Slime#47 turned grim as he felt the gazes of powerful demons. Despite no one releasing the demonic force, the pressure was enormous.
'One wrong word… I'm dead,' he thought, sweating. 'I just want to complete my trials… that's all.'
He tried to sneak glances around, but Tebura questioned him again, "What do you know about Demon King Remora in your time?"
'What should I answer?' Slime#47 wondered, searching for a safer response. 'Should I say Demon King Remora was killed by Hero King Hinata?'
Just as he opened his mouth to answer—
"Stop."
A cold voice echoed through the street.
A mature, beautiful, middle-aged woman stepped out from the castle's massive black entrance. The air rippled as she emerged.
'It's… a barrier. I never spotted it.' Slime#47's eyes widened as he stared ahead. '…Nor could I sense it.'
The area around the castle entrance looked completely normal. There was no barrier—no trace of magic—in Slime#47's senses.
He finally looked at the woman.
She was extraordinarily beautiful, her figure perfectly proportioned.
'Is she a demon or a beast?' he thought as he noticed nine long white fox tails behind her, floating slightly above the ground, almost touching the floor.
Her hair was white and long, trailing down to her waist, and atop her head were smooth, furry fox ears.
She gave off a crisp, modern presence, wearing a formal red suit—high-waist trousers that fell straight down her legs, brushing the tops of her red formal shoes.
Beneath a standard blazer—buttoned only once at her waist—she wore a red silk button-down shirt.
A black slime was embroidered on her blazer with black thread, with stars surrounding it, similar to the academy uniform pattern.
She was intimidating. Her body glowed faintly with black light.
'Even in this past… otherworlders existed?' Slime#47 clicked his tongue as he noticed her dress. 'Luckily, she's wearing red. If it were white, she'd look like a ceremonial statue.'
Because of her presence, everyone stopped focusing on the slime.
Even Tebura, Aurora, and the intelligent demon in the black-gold coat stepped aside, despite wanting to question Slime#47.
"It's Seralyth—the heartless devil teacher… run," a bulky young goat demon clad in a green coat academy uniform muttered, hurrying away.
Hearing his words, many demons immediately returned to their work, acting like nothing had happened.
"Quick…" a thin woman whispered, running off.
The goat demon looked mostly human, except he had two goat legs and goat horns.
But once he realized he'd accidentally used her nickname—popular among students—he panicked—and ran on four legs instead of two.
"Hey! Stop there." Seralyth pointed her index finger casually. Yet her finger pointed precisely at the goat demon.
"He's done for," someone whispered.
"Yeah. How dare he speak that title in front of her?"
"Does he think she couldn't hear him?" another mocked.
The young goat demon trembled and stopped.
He slowly walked toward her. He knew she had found him.
If he tried to escape, she would find him anyway in the next class.
So he could only approach and admit his mistake.
Seralyth glanced at the trembling goat demon.
She calmly ordered, "Speak numbers from one to ten in Dragon Tongue."
"Dragon Tongue? You've got to be kidding me," someone whispered from the side.
"Heh… he got lucky… she's unusually lenient today?" A black gold uniform donkey demon muttered, feeling doubtful.
"Maybe because he's a first-year?" A deer demon in the same black gold uniform replied.
'Dragon Tongue… what's so unique about it?' Young Slime thought.
Noticing his doubt, Aurora explained, "Dragon Tongue is one of the toughest languages in the world—a true language."
She paused as the goat demon started: "One, two…" in Dragon Tongue. His face paled, with sweat falling from his forehead.
Aurora continued, "To speak in Dragon Tongue, you need to use mana. Unlike other languages that use sound, this uses mana itself as the base."
"Are there too many languages like that?" Young Slime asked, feeling there shouldn't be only Dragon Tongue.
"Yes. There are many true languages, like Phoenix Tongue, Vampire Tongue, and Ancient Demonic Tongue," she replied, glancing at the goat demon, who was turning paler and paler as his mana ran out.
'Ancient Demonic Tongue…' Young Slime narrowed his eyes and tried to use his Demonic Tongue skill. 'It's a legendary-level skill—and maxed out too. I should be able to speak all demon languages.'
After a few moments, he realized he could. 'Yes… I can use it,' he thought, grinning as full knowledge of Ancient Demonic Tongue flooded his mind.
Thud!
The goat demon fell to the ground after speaking only five numbers.
The heartless teacher spat, "Pathetic. Can't even properly speak ten numbers in Dragon Tongue. Even an ordinary human soldier would kill you with a single hit," she glanced at the fainted goat demon with disgust, "Go home and start taking care of babies or growing crops. That's all the use you have."
Then she pointed at an ordinary young sheep demon, who trembled under her gaze.
"You are his friend, aren't you?" she asked.
Under her sharp eyes, the sheep demon—clad in a yellow long-coat uniform—nodded. "Yes." 'I don't even know him…' he thought bitterly.
"Good. Take him to his house. And tell him not to come to the academy until he can properly speak ten numbers in Dragon Tongue," she commanded.
Then she turned to Tebura, Aurora, and the intelligent demon beside Slime#47 and scolded them, "It's not good to know about the future."
She turned her eyes to Slime#47, "Come. Follow."
Aurora glanced at Tebura. He narrowed his eyes at her.
They exchanged small nods.
They decided to follow too—they were curious about the future.
Wob!
Slime#47 bounced after Seralyth and continued following her toward the castle entrance.
Seralyth walked in front without turning her head. She asked coldly, "Who gave you a temporary name—and that too as Slime#47?"
Young Slime caught up, glanced at her, and asked back, "Didn't you say it wasn't good to know the future?"
She grinned. "Not bad. Speaking back despite being so weak… wait, Tier 2, and you already possess demonic force."
She folded her arms as she checked his status.
She clicked her tongue and sighed. "You already possess that level of power at mere Tier 2… looks like your times are hard."
Then she mused, 'I hope he passes the trials and gains the power of the Demon King's heir.'
"So—how many years do you have?" She asked, wanting to teach the best she could.
