Aren stood as his system screen suddenly lit up with a notification.
[Level Up +4 Stat Points]
[Level Up +4 Stat Points]
[Level Up +4 Stat Points]
He had leveled up 3 times in one moment. That was beyond crazy; it was simply absurd.
Another notification followed.
[You have gained a new skill: Shadow Sense]
[Shadow Sense: Sense any being that has a shadow within a 100m radius of you, Active skill, takes one Shadow Energy per minute]
Aren read through the skill as well. It might seem like nothing; a simple 100m radius seemed like nothing. But if he could sense where his enemies were 100m away, he would have the greatest advantage in any fight.
His lips curled up as he looked at it.
Not only had he gotten several levels, which meant he was currently the highest in soul energy and soul fragments, he also had a new skill that had unlocked.
The second stage of the trial had finally come to an end. The awakened had suffered a loss in hundreds. There were only two hundred and something left, but nearly everyone here now was getting numb to it.
Leon looked over to Aren. He was not the only one looking at Aren in this moment. Everyone that had pushed towards the boss wolf also looked at him. The wolf had been their opportunity, their chance to gather even more soul fragments and energy, and Aren just ended up getting it, also taking Leon's final blow to do it.
They had begun to recognize who and who was the major threat and power here. They all knew who Aren was, the very person that had come out with the classless awakening which looked like he didn't have any good power. That was the same person they were looking at now, and he was standing on top after killing the boss monsters.
This fact pained them down to their bones as they stared at him.
Leon walked over, leaping from black square to black square, then he stood at the black square closest to Aren. Everyone watched, wondering what was about to happen. Would Leon try to exact revenge or get angry? Even Aren himself looked at Leon, expecting him to snap or say something.
But then Leon let out a soft smile.
"I really thought I had the kill," he said.
Aren looked at him with a weird and confused expression. His eyes scrutinized Leon from head to toe, and then he finally spoke, "I just took away your kill, and you are happy with that?"
Leon shook his head. "Happy? Not at all. I wished I got the kill to be honest and gathered those lots of soul fragments, but you already got it, so what's done is done," Leon said. His words came out calm and collected, yet they managed to raise alarms inside Aren's mind.
But Aren didn't want to get into a back and forth here, so he accepted whatever this was.
'This dude is weird, way too weird for my liking, tsk. Still, he is pretty strong, and if he has my back, it would be pretty good, but then again, working with people would be a lot of issues, and his type of person would be a whole lot worse. I wouldn't be able to drop my guard,' Aren thought.
He could still feel the eyes on him after the monster died, each eye carrying a different emotion to convey. He looked around and saw them looking at him. It mostly consisted of B tiers. They were the ones most eager to gather the most points. Those in C didn't really make any heavy push and that was because they knew their strength.
But the B tier awakened had the belief that they were pretty close, if not the same, with the A tiers, and all of them wanted to prove that.
Aren didn't bother with them though. He turned his gaze away from Leon and then stretched his hands. He didn't care that they could all see him; none of that was his business right now. The boss wolf's body was the important thing, and he wouldn't leave it here before it vanished.
A shadow spread under the wolf until it was completely under, and then the wolf's body sank in. Everyone watched in shock and confusion. Aren acted as though he hadn't done anything, but this was the last straw for someone like Elena. She made her way over to Raze, standing on a black square a small distance away like Leon. She looked Aren right in the eye.
"Who are you?" she asked bluntly. Aren was confused by the question. He raised his brow, looking at her perplexed.
"Uhm, I don't understand," he replied calmly. She frowned slightly. "It doesn't make any sense. You are a classless awakened, meaning that you should be weaker than normal. How are you capable of everything that you have been doing?" she asked. Her sharp eyes showed that she wasn't joking. She didn't even bother blinking as she looked at Aren as if trying to pierce his soul.
Aren smirked. "I'm sorry, but there's nothing I can tell you. I'm simply like everyone else, trying to survive. That's why I'm fighting so hard," he said.
Her expression twisted even more. She could tell he was joking with her, and that infuriated her, but she understood the trial and the need to form alliances with strong people. She might not understand what exactly Aren was, but she could at least say one thing: he would be very useful when the time came.
'If I play my cards right, the S tier, A tier, and this classless dude will be under me. With the three of them evidently being the strongest here, I would have made the strongest alliance here, solidifying my spot at the top and ensuring I can breeze through everything.
The others are cannon fodder. Their lives are meaningless for earth. If they survive, I can use them again later to ensure my survival. After all, I am an S tier control type and the daughter of one of the greatest awakened. It's my destiny to save humanity in this trial,' she spoke to herself in her mind while looking at Aren.
"Let's put aside our differences and see how we will finish the trial then. I might not understand you or how you are that strong, but I respect strength," she said, speaking like it was a genuine offer.
But Aren slowly smiled a sinister smile while looking at her. "I know your type," he said, his eyes gleaming.
