"Wasn't Sir Axel... already a mage?"
Eve asked, interrupting Axel and Mimir's conversation.
"I mean, you bring things in and out of your subspace, so... you must be a space-time mage, right?"
The little princess's question piqued everyone's interest.
At first, it was true that everyone assumed he was a mage. After all, he typically avoided frontline combat—just like a typical mage. However, when he did engage in battle, he usually wielded a sword, which did confuse them.
Nobody took the time to clarify what Axel actually was!
Hearing the unexpected question, Axel turned away from Mimir and replied flatly, "That's not accurate. Rather than magic, what I use is more akin to an ability or a skill."
Before he elaborated, Axel took a moment to survey those present.
Eve, Beatrix, Arianne, Maria, and Cherry from the former Klint Kingdom group; Teruria and Ethernina from the Witcheria side; and finally, Fenrir.
Those were the only members attending that night's dinner.
With that in mind, Axel nodded and decided to explain further. "It's something I acquired from my System."
"System...?"
"What's that...?"
Of course, aside from Fenrir, Teruria, and Nina, everyone else appeared puzzled.
Axel smiled wryly, anticipating their confusion, and began to explain various concepts: the System itself, his own background, and the System Spirits.
He also mentioned how Ria could utilize the System by Proxy due to the Witch's Kiss they shared, as well as how Nina had stumbled upon this information.
And finally...
"Mimir, introduce yourself to them," Axel instructed.
The little cat looked annoyed as she replied, "Tsk. It can't be helped..."
Mimir was similar to Navi, a System Spirit, but she possessed some unique traits. Unlike Navi, Mimir could materialize herself, allowing others to see her form and hear her voice.
This ability stemmed from her higher-level system and was retained after her successful transfer.
Gradually, her appearance shifted from a translucent image that only Axel could perceive to a tangible being existing in the physical realm.
"I'm Mimir. I have no intention of socializing with you mortals, so you can forget about me—"
But just as she was speaking, a figure leaped up and scooped the startled cat into her arms.
"Waaah! What is this creature? So beautiful, so cute~!"
It was Arianne.
Axel was taken aback by the sudden, uninvited action but soon realized she wasn't alone.
"Such slender limbs, and a fine coat of black and white... Is this a cat?!"
"Wow! A cat! A real cat! Arianne, let me hug her next~!"
"I thought cats were wild... this one's cultured and can even speak!"
In no time, a swarm of enthusiastic girls surrounded the poor Mimir. Even if she wished to escape, she couldn't. After all, the girls' strength was boosted by potions.
To make matters worse, switching from her spirit form to physical form and vice versa came with a five-minute cooldown. In short, she would be trapped with the girls for a full five minutes!
"..."
Axel observed this scene from the corner of his eye and chose not to intervene.
Instead, he redirected his attention to something else for the moment: his auctioned items.
He had successfully auctioned off various upgraded accessories, weapons, and armor several times and now had a general idea of their pricing.
Take the accessories, for instance.
Previously, they offered only one or two simple stat boosts through flat additions or subtractions. Now, however, they featured at least four attributes each, incorporating both flat and percentage modifiers.
Naturally, since the results were still random, some accessories ended up reducing stats significantly, rendering them practically useless. But the ones Axel selected for auction were exclusively those with all positive values.
These accessories fetched a staggering price of 50 billion Colts!
Notably, this was the lowest price among all the items he had auctioned.
The upgraded low-quality sword, labeled the Medium Quality Sword, sold for an impressive 248 billion! Meanwhile, the pièce de résistance, the Holy Light Armor, commanded a jaw-dropping 561 billion Colts!
These figures represented averages from multiple auctions, and the maximum and minimum prices varied widely. Unlike before, Axel opted to set the item's price tag at the third quartile of the price range to prevent resellers and correct his usual mistake of underpricing.
Reflecting on the manufacturing costs and selling prices, the disparity was like comparing heaven and earth! To add, his shop's chat—still malfunctioning—was overflowing with requests for bulk orders of these items!
'I wonder when the chat function will be fixed...'
Just as he pondered this,
"BAH!"
Mimir finally escaped from the clutches of the girls. Her body turned semi-transparent again as she returned to spirit mode. Although her fur was ruffled and her tail stood straight and bristling, she hissed at the girls, who were disappointed by her sudden disappearance.
"What's with those women?! They're insane!" Mimir complained as she rejoined Axel. "I'll never shift to my physical form again with them around!"
"Yeah..."
Axel gently stroked her fur, brushing it with his fingers. Even in her spirit form, she was still physically interactable; Axel's touch reached Mimir without any issues, straightening her fur out.
[Ahem...!]
"What…?"
Only when a certain envious penguin coughed deliberately did Axel notice the brush he was holding.
"Ah... Sorry." Axel realized his intentions and apologized lightly, then proceeded to ruffle Mimir's fur himself. "There, back to how it was before."
"Et tu, brute?!"
Of course, having her fur ruffled by Axel left Mimir utterly shocked.
Frustrated, the cat vanished, hiding away. Navi turned to Axel, gave a short salute with the brush, and disappeared right after. He could only imagine how the little penguin planned to score some points there.
Knowing he couldn't do anything, Axel decided to leave everything to Navi to sort out.
"Anyway," he coughed, redirecting the conversation.
"If anyone else wants to learn magic from Mimir, just let me know. Teaching everyone at once is more efficient than conducting individual lessons."
After all, the girls now had more than enough mana to cast spells. With at least 200 points in Mana, they possessed the mana equivalent of twenty court mages combined. In short, it would be a waste not to learn how to use it!
"Me, me, me!"
"I'll join you, Sir Axel."
"I'm interested in magic too... I'll join~!"
To his surprise, everyone raised their hands to participate. Even Ria and Nina joined in! Although Axel had initiated the offer, he wondered if Mimir would be okay with it.
"Well, I guess we'll find out tomorrow." He shrugged off the main concern.
If there's any problem, the "him" of tomorrow would handle it, for sure.
