The two made it back to the group.
"Hey Kira, we talked, and we are all sorry for not taking into consideration your feelings before trying to leave the silver section," Aiden said the moment they returned.
"I didn't agree," Zero said and folded her arms. She looked Kira right in the eyes. "If you are so scared of all of us getting harmed, then come along, get stronger, and fight the issues that come.
Crying about it or yelling isn't going to make us stop striving for strength, and I wish you do come along because I actually really like you," Zero said.
"Zero, stop that," Aiden said.
"No, Zero is right. I let my emotions get the better of me. I forgot what type of group I was in, and I'm very happy to be here. I wouldn't trade that for anything at all," she said with a smile. "But there is one thing going forward. If you are going to do any silly risk, then make sure that you take someone from the group along.
That's my stance in this. I'll not take no concerning this," she said adamantly.
"That's fair," Aiden said. "I think Raze and I will get along a lot. His sword game is top notch, and there is much I want to learn," Aiden said eagerly.
"Same could be said about you, Aiden. Your style is definitely unique. It's given me a lot of insights," Raze replied. They both nodded at each other.
"I'll take Athena," Zero stated, no explanation. Then she looked up. "Would have taken Aren too, but Kira probably wants him," she added.
"It's not some sort of selection. You can be with anyone, but what Kira is saying is when taking on a risk, don't be alone," Aren explained.
"Yeah yeah, now food," Zero said and started walking.
After a while, the group made it out of the silver section and went right into the bronze to find a restaurant where they would get some food to eat.
[.....]
Inside the same lounge that they had been before, Roger sat there, legs crossed and propped onto the table. Sitting opposite him was Aoi, who had a sword in her hands, and she was cleaning it with a rag.
"It took longer than we expected for them to leave the silver section," he said calmly.
"You expected. I couldn't care less about what you all are doing and your crazy plans or whatever," she stated calmly.
"Tch, you are no fun, Aoi," Roger said.
"And you are too much fun, brother," she said.
He smiled immediately. His hair color changed to match her, and so did his eyes. His looks changed as well.
He dropped his leg from the table and looked at her. "Come on, sis, don't you see how this is fun?" he asked.
"Nothing that has our family name is fun. Our family is never going to be fun, not in a million years. I fail to see what excitement you get from it after what we have been through.
The war God tournament is all a ploy from the sacred palace, the Blade family, and the other top organizations, and the effect on the lives of the awakened in the long run is never good," she said, anger seeping out.
"Tch, you also participated the last time, and you were amongst the winners," he said.
"And so did you, but we weren't affected by it because our lives were already fucked by being a member of our family.
Our family is not a family, it's a machine, one that grandfather runs extremely hard and efficiently, but not good.
His whole thing is the production of the best awakened, the best trueborns. Everyone is forced to fit into a box, and box ghosts he created and has forced us to live in.
The singing tigers was my way out of all of that madness. You all can keep the madness to yourself," she said before focusing on her sword.
"Well, things might start kicking off, and you'll be involved," he said.
"Crimson, keep me away from whatever it is. I'm not interested," she said.
"Well, this is very important to grandfather. He even had dad start working on it, as well as our uncles and aunts," he said.
When she heard that, she looked at him. "What's that important that he is calling the whole family to help?" she asked.
"Do you recall one of our aunties that ran away? The one who was destined to birth the chosen of the Blade family."
"Yes, she didn't want her child to ever be part of such a family or come from the family blood. She ran off with a normal awakened and has not been seen since then," she said.
"Well yeah, now she believed that marrying someone normal would ensure she does not birth that prophecy child.
Well, it seems she has indeed had a child, and none of us knew, well not until the power of the child exploded out during one of the trials, and now father knows that the next chosen of the Blade family is alive.
He wants the child found and brought back to the family as soon as possible. And he also believes that this child will be in this city during the tournament.
He wants all of us to search for her," Crimson said and then got up.
"There will be a meeting in the house in two days. Show up, and he'll brief us all. He is still mad you missed the last meeting. Don't make it worse, so show up."
He turned back into Roger and walked out of the lounge.
Aoi stared at the door after he had left in anger. She squeezed the blade of the sword so hard that it cracked.
She looked at it, clicked her tongue, and tossed it to the ground before getting up.
"Grandfather, what will you do now? Can't you just let all this go?" she muttered under her breath.
