SSS Ranked Shadow Monarch: Summoning Infinite Shadows

Chapter 131: Bye for now Aren

Travelling through the maze felt entirely more easy for the group. No monsters they faced could really prove to be an issue, and so days went by without problem. They had so much peace that they even had time to sleep at some point.

But Aren didn't sleep after trying it twice, and then he had two nightmares. Ever since the trials started, his nightmares had stopped entirely, so them coming back at this point made him worry.

The issue with the nightmares now is they didn't make a lot of sense and were simply just views of pure chaos and destruction happening around him. It was like some sort of apocalypse that he couldn't wrap his head around.

It disturbed him so much that after the second time sleeping, he decided that he wouldn't sleep again and just keep watch for the others. After all, he could handle much more than that at this point.

Soon enough, they crossed the midway point of the maze, which triggered the endgame. The final phase of the maze was probably the end of the trial if they got through it.

Normally, the end phase would have been an issue for them, but now, it's nothing more than a chore for the group.

While they walked, Aren noticed on the map that it was a completely dead end, with no route out.

"There's no way out," he stated.

"Huh? How come?" Aiden asked.

"I'm not sure, but I'm certain that the right path to follow was here," he said, and then looked up at the wall in the dark distance blocking them.

"There has to be something here," he stated and walked ahead, and just as he presumed, when he had taken only a few steps in, something triggered, and instantly, the entire maze began terraforming.

Creating unique platforms like some sort of obstacle game, but far more intense, with lava pools to fall into, raging pits of flames, or freezing cold waters with certain swimming monsters inside it, lightning fields, some platforms with Minotaurs and more.

And at the very end, the wall that had been a dead end seemed to have a path that they could follow now.

"You have to be joking, an obstacle course?" Aiden asked in shock.

"Yeah, I didn't expect this in the slightest," Aren stated, but while they were mid talk, Elton appeared, her presence immediately pulling their attention. They all looked at her.

She stared at the group for a few seconds, her eyes lingering on Aren. A certain hatred boiled within her eyes as she looked at him, but she didn't allow her gaze to linger. She had work to do for now.

"You three will embark on the final phase of the trials, which encompass a massive array of obstacles, containing different monsters and different rules. You'll have to find out the rules by yourself or die trying.

Some may contain rules as simple as don't fly, or don't kill even a single monster. These rules are hidden somewhere at the start of every course. They could be one or many, so keep your eyes out," she explained.

She was still about to talk some more, but Zero interrupted her.

"You said you three, there are four of us," she stated.

Elton let out a smile, and then looked at Aren. "Shadow is now above the required level allowed for the second trial. His participation in it is completely unfair and pointless. Nothing within the trial's final phase can kill him," she said.

"Wait, so how does he get to the end then?" Aiden asked.

"Sadly, this is where his second trial comes to an end. He'll have to wait for you at the other side if you complete the courses and make it out," she said.

"What? You expect me to just leave them?" Aren asked.

"Indeed, and it's not a request. You'll be removed as I am leaving, and they will face their own courses and end their own trial," she spoke in a tone that made it clear she wasn't here for jokes.

Aren clenched his fist. He knew he might be much stronger now, but he was nowhere near the level of attack an angel-level strength had.

"Don't worry bro, we'll make it out. We are far stronger and better than when we stepped into the trials," Aiden said with an assuring smile.

"You've carried us to the final phase already. At the very least, let's take ourselves to the end," Kira stepped in and said as well.

Aren looked at them. He took a deep breath and relaxed his fist. "Fine," he said.

He walked to Aiden. They dabbed up. "Don't let anyone die," he said to Aiden. Aiden nodded.

He looked at Zero. "I don't have anything to tell you, just be the Zero you are," he said.

She smiled and nodded as well. Finally, he walked to Kira. "Be fast, we still have the date we were meant to go to together," he said.

"We'll be there sooner than you expect," she said, and then leaned in for a kiss, and this time he closed his eyes as well and held her by the waist.

After they let go, he took out the map and tossed it to Aiden before walking to Elton. "So where are we going?"

She gave him a cold look and then placed her hands on his shoulders. They both vanished into light.

When the light faded, Aren found himself behind Elton on what seemed like a stream of light, travelling through the void at crazy speed.

He was standing behind the person that wanted him dead, and she didn't even know that he knew. She had no idea that not only the butler, but Karmela and the memories that he ate had already told him all he needed to know.

"They don't know I'm consuming their secrets, and that's good. I'll keep consuming more and more until I know everything that is to be known, and have enough resources to take all of you down once and for all."
