"Hiss..."
Fenrir stood still, her posture relaxed yet poised, as if ready to respond to any threat at a moment's notice.
She was clad in a patient's gown that barely covered her, but the thick, beastly aura surrounding her clung to her skin like armor, keeping her body protected and concealed.
The armor shimmered in a blood-red hue, shifting like smooth silk in a gentle breeze.
This transformation was something Axel had never witnessed before.
Though he wasn't sure why she appeared this way, he recognized that Fenrir, in this moment, was not the familiar figure he knew. Yet, the fact that she was protecting him remained unchanged.
As the giant golem began to push itself off the ground, struggling to balance with one hand, Fenrir sprang into action.
No...
She vanished.
Only the strong gust of wind she left in her wake remained.
In the next instant, she was at the golem's head, her fist pulled back and radiating a powerful aura. She shot forward, delivering a straight punch right to the center of the enemy's face.
"Ugh...!"
The earth trembled as the air exploded, and the giant's head cracked like a wall struck by a wrecking ball. Axel, still on the ground, had no choice but to roll away from the shockwaves!
"This strength... this speed..." he gasped, astonished. "This isn't the level she usually displays!"
Fenrir was strong; however, she could only access 10% of her power due to Gleipnir's seal. But now, the strength she exhibited was clearly beyond that—at least double!
"RAAAAGH!"
Fenrir didn't relent.
She kicked off the air as if it were solid ground and launched another punch. Another explosive shockwave erupted, pushing Axel even further away—then another, and another. Dozens of punches were unleashed in an instant!
The golem's head was reduced to rubble, leaving nothing above its neck.
But as expected of an inorganic foe, even after losing its head, it continued to attack Fenrir.
Its remaining arm moved, attempting to catch the pesky intruder who had obliterated its head. A massive hand loomed, resembling a net that sought to ensnare her.
Seeing this, Fenrir...
"GRAAAAAH!"
Let out a wild growl and met the palm.
Like a bullet, she struck its center just before the giant closed its fist, intent on crushing her inside.
However, the golem had overlooked one crucial factor...
Fenrir shifted, gathered her strength, and spread her limbs wide. In the next moment, an explosion of energy caused the fist to disintegrate, crumbling into dust.
"Fen... rir..."
Axel, witnessing this scene, struggled to believe his eyes.
Fenrir fought like a wild beast, recklessly. Worse still, she was disregarding her own safety. After her last attack, she was now bleeding from her forehead. The golem had successfully injured her in exchange for a hand!
It was a minor wound, but a troubling omen nonetheless.
'If the fight continues like this, Fenrir is...!'
Fearing the worst, Axel couldn't help but cheer, "Fenrir... Kill it, now!"
His voice was weak, barely audible, but the chain in his hands glowed, as if communicating his thoughts directly to her.
Fenrir's ears perked up, and her posture shifted. No longer listless and seemingly out of energy, she now appeared dignified and full of energetic flair, almost as if showing off for him.
In the next instant, she kicked off the air, launching herself forward. Just when Axel expected her to crash into the giant's body, she made a sharp turn.
This wasn't a one-time maneuver; she moved around the golem at blinding speeds, seemingly trying to confuse it.
But that wasn't all.
Each kick she executed in the air caused the atmosphere to vibrate and tremble powerfully. The waves radiated outward, traveling through the atmosphere and reaching the giant's body.
And then...
"OOOOOH!"
The giant let out a cry.
Its body began to crack uncontrollably!
Axel struggled to comprehend what was happening until he noticed the minute vibrations on the giant's body. "This is... a Resonant Frequency reaction!" he gasped.
The air vibrations struck the golem at a rate that matched the resonant frequency of its body parts. While these small vibrations shouldn't have been enough to damage it, that's where the compound waves came into play.
With the resonant frequency causing the object to vibrate and the compound waves amplifying the energy within, the rocks and marble that made up its body crumbled to dust.
One leg fell, bringing the giant down to its knees. Its knees buckled next, leading to the giant's collapse. Then the other leg, the other thigh, its waist, and so on—all of its body crumbled into dust, leaving behind a mountain of sand-like material.
In mere moments, all that remained of the giant golem was the glowing red core.
Fenrir stood right before it, staring.
Then, without hesitation, she lifted the ten-meter-diameter sphere from the golem's chest.
Like a dog retrieving a toy, she ran to Axel and dropped the core beside him. Her eyes were dull, devoid of light, but her tail and ears wagged as if eagerly awaiting his praise.
"..."
Axel, immobilized by his injuries, could only stare.
Seeing Fenrir's battered form and the cuts across her body filled him with guilt.
"I'm... weak," he whispered.
He had believed he was strong after witnessing his status rise.
But this time, he was proven wrong.
Despite his high stats, he couldn't wield them effectively. Meanwhile, Fenrir, essentially a beast—a shadow of her conscious self—managed to use only 10% of her strength to perform at double the effectiveness.
He closed his eyes, bitter feelings rising in his throat.
However, only one phrase escaped his lips.
"Thank you..."
At his words, Fenrir's stoic expression, as if under a spell, finally softened into a thin smile.
And then... she collapsed, crashing into the dirt.
Fenrir, once again, fell into her comatose state.
Axel was filled with worry. He feared he had pushed the great wolf beyond her limits. Although he wanted to treat her with a potion, he could barely lift his arm.
"Ah..."
Not long after, his vision faded to black.
"Sir Axel...!"
The faint sound of someone calling his name echoed in the back of his mind.
