SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows

Chapter 117: Go back to your past

The lady looked at Aren's reaction to the name and let out a small giggle.

"Don't fret," she said, before taking another sip of her tea. "I know who you are," she stated.

Aren looked at her with fear and caution, but for some reason, his mind screamed at him to not even attempt to attack her or try anything risky here.

'Who is this lady, and how does she know my name from Earth? I've never once mentioned the name Nathan in this world,' he thought.

"Come and sit already. The questions filling your mind can be answered if we have a talk," she said.

Aren gritted his teeth and clenched his jaw. He took a step forward. He was already thinking about all the countermeasures that he could use here if things went south.

He arrived at the table, staring at the chair made available for him for a few seconds, and then finally sat down.

"Wow, that took you a long time. You aren't really trusting, are you?" she asked, but he didn't give a reply.

"You don't have to reply. I already know you are not, Nathan, not after how unfairly life treated you," she said, picking up the teapot as she poured him some tea. She pushed it in his direction.

Aren looked at her hands and the cup, then he looked up at her face, but the veil didn't let him see who she was.

"How do you know my name? Who are you?" he asked.

"One question at a time. Some of this will make sense in a bit. As for your friends back at the trials, you don't have to worry about them. You'll be back to them before they notice.

Time runs at my will, so it's faster than normal by a lot. You won't age though," she said. Then she leaned back into her chair, folding her arms and looking right at Aren.

"Nathan, Aren, having a second chance at life is a pretty rare thing. You are a rare phenomenon, Aren," she said.

"You haven't told me anything yet. Who are you?" Aren asked.

"Tch, fine. My name is Karmela," she said with a smile. "As for what I am, I can't tell you.

You, on the other hand, are Nathan, a broken soul that somehow found its way into another world and body.

Your soul, Nathan, was filled with a ton of regrets from Earth, pain and anger, everything that one soul could possibly have, and so it forced something."

When Aren heard what she said, his curiosity reached its peak. He looked at her, listening to every word.

"Your soul forced its own transmigration, something never seen before. I didn't even know such a thing was possible until I began looking into you and discovered what lay beneath," she stated, looking at him.

Despite her face being covered by a veil, a slight smile formed on her petite lips.

"What?" Aren asked. He couldn't help himself. "What do you mean my soul forced itself to transmigrate?"

"Certain chain reactions took place," she replied calmly. "Your soul ignited something forcefully, but that isn't something I can explain for now."

"What do you mean?" Aren pressed. "You already started, so how can you not explain it?"

"Sigh, your soul wants something, Aren, something that even you might not want, and for you to be able to start the journey of fully understanding what your soul wants, you have to face the past of Nathan," she said.

"Huh? I've already faced my past. The person I was is what has made me what I am now," he replied, confused by what she was saying.

"The human mind is powerful, Aren," she said, then picked up her cup. "It is capable of locking away the darkness in order to ensure that you have brighter memories and not fall into depression."

"Are you saying that happened to me? Haha, I already have a shitty past. There are no bright memories," Aren said.

"That dark past you recall is the bright memory used to cover the truth, Aren," she said. When those words left her mouth, Aren froze.

"What are you trying to say?" he asked.

"What is hidden behind it is your true memory, and the reason your soul forced itself to do what it did. Until you face those memories, you can never know the real desires of your soul.

You are an anomaly, Aren. Your presence here is wrong. You shouldn't be in this world, yet here you are. There is more to it, more than you can imagine, but your state as an anomaly has also made you crucial to this world," she said, her finger trailing around the rim of her cup.

"I'm sure you know you have become a target, right?" she asked.

He looked at her, but gave no answer.

"Those that are targeting you need you gone because you are destroying pre existing logic of the trial, and that makes you a threat.

And they will succeed along the way. Trust me, you are fighting an uphill battle and your chances are low. So I have an offer," she said. The air became heavy.

"I can help you, return you back to Earth, your real world, and this time give you a better life. Help you live happy, all that you could dream of in the past, without the worry of death looming over you.

You don't have to worry about the past that was buried in your mind anymore. The darkness will vanish, and so will the memory of this world. It will all completely vanish, and you'll be happy.

If you remain here, the threats you face will get greater, the attention you pull. Elton is only the start. She'll hunt you to no end, and when others join in, there is nothing you can do to escape it. This is not a battle against humans, but against the divine," she said. She interlocked her fingers and placed her hands on the table.

"So what do you say, Aren? Go back to being Nathan. Live happy. Live free. This is your opportunity to have a better life."
