Becoming the Wasteland Overlord With My Harem System!

Chapter 68: You Call This Dismantling?!

Axel frowned, staring at the nine bottles of Greater Recovery Potion before him.

Not being able to sell these items hurt. After all, although minor, he did spend big bucks on tons of raw materials already. Not to mention, if he couldn't sell the concoctions he made, then that meant he wouldn't be able to recover the investment for the building itself!

"What to do..."

Just as he was worrying, Navi's exasperated voice rained on him.

[What do you mean by "what"? Just dismantle the greater potion and sell the resulting item. That's the only logical and best choice!]

"Huh?"

Axel felt flabbergasted hearing such a suggestion.

"No, no, no. Isn't dismantling used to derive objects from other objects? Like deriving sticks from a log or something?" He knew that well enough because he was using it constantly with his automated crafting.

However, Navi suddenly revealed that he was misunderstanding the function at a fundamental level.

[No? Dismantling an item simply creates a similar-value item based on the system's strict regulations... Wait, why am I even bothering to explain all this? Just try to dismantle the potion and see for yourself.]

"..."

With Navi cutting corners all of a sudden, Axel had no choice but to gamble.

Although he wasn't sure if this would "break" the item, he still had nine identical bottles, so it wouldn't be much of a loss, technically.

Carefully, Axel moved to the Dismantling Panel on the Crafting Panel. There, aside from the slots that were used constantly by the auto-crafting, the big slot used for manual dismantling was still available.

Albeit nervous about losing an item worth a hundred billion, he still placed the potion in the slot. Then, with his trembling finger, he tapped the dismantle button.

"...Whoa!"

And as soon as he did, the derived item was sent straight to his inventory.

He skipped past the notification of success and quickly checked the new item he got.

<Greater Recovery Potion Lv. 9>

<A miracle potion crafted with the finest tools and the finest process, using fine ingredients. It can heal almost all wounds and restore lost blood.>

<Parameters: Vitality +9 (81 hours)>

<Material Cost: 49 Colts>

"Level nine!" Axel gasped, noticing the change.

Dismantling a level max potion produced ten level 9 potions instead! Rather than "dismantling," it was closer to "downgrading"!

"So this is what you meant!" Axel nodded, finally understanding what Navi meant.

For items with levels, dismantling them causes the level to drop, but the quantity increases! Seeing this, Axel didn't delay and repeated the process, bulk-dismantling all the potions from max level down to what's available at the market—level 7!

"Ten thousand level 7 Greater Recovery Potions..."

Calculating the cost, he'll be getting 10 billion for selling all these. It couldn't even compare to the price of one level-maximum potion, but at least this shouldn't catch anyone's attention too much.

"Still... this is a big loss..."

Axel could only sigh.

By now, he should've already understood that the system's basis of "value" wasn't based on market price but something else. Something that he has yet to figure out.

"Though with this, I can convert something that cost me roughly 500 Colts into 10 billion, so I guess that's fair." He shrugged.

After all, it's not like he couldn't make those max-level potions anymore. Which meant as soon as he could upgrade their camp's security enough that they wouldn't need to fear any raiders, then he could sell the max-level potions as-is!

"I just need patience for now. But soon enough, I'll be swimming in money!"

His eyes sparkled with the prospect of making bank with so little investment!

When his excitement faded, he then grabbed a new set of tools and began doing the same process for the Mana Potions recipe. The process was quite different from the health potions, but it still involved mincing, boiling, and mixing in the end.

Roughly half an hour later, a batch of mana potions was made...

<Greater Mana Potion Lv. Max>

<A miracle potion that was said to exist in the time of the gods. It was said to be made from the blood of gods themselves, and could fully recover one's mana no matter the capacity. Its recipe was lost to time and is now treated as a lost item.>

<Parameters: Mana +10 (permanent)>

<Material Cost: 67 Colts>

"..."

Another over-the-top item came out!

Of course, no such item existed in the shop at present.

Though there's a level 5 one that costs 250,000 Colts per bottle. That's about twice the price of the Greater Recovery Potion of the same level!

Although Axel successfully crafted the items as per the recipe stated, the fact that he made completely different items than he was supposed to still bothered him.

It was a good thing, as this item is not only more precious but would definitely have a demand, but he couldn't sit still without figuring out the reason "why" it happened.

"Well, not that I'm complaining..."

With a shrug, Axel continued to sell the potions in bulk in his shop.

Ten thousand Greater Recovery Potion Lv. 7, and one million Greater Recovery Potion Lv. 5!

With how there were "leftover stocks" of the same grade of potions in the market, Axel expected to see the items sell slowly... but to his surprise, they didn't. Rather, it was the opposite. His potions were selling fast, just like usual for his listed items!

His mana potions were bought by enchanters and mages, while his health potions were bought mostly by warriors. Of course, only their vague "class" was included in the information shown to Axel, so he couldn't really figure out much of anything...

Like determining who's a scalper or not.

"Weird... Again?"

Axel frowned, thinking.

Seeing the reaction of the consumers, he was puzzled as to why the other remaining potions of the same level remained unsold. They had the same price at the same level, after all.

"Hm...?"

Only after checking the shop item in earnest did he notice the difference.

"There's no buff...!"

At that moment, he realized what went wrong.

Unlike the normal potions, his potions contained a passive.

His recovery potions increased the consumer's vitality by +7 for 49 hours, while his mana potions increased the consumer's mana by +5 for 25 hours! This was a feature that couldn't be seen on any of the other potions!

"Damn!" Axel cursed, biting his lips.

He wasn't angry that he was too late to notice this, but rather...

"If I knew, I would've spiked the prices by at least 2.5 times!"

His thinking process was the same as usual!

All for profits!
