Instantly the unit gathered around the monitor Claire was looking at.
Just like she had claimed, the man had finally come out of his hiding.
'He is indeed the one.' Michael instantly confirmed that this was indeed the Lord that they had been scouting for.
"Shouldn't we contact Azure's Lord about how he was right about where the enemy was?" Leo asked.
"No." Michael shook his head. "Remember how he said he doesn't want to hear from us until we accomplish both of our tasks? Contacting him now will only bring trouble."
The unit observed the enemy Lord carefully. Since the man had come out when the brigade had neared, this could have meant that he planned on attacking them head-on.
Swoosh!
Faster than a beat, his figure blurred. Sending snow flying outwards, he sped off towards the army.
However, just when the unit thought that the Lord had gone insane and was about to attack the soldiers, his steps began to slow down, gradually coming to a halt.
Carefully he put a hood over his head, hiding his features. Then discreetly he entered the human ranks from the side, disappearing from their line of sight.
"It appears that we aren't the only ones that are cautious to remain hidden." Michael mused.
After they made sure that nobody could see them, the unit approached the brigade.
"Now this is impressive firepower." Richard remarked as they neared.
Everybody mirrored his thoughts. This was without a doubt the biggest and strongest army they had ever borne witness to.
Aside from the Lords that were traveling at the very front, there were millions of soldiers. Men and women that had come from all parts of Neptune with the mission to liberate the planet's dark side.
Among the numerous soldiers there were thousands of mechas, some being operated by a pilot, while others relied on AI, similar to Cyberfang.
Regardless of how one looked at it, the Lords weren't pulling punches. This was them truly going all out.
Once done admiring humanity's might, the troops stealthily reached the rear of the brigade and joined in.
Because of the sheer number of soldiers in the human ranks, dividing them by realm was completely impractical. As a result, no one paid any attention to the fact that Experts were traveling alongside Grandmasters.
Thankfully, there were no troops from Azure or Vespera's city nearby, so no one recognized Michael or his crew.
The only glances they would receive were ones by men that seemed captivated by the women's beauty.
"We managed to sneak in!" Ava's face beamed in anticipation. Perhaps it was due to her short stature that she loved playing the role of undercover infiltrator.
"Looking at the troops, I can deduce that they haven't been forced to fight yet." Michael exclaimed. "It appears the funnel we have created has played its role quite well."
Of course, all good things must come to an end. The brigade had reached the last city Michael and his crew had liberated, meaning there was now a high chance of enemy interference.
"Prioritize your safety and try to save anyone you can." Victoria reminded.
Meanwhile, Claire nudged Bryce's elbow.
"And you! Don't you dare leave my line of sight. Otherwise I might kill you myself!"
Stroking his overgrown beard, the old man laughed joyfully. "Alright, Sunshine."
Bzzzz!
Eventually the disturbing buzzing of the savage Ro'trah reached their ears.
A giant city loomed on the horizon before them. The settlement was large. Undoubtedly it had been one of the biggest cities of Neptune before it had fallen under the wrath of the Ro'trah.
Michael wondered what the Lords would do next. They could try to move around it, but that was risky. It might leave them vulnerable to an ambush. On the other hand, attacking directly could exhaust the army before the main battle even began.
BOOM!
To his surprise, the Lords took action. Instead of leaving their subordinates to handle what they would normally consider a minor threat, they chose to act themselves. Their figures shot toward the city, intent on dealing with the problem personally.
"..."
In response the brigade came to a complete halt. The soldiers watched with wide eyes as the dozen or so Lords carved through the swarm like feral beasts, bringing death and destruction wherever they went.
Becoming witness to such a sight was a rare opportunity. They made sure to absorb as much from their superior's fighting style as they could.
BZZZZ!
In response to the Lords appearance, the hive entered a frenzy, doing their best to protect their queen to the best of their ability. Yet in the end it all proved meaningless before mighty Lords.
ROAR!
It didn't take long for them to find the queen of the swarm. Evident by her functioning body and numerous minions, she was in the General tier.
A nightmare for ordinary troops and barely an inconvenience against the Lords. She didn't even last a single minute.
"Humanity was born to inherit the stars!"
Once the troops recovered from the spectacle and realized that the threat before them had been exterminated, they chanted in absolute respect.
Unwilling to lose time, the Lords ordered for the brigade to continue their march.
"Truthfully this was impressive…" Richard observed the ruined city with curiosity as they moved past it.
The Lords had been so thoughtful in their annihilation of the enemy that the city was beyond repair.
"Boss… Are you sure we're not overestimating ourselves by trying to exterminate them? I struggle to think how I can play a part in bringing down such monsters."
Michael chuckled as he patted the man on the shoulder. "Relax, I am not so mad as to expect you to stand against them. Your role will be to make sure that no one of our squad dies."
Richard's eyes sparkled in anticipation.
"So you plan to stand against them alone? HAHAHA! You truly know how to have fun!"
Slowly the brigade moved deeper into Neptune's dark side. Along the way several more settlements with General queens stood before their path. Yet they all were eradicated by the Lords before they could affect the army in any way.
Gradually the surroundings darkened. The reason wasn't an approaching night, but the enormous swarm of billions of aliens that flew overhead.
After more than a week of marching, the brigade had reached the heart of Neptune's dark side.
Their final destination.
