'It hurts…' Slime#47 thought, his body sinking as if dragged into a lightless ocean.
"Why… do I have to suffer?" he muttered. "I want to rest…"
A burning pain clawed up from his soul. He wanted to scream, but even that was exhausting to him.
He just wanted to fall asleep and forget everything.
----
"Stop!" the female silhouette shouted, staring at the two souls within Slime#47's body—half fused together.
"Hmm… I need to be quick," Vael muttered, glancing at the towering brilliance. "They won't kill me anyway."
A Grade 4 sealed artifact was absurdly rare. People would wield it instead of destroying it—and living beings needed them to fight against unholy creatures. That was what Vael was betting on to save his life.
"Hm…" the lady hummed.
Vael stiffened. "What's going on…? I feel heavy—I can't move!"
"This power is insane," he muttered, as his soul was overwhelmed by a massive pressure.
ZZZ!
Another massive male silhouette formed beside her. His facial features weren't clearly visible—just like the woman's, but he was medium-built and muscular, with long flowing white hair; one glance at his figure made it obvious he was handsome.
"You are finally here… Time God," the lady said, glancing at him. "So, what do you think?"
"He is the first to come this close to true death," Time God said quietly. "Out of all earthlings I picked, he got closest to dying."
"If he fails here," the lady said, voice steady, "he truly dies. His soul will be wiped out—without hope of reincarnation."
"You cannot cure him?" Time God asked, eyes fixed on the fused souls.
"Can you?" the lady retorted.
"Half of his soul already fused with the unholy creature's." Time God said. "I need to slice it and heal it, but…"
He was cut off as the lady continued. "His soul will be injured. Even if healed with light magic, his personality and memories will be affected."
Time God dropped the final problem. "And it's a question whether he can withstand soul-slicing pain… his soul might collapse from the inside."
"So we abandon him to death?" the lady asked, a slight tremor in her voice. She wanted to save Slime#47.
After all, he got into this situation because of them.
"He can only depend on himself," Time God clarified, mercilessly. "That sealed artifact made this problem worse."
"Hmm...You're the one who brought this," the lady mocked. "It was you who placed that artifact near him."
"I only provided a way to overcome the problem. And you should have killed him before things got this serious." Time God retorted.
"Hmm… you have seen many timelines," the lady asked coldly. "Couldn't you see this timeline?"
Time God turned silent.
"So you have seen this timeline as well…" she exclaimed at his ruthlessness. "Yet you still placed that artifact?"
"It's the only path," Time God replied. "He has to suffer… Even gold is tested by fire before it becomes fine jewellery."
With a sigh, the lady asked, "In how many timelines did he overcome this?"
Time God paused and didn't reply.
"Was it a few? A thousand?" the lady pressed.
Time God stayed silent.
"Then at least tell me… how many timelines did you see him fail?" she changed her question.
"More than one billion," Time God replied—and ended the conversation by turning his head toward Slime#47, not wanting to look at her.
He casted. "Reinforced Mind Transmission, Hyper Mind Projection."
"What is your dream?" he asked directly into Young Slime's mind.
----
"He is brimming with authority of time…" Vael was shocked to the core as he stared at the huge male silhouette. 'Only one person in all existence has that kind of power over time… Time God.'
"What is your dream?" Time God's majestic, divine voice rang through both souls.
Young Slime, roaming between each death, heard him.
'My dream… what is it?' he wondered.
He had always drifted through life, never chasing anything.
"Goals? Dreams?" Vael sneered as he appeared beside Slime#47 in the false world, where he kept getting killed repeatedly.
Puk!
He was killed by the slender armored woman, as her sword pierced his core.
"You're tired. Why are you suffering?" Vael kept whispering. "Go to sleep… you're tired… don't suffer more…"
"Yeah… why suffer…" Slime#47 muttered as he again felt the pain of death.
His body felt unbearably heavy as his eyes closed in the false world created by his mental plane, while the slime farm owner attacked him with aura‑enhanced swords.
He was a Lesser Elemental Slime—and he even knew Demonic magic in the false world—but he didn't resist. He let the man slash his multicolored body as he wished.
"Yes… Sleep," Vael whispered, with the 'bewitching voice', "Leave everything behind."
"What is your dream?" A mature, gentle female voice asked—the same question inside Slime#47's mind.
'It's Mama Slime…' he remembered.
"Child… what is your dream?" Mama Slime appeared in the imaginary world, while the slime farm owner struggled hard to injure him.
"My dream…" Young Slime regained a little light as he questioned himself.
"No… no dream… dreams are a waste… just sleep. You suffered a lot," Vael soothed, but his eyes turned furious at Mama Slime's figure.
"What is your dream?" Mama Slime kept asking, with a small grin.
"Tch—Bi-Aura Fist!" Vael snapped and punched Mama Slime with his tiny, crimson‑shining fists—shattering her image.
"What is your dream, my child?" Two Mama Slimes appeared.
Then three… five… ten.
Soon, the entire imaginary world was filled with Mama Slimes.
And in between them, an ordinary middle‑aged woman appeared—wrinkles, grey at her temples. "Ganesh, I want to see you return to Earth," she said with a gentle smile.
"Mom!" Slime#47 yelled as light in his eyes fully returned.
"Demonic Fist!" He slammed his glowing black fist into the slime farm owner, shattering his body into a rain of blood.
"You still owe me money," a black-haired young woman said flatly, appearing next to the middle‑aged woman.
"Idiot. Can't do your work properly," a middle‑aged man with grey hair appeared near the young woman and scolded the young slime.
"Sis, Dad…" Young Slime's eyes filled with tears.
He had finally seen his family after hundreds of loops.
"There you go—still relying on your big brother," a muscular young man said with a grin, appearing near the middle‑aged man.
"Rudra…" Young Slime muttered. He grinned as he looked at his older brother.
"So, what is your dream in your current Slime life?" everyone asked.
"Annoying… disgusting," Vael hissed, tearing into the illusions.
Slamming his fists into Mama Slime and Slime#47's family—but if he destroyed one image, two formed. If two were destroyed, five formed, and so on.
'My current dream…' Young Slime thought.
