion].
It glowed slightly differently from the rest, almost like it wanted him to see it wasn't the same.
Karl didn't need anyone to tell him which item came from the skill. He could instinctively tell.
And when he reached down and picked it up, the panel appeared:
[Half-Moon Backpack (Elite): +30 Storage Slots. Requirement: Level 25]
"Damn."
Karl honestly hadn't expected something like this.
He'd been ready for an extra piece of gear or maybe some random weapon, but a backpack?
A rare one, too? That was huge.
Because if the skill could give this, then it could give pretty much anything.
This skill didn't just increase his chances of getting good loot. It doubled them.
'Amazing.'
And the best part? [Hand of Oblivion] could evolve.
It wasn't a fixed god ability, it was treated like one of his skills.
Meaning it could be made stronger.
Karl immediately equipped the backpack, expanding his inventory
His storage jumped to 50 slots after adding this new backpack to the two he already had equipped:
[3/3 backpacks equipped.].
He had the [Normal Backpack (10 slots)] and [Storage Backpack (10 slots) equiped before, with this new one, his backpack slots were full.
If he ever got a better one, he'd have to unequip one of the older backpacks to replace it.
But for now, this setup was perfect.
With everything stored away, he walked back toward Moonless.
The beast was resting comfortably on the ground near the corpses, her silver fur catching the sunlight.
She lifted her head the moment Karl approached, her four eyes fixed on him with an expression that could only be described as expectant.
'I guess all she wants is to fight,' Karl thought, watching her tail flick, 'Good.'
That was exactly the kind of mount he needed.
A companion who wouldn't hesitate.
And even if mounts in [Gods Ascension] couldn't die permanently, their death penalty was awful.
A cooldown that could last days or even a full month.
With a mount like [Moonless], there was no doubt her cooldown would be on the longer side.
Karl intended to make sure she never reached that point.
He climbed onto her back and patted her head. She rose to her full height in one smooth motion.
Ding!
[Moonless' Loyalty toward you has increased by 5%.]
"Damn."
Loyalty was everything for mounts.
Low loyalty meant they ignored orders, misunderstood commands, or outright refused to fight.
High loyalty unlocked new behaviors, new reactions, sometimes even new skills.
The fact that Moonless was already this responsive made her even more valuable.
She truly acknowledged him as her master after their fight in the [Moon Tower].
Fwish!
Moonless leaped forward with a burst of force, and then she was sprinting, her silver form cutting through the plains like a streak of light.
Karl leaned forward slightly, gripping her fur as the landscape blurred around them.
No more bosses appeared.
The plains stretched on and on, but Moonless devoured the distance effortlessly.
And then, after several minutes of riding, Karl finally saw it: [Floral City].
The next major city in [Gods Ascension].
And unlike [Moon City], which was small and quiet and always locked in eternal darkness, this one was huge.
Almost three times larger. Bright, colorful, and bustling with players and NPCs.
It made sense, players would stay here for a long time.
Going from level 25 to 50 wasn't quick. It took weeks, maybe months.
Karl's destination lay around the city. The region known as the [Blooming Lands].
And the core of that region, the zone every player hated or feared or both, was the [Flower Labyrinth], the [Major Zone] of this region.
Everything in this place followed the theme of flowers, vines and plants.
Karl lifted his gaze.
The sun shone brightly here, a sharp contrast to the moonlit glow of the [Moon Plains].
The sky was clear, but far in the distance, something massive pierced upward.
A vine. A gigantic one.
It rose from the center of the region, stretching all the way to the sky, and at its top bloomed a massive crimson flower.
The petals looked like they were made of blood and fire, and its presence alone radiated power.
Karl didn't care. But he couldn't deny the sight was impressive.
Some residents of [Floral City] worshiped it. They called it the "Death Flower."
Unlike the [Moon Sect], they weren't fanatics, so Karl didn't give them a second thought.
'I wonder,' Karl thought as he stared at the massive flower, 'Could it be related to the [Gods Continent] too?'
Nobody knew what the giant flower truly was.
NPCs only called it a "challenge," but nobody ever found the entrance.
Players gave up trying. Karl didn't have time to waste on it either.
"Time is not on my side," Karl muttered, eyes shifting back to the city ahead, "Let's go."
Fwish!
Moonless sprinted again, silent and focused.
And then—
Ding!

[You have entered the "Blooming Lands"]
[A dangerous land filled with flower/plant monsters, do not trust the "Death" flower above.]
[Lives loss rate: 100]
