'A few years… ten years minimum?' Slime#47 was puzzled.
"Don't slimes take only one year to awaken their intelligence?" he asked, 'I still remember… Elder Slime stated that slimes take only one year to awaken.'
Seralyth glanced at him and, after a brief pause, said, "It might be different in your time. Since you are a slime, it might have something to do with Lord Remora."
'Looks like even she doesn't know,' Slime#47 mused. An itch crawled through him as he couldn't find an answer. 'I miss the all-knowing Elder Slime like never before.'
"Back to the topic." She clapped her hands, snapping everyone's attention back. "Well, since it takes time for demons to awaken their intelligence, they are granted their own racial language skill."
She paused and quickly turned to her right, randomly pointing at the bull demon.
"Like this student over here, for example… after he awakened his intelligence, he already had Bull Tongue in his skill section. Didn't you?" she asked, staring at the trembling bull humanoid demon.
"Yes… I awakened Bull Tongue at Lv.max right after I awakened," the bull replied politely in a delicate young male voice.
'That voice doesn't suit his muscular body,' Slime#47 mused, clicking his tongue.
Seralyth nodded. "And this is the actual reason. Since it takes time for us to awaken intelligence, we gain language directly—while humans need to learn it. It can be considered fairness."
She continued with a small grin, "But a few lucky ones"—she pointed at the multicolored slime—"like this young slime over here has acquired the skill Demon Tongue Lv.Max, which includes all demon languages."
"What?"
A few students couldn't control themselves. They stared in disbelief, their gazes snapping to the multicolored slime.
Slime#47 became the focus of the entire classroom as whispers erupted and fingers pointed his way.
"Does that mean he doesn't have to learn any demon language?? Even Ancient Demonic Language… Knox?"
"Knox… I spent five years, and I'm still at the basics."
"What a lucky slime…"
"I want that skill..."
"Why don't I have that kind of luck…"
The class instructor cut off the discussion, her voice cold. "He already knows all demon languages, so he doesn't need to learn them."
She grinned at the students. "And by the way, you all are lucky, because this class was specially prepared for him. You don't need to learn all demonic languages from the beginning."
She pulled a piece of white chalk from thin air and announced, "First, I'll teach other languages. After this small slime over here learns all languages, then we will proceed to demonic languages."
"Good. I don't want to see those Knox language letters… I was getting dizzy from them," someone muttered from the back.
Hearing they didn't need to learn demon languages, some students sighed. Some were irritated. Some were joyful.
"Now, let's start with language types." The fox instructor wrote Types of Languages on the blackboard in the common demon language. Every demon had already learnt that language at the academy since it was the first to learn.
Thud! Thud!
At that moment, an old demon with crimson-edged glasses, a bent back, and a modern black suit walked slowly into the classroom. A black slime emblem was embedded on his blazer.
Some students glanced at him with hopeful eyes.
"So… it's Seralyth…" the old demon said slowly, looking at the nine-tailed fox demon.
"I didn't know it was your class, Professor Brad," Seralyth said apologetically, turning toward him.
"No, no. It's fine, child," Brad replied calmly. "You can continue. I'll sit in the back and watch. Anyway, the language class is boring. Not many students bother to focus on it."
"Wh…."
"No… Professor…"
His words crushed the hopeful students who wanted to escape.
Seralyth nodded as Professor Brad went to the back and sat in a random seat in the last row.
The students on the last bench moved too close to make space for him, growing congested.
"So...Types of languages—there are three types." The fox instructor raised her index finger. "First: Common languages. They are the languages we use in day-to-day conversation. They work based on sound frequencies."
She raised her second finger. "Second: True languages. They are spoken using mana itself. High-level experts use these languages in battle and other critical moments."
After glancing at doubtful students like Young Slime, she explained, "Common languages cannot travel fast enough, nor can they reach the opponent in high-level battles. And in certain areas—soundless zones, magic arrays, or barrier zones—common languages won't work, while true languages do."
Finally, she raised her ring finger, "Third: the divine—"
She paused as she noticed a humanoid cat demon student staring out of class through a window.
"Hmm." Seralyth hummed sharply.
A drop of lava fell.
Gzz!
Hot cyan liquid splashed onto her as she screamed, "AHH!"
Hot smoke rose from the burn. The cat demon's green coat melted away, and her uniform—along with white skin—peeled off.
The burned cat demon looked almost human—except for her cat ears and tail.
"AHHH!"
Seeing the wailing cat demon, everyone felt a chill.
'I miss Elder Slime… my other teachers were so kind,' Slime#47 thought as he trembled. Every teacher from his previous life felt heavenly compared to her.
Professor Brad nodded, muttering, "This type of student requires modern teaching. Seralyth is a perfect teacher."
"Just because she wasn't paying attention…" Young Slime muttered under his breath. A chill swept his core, and he focused fully—without even blinking.
After a few moments—
Thud!
The cat demon fell unconscious.
"Rapid Healing!" Seralyth cast a spell.
A light-green magic rune circle flashed near the cat demon, and light-green rays fell on her, healing the burned skin.
The burned uniform expanded and smoothly recovered. The cat demon instantly woke up and glanced around.
"It's incredible," Slime#47 muttered, focusing on the uniform's recovery.
Seralyth said coldly, "Pay attention. If you repeat it, you'll…"
She didn't continue—but everyone understood.
The cat demon nodded, trembling.
Seralyth clapped her hands. "So, number three: divine languages. They are the languages of gods."
She wrote on the board, tapping it. "Unlike true languages, divine languages are spoken using divinity. Only those who have divine power can speak divine languages."
She paused, "You cannot learn them—and you never will."
She turned to Young Slime. "Even your trial doesn't include divine languages, even though it states all languages, since you don't have divine power to master them."
'So I only need to learn common and true languages,' Young Slime noted.
"Just how many languages are there… and only three months are given to me," he muttered under his breath.
