I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 104: Justice

By the time Li Xin was brought out by Kathy, who was wearing black leather boots, it was already late at night. On one hand, Qi Badao was reliable, and on the other, there was indeed no connection. The City Guards would need to consider whether there's any backing before framing him. Clearly, Li Xin wasn't the main focus of the Zhao Family's plan, and with Kathy's arrival, he was quickly released.

"You're quite calm." Kathy expected Li Xin to be anxious, but when she arrived, she found him leisurely drinking tea, calmly handling the City Guards' bluffs with flawless responses.

"Sister Casey, the focus isn't on me. The one targeting me is likely Zhao Qing, not Zhao Xun, and the purpose is that he has some plan at the Black Rose that he doesn't want me to interfere with," Li Xin said. "How's Old Luo doing?"

"I've met him. Old Luo didn't deny it." Kathy sighed lightly, "But he's not doing it for himself."

"Sister Casey, you don't need to say it, I understand," Li Xin said. When he first arrived at the Night Patrol family quarters, he was surprised and even wanted to say the treatment of the Night Patrol was absurdly good. After all, in any world, an ordinary person's life isn't that valuable,

"If I were Old Luo, I'd be even more ruthless than him."

Governor Luthor did a lot, but tensions between social classes only eased, not disappeared. Being a noble and also part of the Night Patrol, she had taken a long time to adapt.

"What do we do now?"

"Take me to see Uncle Luo."

"Alright!" Kathy nodded immediately, "Think of some clever tricks."

"Sister Casey, this is wisdom!"

Li Xin said, thinking that Old Luo wasn't that easy to bring down and wondering how much Hao Ye had meddled in this affair. If it was intentional, how would he know that Old Luo would take money from the underworld?

The place where Luo Jin was held wasn't in the city but at the Obsidian Prison in the outskirts, a Black Reef Fortress that Celestial Capital specifically used to detain dangerous criminals, guarded by the Knight Order.

The carriage traveled a long way, gradually reaching the cliff-side prison, accompanied by the howling of wild beasts along the way. The prison was heavily guarded, layers of inspection were passed, and thanks to Kathy's connection, entering was not met with much obstruction.

The interior of the prison was extremely cold, with a mixed stench of blood,

A group of prisoners behind iron bars howled wildly as if injected with adrenaline upon seeing Kathy, crazily banging on the iron bars, some even exposing themselves.

Li Xin didn't tolerate it, since they didn't want it, they could do without it.

Li Xin flicked his fingers, and the exhibitionists immediately clutched themselves, rolling on the ground.

Kathy's expression noticeably relaxed, "Do you still carry stones with you?"

"Sister Casey, five Lira, remember to reimburse me when we get back, I've never been this extravagant in my life." Li Xin seriously counted.

Many of the convicts here were captured by Luo Jin. Now, Luo Jin was imprisoned inside, the former Night Patrol Captain, Canon Law School Grand Wind Discipline Officer, had become a felon.

Upon seeing Kathy, Luo Jin actually laughed, "Why are you here again? Didn't I say it's fine?"

In the outside world: Kevin seemingly all mighty and impressive, but her eyes immediately turned red when met with Kathy's stared red, she bit her lip and pointed at Li Xin.

"Uncle Luo, I'm here. It was tough just getting associated with you to be investigated so fast." Li Xin said with a smile.

Luo Jin glanced at Li Xin and nodded. He appreciated Li Xin's attitude, nothing bothers him more than someone who acts like it's the end of the world when trouble arises, "These people can't trouble you."

"Sister Casey arrived just in time, they had no evidence. It's all just bluffing and nonsense, nothing new." Li Xin said.

"Is everything alright at home? The young ones didn't cause any trouble, did they?" Luo Jin was a bit worried about the Night Patrol.

"They've been calmed down. What should we do next?" Kathy asked, concerned.

Luo Jin looked at Kathy, then at Li Xin, "For the next few days, don't do anything, trust in law and justice."

"At this point, you're still talking about that!" Kathy was so frustrated she stomped her foot; if law and justice worked, the world wouldn't be like this.

Li Xin looked at Luo Jin and suddenly had an epiphany, "Uncle Luo, what about me?"

"The one against you is likely Zhao Qing, not a big deal. Hao Ye is the problematic one, finding him would be a breakthrough, but he's probably already left Celestial Capital." Luo Jin said.

"Where is that place, should I take people there?" Kathy couldn't help but ask.

Luo Jin shook his head, "It's no longer important."

Kathy was stunned, how could it not be important? That was the hope of turning the tables.

"Kathy, Li Xin, listen carefully to what I'm about to say," Luo Jin said, "From now on, don't interfere with my matters, don't conduct any investigations, and absolutely don't get close to the Zhao Family. Remember, Li Xin, keep an eye on her."

"Uncle Luo, I can't keep an eye on her." Suddenly, Li Xin said, which left Luo Jin speechless after preparing for so long.

"Uncle Luo, should I understand this as you having a plan, and we're better off not causing trouble and just staying quiet?" Li Xin suddenly lowered his voice and asked.

"As long as you understand, isn't it enough not to say it out loud!" Luo Jin, with unskilled acting, glanced at the guards in the distance.

The knights waiting not far away were already very anxious, glancing around from time to time. If it weren't for Kathy's status, they wouldn't have wanted to risk this.

On the way back, Kathy's mood had indeed stabilized a lot. It seemed this was some sort of plan by Luo Jin, just that he didn't want her to be involved. In fact, Luo Jin had always been this way.

After sending Kathy back, by the time he got home, it was almost dawn. Aunt Fei and Xueyin were asleep, and Hao Ye didn't show up at the banquet last night. It looked like he had run off early.

Li Xin was constantly organizing his thoughts. Talking to old Luo was merely to comfort Kathy, but old Luo obviously had big problems since he didn't mention the Archbishop?

The Night Patrol answers directly to the Church, and Matthew is his direct superior. Yet when his essential team members were messed with, he had no reaction and even detained him in such a place?

Back then, Montreal was only within the city.

This was a bit odd, and another thing—when dealing with Montreal, the Archbishop wasn't entirely inactive, but proved to be rather useless. As the leading figure of the Moon God Church in the Celestial Capital, how could he be unable to handle Montreal and let Luo Jin mess around? In the end, he still had to rely on Miss Aries to help him break the stalemate.

He himself had no awe towards the Church, so he would ponder this aspect. However, since Montreal was ultimately judged, he hadn't thought deeply about it. But the situation that was now happening to Luo Jin made him ponder once more.

A leader of the Night Patrol accepting money from the underworld, whether it was bribery or extortion, could either be a big or small deal to the upper levels, and no one else knew where Luo Jin spent the money, though it's impossible that Matthew didn't know.

With things reaching this point, Li Xin was seriously questioning Matthew. At the very least, he had reached some sort of compromise with Zhao Xun, selling out old Luo.

Hao Ye did say one thing right: the upper levels like transactions and balance.

Li Xin returned to his room and used the dice to determine whether Hao Ye was in the Celestial Capital.

The dice successfully gave a determination, and it was very certain—Hao Ye was in the Celestial Capital. He hadn't left?

The medal given by old Luo once again proved its worth, helping Li Xin withstand the side effects of the Divine Relic. By dawn, Li Xin arrived at the Night Patrol. Kathy was also there; she couldn't sleep at all, and all the other captains were present too.

"Sister Casey, Hao Ye is still in the Celestial Capital. Let everyone find him, but don't startle the snake. Leave it to me to handle," Li Xin said.

It was not feasible to have Kathy just do nothing. Back home, they already eliminated her other ideas, just like when Montreal was captured. This time it's Zhao Xun's counterattack, and although the evidence of Luo Jin taking money from the gangs was irrefutable, given his merits, he would at most be detained for a period, relieved of his duties, but his life would not be at risk. Her father had already prevented her from seeking out Granfield and warned her not to stir up trouble over a small matter.

"Li Xin, I always feel it's not that simple. Am I imagining it?" Kathy asked, sharing her family's perspective.

"Sister Casey, let's see how this plays out. No one knows what the outcome will be right now, but we can't just let Uncle Luo go unheeded. Since Uncle Luo said Hao Ye is a problem, let's find him first." Li Xin also had to be wary in case Luo Jin really had some other plans and inadvertently destroy them.

Upon leaving the Night Patrol, Li Xin first returned to the Canon Law School. He rather hoped the very pretentious Hao Ye would show up at the Canon Law School.

The atmosphere at the Black Rose Base was also peculiar.

Lu Shuai pulled Li Xin aside, "What's going on, how come outside rumors say Luo Jin has been controlling the gangs, amassing huge wealth and committing all sorts of evil over the years, and also that you have connections with the gangs?"

Li Xin wasn't surprised but also admired internally, thinking no matter the result, they had already socially destroyed both old Luo and him.

"Zhao Xun has retaliated," Li Xin said.

"I guessed as much; if Luo Jin falls too, the Celestial Capital would become totally rotten," Lu Shuai pointed upwards. He had already sensed the intense decay. In fact, since Luthor's departure, the new policies of the past were being gradually eroded; the old aristocrats were making a comeback, and if the Zhao Family came out on top, the future would be difficult.

To a large extent, Luo Jin was a symbol of justice upheld by the lower classes, not just for one or two days but a persistence of over ten years, forming a spiritual pillar, even within the Canon Law School, giving hope to many common people and reformist aristocrats.

"Old Lu, you know a lot. What kind of person do you think the Archbishop is?" Li Xin suddenly asked. Lu Shuai was privy to a lot of rumors.

"Ah, the Archbishop, hmmm, how to say... His presence isn't particularly strong, and a lot of things are done by Luo Jin, but without his support, it seems like Luo Jin wouldn't be able to achieve much. Why are you bringing this up?" Lu Shuai asked suspiciously.

"I'm worried the Archbishop might discard him like a worn-out shoe," Li Xin said. Various indications suggested it was possible the Archbishop might sacrifice Luo Jin. Of course, there might be a plot twist, but betting one's destiny on someone else's integrity felt unreliable.

Lu Shuai nodded thoughtfully, acknowledging the high possibility. Within the upper levels, it wasn't considered a big deal.

"Brother, you should be careful," Lu Shuai patted Li Xin, "If you need anything, just look for me," he then whispered, ensuring no one was around, "If you need to escape, I can help you arrange it."

Luo Xue came over, "Li Xin, there's something I need to discuss with you."

Li Xin waved to Lu Shuai, Huerta, and Roland. Although they didn't say anything, their eyes were filled with concern. Li Xin followed Luo Xue to a meeting room upstairs.

Luo Xue handed Li Xin the latest Hex Bird Report, "This is today's edition."

The front-page headline was all about Luo Jin. Regardless if it's inside or outside the city, people deeply loathed the gangs of the Underground City, and it turned out Luo Jin was the biggest mastermind behind them. The rest of the report was just embellishments, attributing all the gangs' issues to Luo Jin.

"Li Xin, Grand Wind Discipline Officer Luo Jin is in trouble this time. There was initially room for maneuver in his situation. Personally, I believe in his character, but once this newspaper came out, he no longer has a foothold in the Celestial Capital," Luo Xue said worriedly. After hesitating, she looked at Li Xin, "I suspect the Archbishop might have abandoned him."

Although the Zhao Family is a major shareholder of the Hex Bird Report, it doesn't mean they can do whatever they want, especially involving the Night Patrol and the Church. The fact that this edition of the bird report could be published smoothly at such a sensitive time indicates many problems.

Luo Jin, who conscientiously maintained the safety of the Celestial Capital with no family or personal life, valued only his responsibilities and honors, and this article could destroy him at the core.

Li Xin's eyes grew cold as he suddenly realized this. Even he knew Luo Jin's nature, how could Matthew not know? Luo Jin lived by his beliefs; this was more devastating than killing him.

Things had reached this point, where it's either you die or I survive.

Luo Xue sensed a hint of coldness, but there was more to it, "Li Xin, you can't participate in the Four Nations Tournament."
