When Gordon saw Louis, his frown deepened, because he knew that nothing good could come from this fellow being here. Louis looked at Gordon and smiled, he could tell that Gordon didn't want him here, but he couldn't do anything about it.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Legion asked, looking at Louis with a pissed expression.
"Shouldn't you be off chasing domain monsters somewhere?" Louis asked Legion.
"Tsk," Legion clicked his tongue. He picked up a fry and tossed it into his mouth, then looked back at Louis. "At least I go out to do something, no one even knows what the Floating Palace does."
"The Floating Palace?" Sofia said in shock, looking at Legion with wide eyes after he said that. She turned to look at Louis.
"Ohh? Seems you have heard of us," Louis said calmly.
"Heard of you? There is no young awakened that hasn't heard of you or wants to join," she said in full eagerness.
"I haven't heard of them," Aren, who was still stuffing his face full with fries and chicken, said, his voice muffled by the food as he chewed.
Everyone looked at him in confusion when he said he hadn't heard of them. Louis looked at him with pure disgust, his first impression of this brat wasn't good at all.
'He is in the face of someone from the Floating Palace, and all he wants to do is eat food. How can he even say he hasn't heard of us, is he trying to piss me off?' Louis thought while clenching his fist.
"You can't be serious, right?" Kira asked, looking at Aren with shock. "Even I, who didn't pay attention to things like that, still managed to hear of it to a certain extent," she spoke.
"Meh," Aren replied, picking a fry and tossing it into his mouth. He leaned back into the couch and looked at Louis, his eyes carrying no interest whatsoever. "Are you guys really good or something?" he asked, his tone totally nonchalant while still chewing his food.
Louis looked at him, and smoke came out of his head. He clenched his fist hard and did everything in his power to not lash out at this kid right here.
"Bwahahahahahahaha," Legion suddenly burst into a thundering laughter, grabbing his stomach as he laughed. He looked Louis right in the eyes as he laughed. "Your face is priceless, for the first time the name of the Floating Palace didn't bring everyone to your feet, and you can't handle that."
"You are genuinely a big baby, hahahaha." Legion laughed even harder. He finally stopped, took a deep breath, and looked at Louis, whose face showed that he was evidently doing his best to not show rage.
As a member of the prideful Floating Palace, he couldn't let it be seen that he was enraged by a child.
"Hey kid, I like you a lot, haha, I've not had a good laugh like that in a bit," Legion said with a gleeful smile. "If you want, you can join the Adventurer's Guild, and I'll make sure to give you all the best treatment," he offered.
Before Aren could even respond, Louis spoke. "Hmph, that's the only organization that would take someone like him in the first place. He is a cultureless swine, stuffing his mouth in the presence of elders rather than showing respect."
He placed his hands behind his back to look more respectable. "No one would want to carry such an individual. I'm sure that he was carried along by others to the end," he spoke.
As those words left his lips, Aiden, Kira, Sofia, and even Elaine were stunned a bit. They knew the truth. Aren's back would be hurting from carrying nearly all of them through the trial at this point, but before they could say anything, Louis continued.
"The four of you, come to the Floating Palace. It's the best place for talent like yours. We will train you to become the pinnacle of awakened," he said, making his offer, one that no one could resist.
The eyes of Sofia and Elaine lit up in excitement when they heard that, but Aiden and Kira had grim expressions.
"You can't be serious, Louis. You want to take all four?" Gordon asked in shock.
"Of course, the Floating Palace is in need of some good new talents," Louis said. He turned his gaze back to the kids. "So, what do you say about that offer?" he spoke calmly.
'Let's see what you do now that the others will take my offer and leave you behind,' he thought while looking at Aren, who was still biting into a fried piece of chicken. This enraged him even more.
"Yes, definitely, it would be an honor," Sofia spoke first enthusiastically.
"I believe my father would be happy if I joined the Floating Palace as well," Elaine spoke second. She was far calmer than Sofia.
Louis was getting happy, seeing them accept. Next was Aiden, and he went straight to the point. "No, I'll not be joining. There are other organizations that would take me, but not the Floating Palace." He then looked at Louis. "You disrespected my friend, joining you would be me betraying him," Aiden finished saying.
His words shocked everyone, but before they could finish processing that shock, another came.
"I'll also pass on joining the Floating Palace. I don't think I'm talented enough for it, and also," she looked at Louis, "you disrespected Aren." Her tone was cold and sharp, like she was speaking to someone who had done something unforgivable.
Louis heard both of them speak, and instantly his anger reached a height it had never reached before. He clenched his fist so hard his knuckles turned white, a vein popping on his neck.
"Bwahahahahahahahaha," Legion burst into another crazed laugh, this time tears dripping down his eyes. He clutched his stomach with both hands. He looked at Louis while laughing, making the anger inside Louis spike even more.
"Hahah, you tried to get back at the kid and still fucked that up, hahaha," Legion managed to say mid-laugh.
