The War God Mega City was a large place, so large that it could be spotted hundreds and hundreds of kilometres away, a towering place filled with the best of humanity's magical technology and everything that the domain had to offer.
It stood behind grand walls that stretched as far as the eyes could see, a black wall with magical runes inscribed into it. The wall was large enough for multiple people to walk upon. Guards in full black and red armor walked there, spears and swords in their hands as they watched over the grand city.
The city walls had four gates to every cardinal point, north, south, east, and west. Each gate had a specific use, and only two allowed for incoming people and people leaving, the East and West gates.
The group was coming in from the East gate, and the road there was filled with hundreds of people entering and leaving the city as well. Ranging from the poor and on foot, all the way to the rich and riding marvelous mounts.
The entrance to the city was extremely protected, everyone that rode on the cobblestone roads to the gates was forced to pass through several levels of checks, with guards checking everything, along with a few mage awakened using some sort of spell to check the interior of things and ensure there was nothing illegal.
"Normally things are not this high tension here, but with the greatest tournament of the city coming, security is tight," Aoi stated as their group merged into the road.
"That makes sense, having this level of security all time round would be very expensive, I can guess," Aren stated.
"Indeed, each guard is an elite awakened or true-born trained by the best, their worth is very high," she explained.
"They allow true-borns?" Aren asked.
"Yes we do, resources can't be discriminated against. The true-borns are humans like us and have great strength, working with them is the best way to go.
There are also some intelligent races other than the true-borns, some that were in the past considered monsters. Though of lesser population and under constant watch, they still help the city progress."
The line moved slowly, and after a while, they finally arrived at the first check. When the guard saw the armor and the tigers, he immediately knew who they were, so he threw out a salute, fist to his chest.
"Welcome back," he said and stepped out of the way for them. Aoi gave him a nod and then rode ahead. They passed all the checks the same way, no hassle due to their reputation.
They made it through the gates and into the city. Behind the wall was more security, watching, observing everyone that walked into the city.
The city was magnificent, it consisted of two parts, the outer city and the inner city, which was separated by a massive river and connected by a very well-built metal drawbridge.
"This is the outer section of the War God City, known as the Bronze Section. It's mostly the lower middle class to lower class people that stay here and carry out their businesses, also where a lot of issues come from.
But don't be deceived, the cost of living in the Bronze Section is astronomical when compared to most cities, because it is the hot spot for opportunities to rise," Aoi said.
"After the trial comes to an end, you come to realize that you still have a life to live, and you have to survive and keep trying.
Many people believe that those who reach the end of the trials are strong and powerful, but that's very far from the truth. Ninety percent that survived, survived on luck and opportunity.
Only the ten percent were the ones that truly brought the win for humanity, and they are the ones that gain the rewards and everything," she explained.
"Hmmm, that makes sense," he muttered.
As they rode, people cleared the way for them. Getting in front of the silver tigers could land you in prison. They were not from the Bronze Section, neither were they from the Silver Section which was across the bridge. They were from the Gold Section at the center of the War God City.
Their importance was greater than the entire Bronze Section of the city.
"Are we allowed to come to the Bronze Section later? The place looks like it will be pretty nice to explore," Aren asked.
"That, I'm not sure of. You'll not be free for a while, having a lot to do and get through, and for your safety, the Silver and Gold Sections should be where you stay.
When the time comes for the competition, the Black Castle will be open, which is the core of the War God City, surrounded by the Gold Section. When it does, everyone will be allowed there for the tournament. That's the only time that all sections mix like crazy.
Back to what I was saying, don't go to the Bronze. If someone is targeting you, the Bronze is the best way to help them get you," Sue explained.
"I see."
'Tch, I'll probably check it out later. For now, let's just play to their pace,' Aren thought.
Finally, they arrived at the bridge, and the people crossing the bridge were much fewer when compared to those that were entering the city.
There were no guards here, which Aren found weird. What if someone tried to cross? But as they got across, he finally understood the reason. Standing there were several high-powered soul energy cannons, pointed right at the bridge and the river. This was the first time he was seeing something like this, he didn't even know the domains used weapons like this.
The Silver Section was far better than the Bronze, cleaner, the air felt lighter, and the houses were a bit more refined. The people here didn't walk around carelessly, and there were fewer guards. The guards here had on silver and red armor, a distinct difference from the ones at Bronze.
