SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows

Chapter 110: First Section

A Minotaur lunged at Aren, axe first in a full swing. He pulled back, evading it cleanly, while still keeping the same distance between them, so that when he leaned forward again, his attack reached.

His fist got covered in lightning.

He punched, slamming the Minotaur right in the chest.

BAM!

CRACK!

There was no holding back at all. His fist shattered bones inside the chest of the Minotaur, sending it skidding back and collapsing to the ground.

"Turn off notifications," Aren said immediately. He didn't want to get distracted. Whatever he got, he would check after.

There was something he wanted to try, and it had to do with his ability to use his summon's powers as well. That skill had leveled up multiple times now as he evolved, which meant the number of abilities he could use a day should have at least doubled.

Or so he hoped.

So, without even checking, he attempted something, and instantly, his second hand was coated in lava. It formed, boiling and hot.

He smiled, looking at the lava. "This is nice," he muttered and looked up at the next Minotaur that was rushing at him, and immediately unleashed a blast of lava.

Splash!

The Minotaur didn't expect such an attack. It lifted its sword to block, but the lava landed on its skin and face, the intense heat instantly burning right through the skin.

"Roaooooor!" Its roar thundered with pain.

Claw strike.

Aren attacked while it was mid-cry and cut off its head clean. His eyes were already moving to the next one, which was swinging a mace.

He dodged, stepping back, eyes forward.

There were more coming in fast. He didn't have the time to focus on one alone now.

"Wide area attack," he thought, and then swung his hand, unleashing the lava in a circular wave.

The glowing red liquid forced the Minotaurs back, some not lucky enough and got a bit splashed on them, burning them and causing immense pain.

He looked forward at the first one that attacked, still his target.

He lunged, covering the distance in an instant.

It swung again.

He parried with Wolf Guard, eyes locked on the Minotaur, lightning crackling around his arm.

Pivoting on one foot, he spun.

Left hand splashing lava first, close range, extremely lethal.

Splash.

The Minotaur jerked back, pain filling its entire body, its face getting burned right there.

Then the right hand came in, fist covered in lightning, right into the burning face, shattering the skull on impact and sending heavy volts that stopped the heart in an instant.

Another one dead, but the others were closing in fast, and armor erosion was becoming an issue.

An attack came from behind, sword thrust for his head, but he sensed that already, going low and dodging. He slid to the side while low and got away, getting on his feet to focus on the one that attacked, but they weren't letting that happen, as another rushed forward with a hammer.

It swung without hesitation, right for his head. He blocked the swing, tucking his head behind his arm, his wolf guard taking the full brunt.

He pushed the hammer back and kicked the Minotaur in the gut, hard enough to send it flying, before shooting a jet of lava at the first Minotaur. It dodged.

He dashed at it while it was dodging to the side, leaped into the air, and kicked down, his leg moving like a whip through the air. It slammed into its head, almost snapping it clean off.

He landed, and the Minotaur was staggering back, fighting for its life. He followed the attack with multiple shadow blades that ended the life of the Minotaur.

With four down and the rest closing in fast, he knew what he had to do.

"Say hello to my little friends," Aren said with a smile. Shadow tendrils rose and wrapped the Minotaurs he had killed, acting like points of contact, and then he used Consume.

They sank into the ground, and when they rose again, they were now shadow Minotaurs, along with shadow weapons, the ones they used before they died.

Instantly, they rushed into battle, attacking their own former race with immediate vigor.

The new threats immediately upset the battle around Aren and split all attention, ensuring that not a lot of focus was on him at a time, and he could focus on having one-on-ones with the Minotaurs as he pushed ahead.

"Roaooooor!"

One lunged forward at Aren with a sword, slashing down at full speed. Aren dodged clean out of the way, keeping his eyes on the target, and from the side, he stepped forward so fast it looked like a flash step.

Knee first.

BAM!

Right into the head of the Minotaur, knocking it backward and breaking a few facial bones.

He grabbed the horn and yanked the head forward, and then, using all his strength, threw it over his shoulder, suplexing it right into the hard ground.

BOOM!

He twisted the horn next, breaking it off its head.

"Roaooooorr!"

Its roar was guttural, filled with pain and agony.

Lunge.

Aren thrust the horn and stabbed it into the chest, killing it.

He yanked the horn out and started walking away, his Consume immediately taking that Minotaur as well.

He walked with the horn in his hands, calmly through the battlefield. The others were locked in battle, explosions ripping through the air and shaking the entire place, while Aren walked calm and easy.

Another Minotaur lunged at him, and the new shadow Minotaur he gained parried the attack. Aren thrust the horn right into its heart, then grabbed it by both horns and pulled it down hard.

Snap.

He snapped both off and slammed the head right into the ground hard.

He kept this motion, progressing, taking them down one after the other and building his Minotaur army as he walked.

But then he made it through the first section, and he could tell, because when he saw the statues that were here now, he could tell they were much stronger.

They started cracking, releasing the next section of Minotaurs to be fought.
