"Generals!"
The soldiers began to shiver once they realized what they were up against.
"Don't falter!"
Just when it seemed over, a powerful shout grounded them in place. Like a raven, Noah pounced on the nearest General without any kind of hesitation.
"We are many, and they are few! Team up and keep them busy until we deal with them!"
Since the Generals outnumbered the Grandmasters, the soldiers had to keep the unaccounted Generals busy until they received help.
It was certainly far from a perfect plan, yet in the current circumstances there were no other options.
"You heard him! Advance!" Alice proclaimed, commanding her subordinates to push forward.
The average soldiers would have cowered in fear, but only the most mentally resilient personnel had been chosen for the mission. Most were able to ignore their instincts and go towards the danger.
"Glory to Mankind!"
With seven of the Generals slowly being dealt with, the other five had to be slowed down.
"Team up with me!"
Below the Grandmasters were the Masters. Naturally, the Experts and the Adepts grouped around them, creating teams.
Despite possessing great might, these people didn't think that they were able to hurt the Generals, much less kill them. They were focused on surviving for as long as possible.
Explosions began to resonate amidst the raging blizzards as the humans and the aliens clashed.
"This has to be some kind of nightmare."
When the derailment had happened, Ava had been deep asleep. When she woke up, she doubted her senses.
"No, this is real."
It didn't take her longer than a second to assess her surroundings. With great difficulty she lifted a part of the debris that had fallen on her, then she immediately began to look for her weapon.
"It's here!"
Heaving a sigh of relief now that she was armed, she made use of her small stature to squeeze past the train wreck.
"Gods…"
Her eyes narrowed to the size of needles when she saw the scale of the destruction. Her fists clenched tightly as she made haste to find the others.
Just as she promised, she was never going to cower in fear again.
"Claire! Bryce!"
A faint smile tugged her lips when she saw the two.
"Ava? Have you seen my mecha?" Claire asked. Once she found her grandfather, she tried to find her mecha amidst the wrecks since that was her main way of fighting.
Yet it proved to be troublesome. The blizzard made it hard to see, not to mention the dark smoke that rose in the air and the snow that was quickly building up.
Ava shook her head. "No, let's look for it together!"
With silent nods Claire and Bryce joined her.
Until they found the members of their group, they weren't going to face the Generals.
"Cute Junior?" A wave of relief washed over Victoria once she saw them. She was currently helping Amelia stand on her feet.
Boom!
The number of fights happening around the area began to intensify.
Making haste, they scanned the nearby wreckage to the best of their abilities.
Fortunately they managed to find Leo and Enzo. The two were waiting near Claire's mecha since they knew how powerful the thing was.
"Where is Michael?!" Ava asked anxiously. He was the only one missing, and without him they were without a leader.
Even Claire and Bryce had begun to subconsciously follow Michael's command, so Ava's feelings were mutual.
"It will be hard to find him." Claire said, boarding her mecha.
"The train was enormous, and the carriages were scattered all around the area; the wreckage stretches for kilometers. He must have been separated from us." Victoria analyzed.
"We can't leave him alone. We have to find him!" Enzo exclaimed, hitting his two gauntlets together to show his eagerness.
However, their search was instantly halted when a powerful aura swept over their hearts.
"Hoho. I am quite lucky. This is a small group."
From the weight of the voice, they knew a General had found them.
While the Grandmasters focused on confronting part of the alien forces, the rest of the enemy was supposed to be delayed by the lesser troops. However, the storm made it difficult to assemble a large enough force. As a result, most of the lesser troops perished, unable to hold off the Generals for long.
"Prepare!" Knowing that there was no outrunning such a monster, Victoria instantly took up the command. Bearing her magma sword upright, she pounced with all the strength she could muster.
"You don't have to tell me twice!" Claire grunted, switching to melee mode. Since the two were the only Masters in their group, they had to take the initiative.
"I will prove to myself that I have grown stronger!" Ava didn't hesitate to join them, as did the others.
"I am not letting my Sunshine die." Bryce said coldly, every trace of playfulness gone from his voice. He didn't care much for his life, but his granddaughter was another matter entirely.
Reaching the General, the two Masters struck simultaneously.
"You two pack more punch than expected." The alien muttered with no amusement in its voice.
"Explosion!"
With its focus solely on the Masters, it missed Ava and her petite build that had flanked it. Making her hammer as light as a feather, she lifted it before making it as heavy as a mountain, striking downwards.
With the Rare cybernetic comprehended, she caused an explosion at the point of impact.
BOOM!
"What the hell is this?"
The alien exclaimed in surprise. The attack of an Expert had actually managed to hurt it!
It didn't have time to ponder as the others joined the fray.
While the Indomitable Alliance were locked in battle with a General, Michael was ignoring everything around him, searching for the carriages that had housed his people.
"This one was Ava's!" He intensified his efforts once he realized where he was.
He was forced to stop soon after. In the middle of the carriage, a figure similar to a human stood gripping the head of a slain man.
This was another General that had just dealt with a group of Masters. They had managed to exhaust it and even wound it but perished at the very end.
"Hm?"
Just when the alien was about to head towards the still-battling Grandmasters and tip the scale of combat, it noticed a pair of eyes locked onto it.
"A lone human dares show itself before me? Now this is rare!" It sneered, throwing the head to the side.
'Ava has to be somewhere here,' Michael thought, his eyes growing more menacing.
Unwilling to let harm come to his crew, his lips pursed.
"Move."
