"You don't have to worry about us." Skylar reassured. "We are trained reporters. As such, we are able to mask our presence very well. Just act as you normally would. Leave the editing to Luis."
"Easy for you to say." Luis commented, concealing their presence.
'They are quite good.' Michael mused. 'If a cultivator didn't specially search for them, spotting them would be hard. Perhaps it's the work of some valuable technique.'
"Man, I am feeling nervous. Never did I imagine somebody would be recording my every move for a documentary." Enzo admitted with a somber smile.
"Don't think too much about it." Michael advised.
"Not like he is capable of thought." Richard chuckled.
Clearing her throat, Ava reminded the two to follow the plan. Since they had to follow their roles, they couldn't be calling Michael their leader or act too familiar.
Moving as a unit, they didn't need to think too deeply about where to search for their target. The hideout of the gang was easy to spot, a several-floor building with reinforced windows and several cultivators standing guard.
"Did I overestimate them?" Richard murmured in dejection. The guards were of the Expert realm. What may have appeared as an uncrossable border to mortal civilians was a bug in his eyes.
Michael shook his head. "In the majority of cases, gangs like these aren't being led by soldiers. At best their leaders would have a history of being on the front line, but the lackeys themselves wouldn't be that powerful."
"Wait a second." Enzo found it weird. "If they are really so weak, then why are they still in business? I mean, a single Grandmaster should be able to take care of them single-handedly, right?"
"Naive." Ava scoffed. "Have you learned nothing from our time in Neptune? As long as the troublemakers are obedient and bow their heads to the real powers, they will remain untouched. Regardless of how much they torment the normal population… I hoped that at least on Earth such injustice would not come to pass, but alas…"
Michael patted Ava on the head. "Remember your role. You are a powerful waitress in front of the camera. We don't want to make Luis cut too much content."
Nonchalantly, Michael approached the guards.
"Yo!" One of them greeted him. "You have business with our boss?"
"I do." Michael nodded. "It will be for the best if I meet him."
Heaving a sigh, the guard shook his head. "Meeting him is only possible if you have a reason. Like paying a protection fee, or… Selling some of the good stuff."
"The good stuff?" Ava tilted her head to the side.
"Good stuff… You know things that would fetch a pretty penny. Like valuable information, intense drugs, pure women, things like that." The other guard elaborated. "Also, if you wish to buy something, you can enter, though you won't be speaking with our leader."
"Going alongside their plan will be the best course of action." Enzo said, playing his role.
"Your judgment is far too narrow-minded, my disciple." Richard said calmly.
Boom!
A second later the guards collapsed on the ground unconscious as the front door was blasted wide open.
'Excessive violence would generate more traction. Good thinking.' Michael agreed with the Grandmaster's actions entering the gang's building.
"Hey… Was my impression wrong? At this rate they aren't going to struggle at all." Luis whispered.
"It's fine." Skylar nodded thoughtfully. "Seeing the people who've tormented you get crushed like bugs… Yeah, that's definitely the kind of thing most of the audience is looking for."
Like an unstoppable force, the unit infiltrated the gang's building, panic spreading like wildfire.
"Who are these guys?"
"I don't give a shit! Kill them!"
"Our bullets bounce right off them! They must be experienced soldiers!"
"Fuck! Who ordered a hit on us?!"
One by one the floors became littered with the unconscious bodies of the outlaws. Michael and his crew could've taken them out in an instant, but since documentaries were easier to market without dead bodies, they kept them alive.
Not too long after, they reached the final floor. There, a man with a large belly and a few missing teeth resided alone with several seductively dressed women.
"Wait!" The man raised his two hands in submission, hiding behind his mistresses. "Whatever you want! Money, contacts, women… I got it all! Just say the word, and they are yours!"
Exchanging glances, Michael made sure Luis was recording before declaring.
"You have tormented numerous lives for far too long. Your regime ends today! And remember, your biggest mistake was targeting my family and their simple coffee shop!"
"Reconsider!" The fat man bellowed. "This is the first time I am seeing you. There has to be some kind of mistake—"
Before the man could finish, Michael knocked him out cold.
"Would this work as promotional material?" Michael questioned.
"It's perfect!" Skylar exclaimed in excitement she had made sure to manipulate the camera angles to Michael's benefit. It wouldn't be hard to turn him into a figure that women would thirst over.
Not to mention, with his crew in the mix, there was a certain type of character dynamic that would draw in a huge audience. The operation was a success.
"All that is left is to film your celebration in the cafe, and the documentary will be complete!"
While they headed back to Michael's home, the headquarters of the Wang family were in disarray due to the temper of a young master.
"For fuck's sake!" Enraged, Samuel broke his table.
"The humiliating encounter with Michael is still gnawing at my mind. To make matters worse, my siblings are slowly leaving me behind. If I didn't act soon, I would lose the support of my family!"
Still in his rage, a hurried knock calmed him down.
"Enter." Samuel ordered.
"Y—Young master." A servant bowed to him. "We have received news about one of our branches…"
Slowly, a smile crept across Samuel's face. Since Scarlett had proven too stubborn to submit to him, he had discreetly supported one of the local gangs near her family's shop. The plan was for the gang to pressure them for protection fees, only for him to swoop in at the last moment, use his influence to save them, and capture the untainted heart of the young maiden.
"Since you are here, there is good news, I reckon?" The young master laughed. "Finally, they must be preparing to put pressure on her family!"
A cold shiver ran down the servant's spine, his forehead drenching in sweat.
"Actually, it's the opposite... We just got a report that someone infiltrated their headquarters and took down the entire gang, including its leader."
Samuel's breath hitched, his eyes gradually turning bloodshot.
"You've got to be fucking kidding me…"
