Slime#47, who was smashed forward, activated his combo skill.
"Elemental Body! Blue Elemental Variation!"
He turned into a sparrow made of lightning and—Zzz!—shot into the air, balancing himself.
"Elemental Body is powerful," Thomas said as he flashed behind the sparrow, "but it's weak to other elements."
The lion demon swept his palm downward to strike.
A layer of crimson energy coated his palm.
'To think he forced Instructor Thomas to use aura…' Nobi's eyes widened.
All this time, Instructor Thomas had never used any energy—only raw physical strength.
But he had no choice now, because Elemental Body was immune to ordinary attacks.1
"Demonic Surge. Demonic Cloak. Double Elemental Shield!" Young Slime used everything at once.
Dark demonic force wrapped his sparrow body.
A long cloak covered his entire form—even his head.
Two layers of five-colored barriers formed around him.
Crack!
Useless.
The shields shattered the instant Thomas's palm touched them, and the strike landed.
Boom!
Slime#47 slammed into the ground, spitting slime-blood, and reverted to his humanoid slime form.
It was a severe hit. A palm mark remained etched into his body even after he returned to slime form.
Thud!
"Good," Thomas praised as he landed.
'What…?' Nobi's mouth hung open as she noticed a scratch mark on Thomas's palm.
When the lion demon struck the lightning body, the electric power—mixed with demonic force—bit back and left a light bruise.
It wasn't much, but Young Slime had managed to inflict damage.
"Demonic Recuperation."
Black energy surged around Slime#47 as he healed himself.
He was badly injured. Rapid Healing wasn't enough—he was forced to use a true-magic healing spell.
'What do I do?' Young Slime thought. His power was far below Thomas's.
"I burned almost thirty percent of my demonic force reserves in that lightning form…" he muttered, clicking his tongue, "and I didn't even injure him."
His senses weren't lying. The instructor was far superior.
'It should work,' Slime#47 decided as a plan formed.
"Multi Phantom!"
Boom!
Thirty clones appeared, all in the form of six-year-old human kids.
"Elemental Body! Blue Elemental Variation!"
They all used the combo.
One became an earth slime with a blue-metal body golem.
Another became a blue lightning sparrow.
Another became a blue-flame peacock.
Others became blue wind and blue heavy-water slimes.
Of the thirty, more than ten were blue-metal bodies, while the rest spread across other elements. They were still in humanoid form.
Thud! Thud!
Heavy footsteps echoed as the earth forms advanced.
Bang! Bang!
The ground shook as the heavier bodies charged. Water, wind, lightning, and fire slime bodies floated and rushed from the air.
Thomas only observed, hands behind his back, waiting for the clones to reach him.
He wanted to see what Slime#47 planned.
"What's he doing? No way…" Nobi narrowed her eyes, brows furrowing.
"That skill divides power. He has no chance even at full strength." She muttered, still not understanding. "Clones make it worse."
Boom!
All the slimes lunged at the instructor.
"Ganging up with numbers won't work," Thomas said plainly.
Puff! Puff!
He punched them one by one with his aura-coated right fist.
One punch erased one clone. Each vanished into thin air.
Within moments, all the clones were gone.
Thomas glanced at the main body of Slime#47, who was standing blankly in front of him.
Whoosh!
He lunged at the remaining slime.
Tap!
Slime#47 lightly tapped the tile beneath his right foot.
The ground beneath shattered.
Yet the marble tiles weren't scratched at all—every tile remained intact.
A huge crater opened as Young Slime fell in, along with the tiles.
The array connections collapsed, and the light-violet barrier vanished.
"Demonic Bind! Demonic Pulse!"
From the crater, thick dark veins surged up and wrapped around Thomas midair.
At the same time, a dark beam formed and shot at him from Slime#47's left palm.
He was using one spell in each hand.
"So… that's the plan." Nobi grinned, finally understanding. 'But it won't work.'
As she expected, the binds snapped with a slight twitch.
Thomas used slight force to land on the other side, dodging the beam.
"Tch!" Young Slime clicked his tongue, landing on the rocky ground below as he canceled his spell.
Bang!
Thomas followed, jumping into the crater.
"Incredible… it would've worked on many—" Thomas began.
"It won't work on stronger beings like you…?" Slime#47 cut in, finishing the sentence.
The instructor grinned. "Yes. You're too weak."
Young Slime's eyes twitched.
When Slime#47 had his clones gang up, he secretly used Earth Mold to modify the ground beneath—creating the crater a few meters deep.
Nobi had been focused on Thomas, so she hadn't spotted Earth Mold.
Slime#47 only wanted a fraction of a second—enough to fire Demonic Pulse cleanly.
But Thomas snapped the bind even faster than he'd wanted and dodged.
"You have incredible combat senses," the instructor praised.
Slime#47 extended his palm, ready to cast another spell, but Thomas shook his head.
"That's enough. I understand your combat style and instincts."
Slime#47 sighed, relieved.
Then he asked curiously, "What tier are you?"
He wanted to know. He hadn't landed a single clean hit.
"It doesn't matter to you," Thomas replied. "But I'll tell you one thing."
He grinned. "I haven't even used my skills or any enhancement. With just my base body, I dealt that damage to you."
"Why are you lying?" Nobi yelled, jumping down into the crater—Thud!
"Lying?" Slime#47 repeated, frowning.
"The instructor wasn't even using one percent of his power," Nobi said bluntly.
"One percent?" Slime#47's eyes widened. 'I could indeed sense he was extraordinary… but only one percent?'
"He only coated his hands with aura to land a blow on your Elemental Body," Nobi explained. "Otherwise, he wouldn't even need that."
"And you're the first to make Instructor Thomas coat his hands with aura."
"Well, well, well…" Thomas clapped, amused—
But Nobi cut him off. "He isn't anything special! It was his skill—Elemental Body!"
"What's wrong?" Slime#47 asked, glancing at her.
Nobi had been friendly and kind toward him.
Now she was acting completely differently.
Thomas rubbed the back of his head. "She's battle-thirsty."
"She never landed a blow on me or made me use energy," he said. "But you did."
"I see," Slime#47 understood.
"Hey, hey—let's spar!" Nobi yelled, drawing her sword.
"Are you an idiot?" Thomas snapped. "He's too weak for you."
"He can't withstand a single clean hit from you."
Young Slime's eyes twitched. He rubbed his forehead, embarrassed.
Elemental Body can be damaged by brute strength, but it takes insane power, and if Thomas used that much power, the entire arena would shatter first...so, he went with aura coating...It's coated, not a boost.
