I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 37: Gourmet Delicacies

Could it be that Brother Li likes the simple and down-to-earth style?

Simmons pondered after hearing this, "I've reserved a table at the Lanuo Ivory Bay Restaurant, the chef is incredibly creative. It's been the hottest spot in Hedan for the past six months, and I haven't tried it myself. Should we change to another place?"

"No need, no need, I'm not picky about food." Li Xin quickly waved his hand. Expensive is fine, just don't change it back to the Lirong Inn for the same old Kung Pao Chicken, eating that once or twice is nostalgic, but every day is too much.

"Alright, then let's change our clothes." Simmons said, "This restaurant has a lot of rules; you either need to wear formal attire or the Canon Law School uniform. Perfect chance to try what we've prepared for you." Simmons was well-prepared, all the formalities had been taken care of these past few days. With him in charge, there wouldn't be any obstacles. Celestia came over holding a set of clothes.

Li Xin didn't hesitate, given he doesn't have many clothes to change into. The weather in Hedan is quite hot, making one easily sweat, so there's a distinction between casual and formal attire. No matter how expensive casual clothes are, the differences are mainly in material and details, generally, they're about the same. But formal wear, that's entirely different in price, with all the various noble requirements piled on.

Putting on the formal team uniform of the Saint Grace Canon Law School, Li Xin felt his own attractiveness had improved a bit just looking in the mirror. His eyes were shining brightly, and the aura was there, indeed, clothes make the man just like a saddle makes a horse. Turns out he could also go the route of good looks.

Celestia was very satisfied with her masterpiece; it wasn't just made by any tailor, but by the royal tailor shop—only families like theirs could cut the line. The sky blue Saint Grace Canon Law School uniform, once worn, stood remarkably out. Coupled with strength, respect was easily earned; Li Xin now truly looked like a part of Saint Grace. Watching, Simmons couldn't help but smile knowingly.

It feels like a dream, that one day he'd be teammates with Li Xin; truly, you can encounter anything while living.

Lancer, Rock, and others also changed into their outfits, and a group of handsome men and women standing together was truly stunning, "Boss, I heard tonight's at Lanuo Ivory Bay, is that true? How did you reserve it? I heard bookings are full until six months later."

Lancer is a foodie, loves good food and fun times, has been eyeing Lanuo Ivory Bay for a while but never managed to snag a reservation.

"I don't know, I just asked someone to try, maybe someone cancelled last minute. An early booking doesn't beat being at the right place at the right time. We're riding Brother Li's coattails." Simmons explained.

"Young Master Simmons, no matter how much you flatter me, it's you who'll pay the bill." Li Xin laughed, always modest during meals, never pretentious.

Everyone was amused by Li Xin. Generally, experts are cold and arrogant, eager to be adored by everyone. Simmons wasn't like that, nor was Li Xin. It really is about birds of a feather flocking together.

"Then we'll bask in the glory of both the boss and Brother Li. The Hex Bird Report and Hedan Daily both gave this restaurant the highest ratings. The chef, hailed as a once-in-a-century talent, comparable to a culinary god, might be a bit exaggerated, but since opening less than a year ago, there've been zero negative reviews, and many are lining up." Lancer rattled off effortlessly, making everyone realize just how valuable this reservation was.

In Hedan, nobles were everywhere, even the wealthy had to step aside. There was no shortage of rich people here, and to ensure the quality of ingredients and service, such restaurants limited the number of guests; securing a reservation required considerable influence and reputation.

Everyone's anticipation soared. Celestia, now in the formal team uniform of Saint Grace, with sapphire-like eyes that seemed to speak, was irresistible, catching the eyes of both men and women. Li Xin couldn't help but glance a few more times.

Such a formal dining affair surely can't be attended on foot—they'd lose face as nobles. The Saint Grace Canon Law School admitted students from all over Hedan without regard for status, yet those who came had to at least have the qualifications of being a wealthy merchant; none had poor family backgrounds. Three luxurious carriages were waiting at the entrance.

Li Xin, Simmons, Celestia, and Lancer shared one carriage, while the others took the other two. Simmons' carriage was drawn by four horses. In Hedan, the King, Queen, Princes, and Princesses used six horses, Princes used five, and nobles below Marquis used four horses. Some important civil servants used three, the current King was lenient in this aspect; two-horse and one-horse carriages were open to the public.

Once again, Li Xin experienced bold extravagance. In terms of enjoyment, Celestial Capital indeed couldn't compare to Hedan. The carriage was spacious and comfortable, upholstered with brightly-colored silk, the carpet softer than his mattress. Apart from snacks, there was also a box with ice, making the carriage feel airy, not stuffy at all.

"Li Xin, how are you so skilled? Why were you a substitute back in Celestial Capital? If you'd played, I feel Celestial Capital could've won." Lancer curiously asked, given it involved the honor of knights, while the value of that match wasn't high, its weight couldn't be ignored.

"The opponents were strong, my playing wouldn't have changed the outcome." Li Xin responded with a laugh, not mentioning Zhao Qing or the host of other matters. Celestial Capital was at a transitional stage, whereas Black Meteor was fully prepared. Frankly, there wasn't much chance.

Beside him, Simmons chuckled, and Li Xin was speechless, "What's so funny?"

"Cough, nothing really. At Saint Grace, you can play however you want, there's no issue of lacking an opportunity to perform. How about being the captain? I think it'll be great." Simmons suggested, seizing the moment.

Li Xin rolled his eyes hearing this. Before Celestia and Lancer could object, Li Xin was the first to refuse, "I'm merely at Saint Grace for a bit of study, do you want me to work for you all my life?"

"No such thing, we're working together." Despite being seen through, Simmons wouldn't admit it, just smiling contentedly. He'd already figured out how to handle Li Xin, a classic case of responding to gentleness, not toughness. Of course, his sincerity was also sincere.

Celestia and Lancer breathed a sigh of relief. The two exchanged looks; what kind of concoction had Simmons been fed, or was he drunk? Celestia knew Li Xin likely came from Secret Castle, but there were many Hidden Powers, many who inherited power vanished nonetheless. Reality demanded reliance on the Church Court or major families. The captain's position at the Saint Grace Canon Law School held significance for both honor and family influence; giving it up wasn't a casual matter—back home, he'd be in for a severe beating. Luckily, Li Xin was self-aware.

This world is never short of capable individuals, but a vast chasm lies between having abilities and realizing personal value. The George Family's current status and influence were the result of generations of relentless effort, built through life-and-death ordeals. Li Xin gaining such trust from Simmons was already incredibly fortunate, anything more, and it would be too much, potentially backfiring.

Lancer, being sharp, shifted the subject back to tonight's dinner, "This isn't just ordinary cuisine. Boss, you know this is my little passion, I've explored widely. Brother Li, your creative dishes have personality, but there's still a vast gap compared to this chef. Those who've tasted his food say the flavors are beyond words, capable of improving one's mood, uplifting the soul, and even possessing healing properties. Marquis Marcel's old pain in the leg disappeared after a meal, simply magical."

Celestia heard it was quite a popular restaurant, and like most women, she resisted gourmet delights with difficulty, though her preference leaned more towards Hidden Power. Nonetheless, she had heard rumors, "Could it be a bit overblown, is it reliable?"

Hearing this, the three were taken aback. Celestia's viewpoint was a bit peculiar. Simmons waved a hand, "Not at all, this is Hedan under the protection of the Earth Mother Goddess. For a restaurant with such a reputation, said to have served the upper echelons of the Church Court, if there were issues, we wouldn't be the ones to encounter them. Hidden Powers hide away, there's no way they'd dare to be so blatant."

Hearing this, Lancer also relaxed, "Scared me for a moment, how could food have such effects? If it's true, perhaps there really is Hidden Power involved. But with the Church Court, surely it's a good Hidden Power. Maybe someone just channeled their ability into food."

In Dao Yuan, Awakened individuals develop all sorts of strange powers. Those on the Knightly Path are generally more radiant, while those not quite as bright transform into Hidden Powers. Others not well-suited for combat or scheming, choose alternate routes. After all, Awakeneds are human too, wanting to live comfortably.

"What's to fear, eating will reveal the truth. I'd rather hope for an unexpected surprise!" Simmons's interest peaked, leaving Celestia and Lancer exchanging glances. Was this the Simmons they knew? The most stable captain of Hedan's Knight Academy and Canon Law School?
