I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 64: Overturning Rain and Clouds

Li Xin changed into a clean set of clothes. The heat of Hedan had its benefits; casual wear wasn't all that important. Though it felt a bit ambiguous, Li Xin didn't think much of it. He tidied up and called for a carriage to the Blue Bird Bar at 18 Cream Street.

Hedan in the evening was very beautiful. The Blue Bird Bar, of course, couldn't compare with the prime location of Ivory Bay, but it did sit near the end of the bay. The gentle sea breeze carried a hint of coolness, making Li Xin feel as if he was not on the Dao Yuan Continent, but in a coastal resort from his past life.

The Blue Bird Bar was already quite lively. The Hedan people enjoyed life and loved drinking, and whether rich or poor, they all found their place. Li Xin arrived early, tipped the waiter fifty Liras, and was given a good spot with a nice view, free from disturbances. This seemed to be the first proper invitation to a lady since coming to the Dao Yuan Continent.

He ordered the local specialty rum, probably around ten percent alcohol, sweet and easy to drink. Enjoying the breeze and listening to the surrounding chatter, though not really paying attention to what was being said, he just emptied his mind. People need to learn to relax; being tense all the time serves no purpose. The world will continue to turn as it should.

Li Xin thought Christie would take a while to arrive, but before the agreed time, he already spotted the silhouette of the glamorous sister. There was no helping it; even amongst the many beauties of Hedan, Christie was quite eye-catching. Her lightly curled golden hair and bright, expressive eyes made her stand out. Christie dressed simply, but the casual yet slightly mature look was more alluring in Li Xin's eyes. He felt intoxicated before even beginning to drink.

Li Xin waved, and Christie sat down with a smile, immediately sensing the envious and jealous eyes of those around.

"Have you been here long?" Christie brushed her hair, her body carrying a refreshing fragrance, the scent of a recent bath.

"Just arrived. Sister, what would you like to drink?" Li Xin motioned to the waiter.

Christie glanced around, "Quite experienced, aren't you? Your age and lifestyle don't seem to match this."

"As long as sister likes it." Li Xin skipped the question and gave a compliment.

"Smooth talker." Christie took the drinks menu, skimmed through it, and ordered a distilled liquor, likely around thirty or forty proof. "No kiddie juice for me."

Li Xin touched his nose, feeling underestimated. The waiter beside them also looked at Li Xin with a bit of disdain—how did this young guy manage to score such a stunning lady?

"What are you staring at? I have a special skill!" Li Xin said.

The waiter realized then; this young man's clothes were of ordinary fabric, while the lady's simple appearance was adorned with fine materials. He must be someone with a unique talent. It's said that noble ladies prefer those with extraordinary gifts.

"What special skill do you have?" Christie teased.

"I can write novels and cook, can handle both the battlefield and the kitchen. Does that count as a special skill?"

Christie chuckled, her laughter resonant and joyful. Her interaction with Li Xin was all about unabashed happiness. "No, it doesn't count."

"Oh, does this count?" Suddenly, with a flick of his hand, a Blue Night Flower appeared before them. "For you, sister."

The technique was learned from Mr. Kan, a basic magic trick. The Blue Night Flower was hard to come by in the market, unique to the Li Long people, and commonly seen in the Moon God's church. It's rarer in Hedan. It's said the Moon God likes the Blue Night Flower for its calm and reserved nature.

Christie accepted the flower with a slight smile, "Impressive, you must have fooled many young girls. I'm curious how you ended up with the Night Patrol."

"Just by chance," Li Xin replied. "What about you, sister?"

"Oh, do I not look like a Hedan person?" Christie asked.

"You do, but there are those in this world who are mixed-blood. Looking like a Hedan person doesn't necessarily mean one is a Hedan person." Li Xin raised his glass, "A toast to the Moon God."

Christie glanced at the blooming Blue Night Flower, much like a blossoming woman. "Can you handle it, little brother?"

"Sister, don't ask. If you ask, the answer is yes." The distilled liquor did pack a punch, but Li Xin wasn't too concerned—he enjoyed it.

Christie smiled slightly and also downed a glass, keeping her expression composed and steady. "How did you figure it out?"

"There were quite a few giveaways."

"Oh? Do tell. If you explain well, I'll drink a glass. If not, you drink a glass." Christie's fair fingers tapped the table.

"That's quite a gamble." Li Xin recognized Christie's challenge.

"What, are you scared?" Christie's voice carried a hint of indulgence and release.

"First time here, the president hinted you were with the Funeral Attendant, and I believed him. But later, your overemphasis on relations with the president was too obvious. Even if there were connections, no need to flaunt them before a newcomer, right?" Li Xin gestured to the drink.

Christie picked up her glass and downed it in one go, tilting back her head with a mesmerizing grace.

"The president is, after all, a man. I frequently visited your office, yet he never responded—unreasonable, isn't it?"

Christie giggled, "Alright, you're mocking the president for not being manly. I'll have to report this."

Li Xin blinked and smiled, "I'll join you for a drink."

"That's more like it." Christie cheerfully downed another glass.

This wine turned out to be quite potent. Li Xin felt a bit warm, but of course, he didn't use his spiritual ability to suppress it. That would be like drinking water for such expensive wine—what a fool would that be.

"The third time I mentioned you in front of Travis when I visited the Funeral Attendant, his expression was off, a bit disdainful. So, you're not one of the Funeral Attendant's people. Sister, your role-play was quite successful." Li Xin said.

"Oh, maybe my identity is very secret, and he doesn't know, or perhaps he's helping me hide it," Christie said indifferently.

"It's not the same, his reaction was too natural. A man's contempt is hard to fake, and as for him not knowing, that's even less likely. If anyone is going to monitor the Night Patrol closely, it would definitely be the boss of the Funeral Attendant in the Saint's Grace District. If he doesn't know, who would? Just drink," Li Xin said confidently.

Christie's eyes sparkled, suddenly turning wistful, "I treated you like a little brother, yet you're investigating me."

Li Xin couldn't help but laugh. "Together."

"That's more like it." Christie didn't mind; after all, sharing is more fun than enjoying alone.

Li Xin rotated the empty glass in his hand, "Actually, those are all secondary. You might pay attention usually, but at times, you unconsciously exude the demeanor of a leader, which isn't the bearing of a secretary, especially at Night Patrol meetings. A real secretary wouldn't act like that."

Christie refilled their glasses and waved for the waiter to bring another bottle. Facing the sea breeze, Christie wasn't the least bit upset about being uncovered.

"You're right, but my trick works well. It easily reveals a person's character and integrity. Do you think the Bird Society is easy to enter?" Christie laughed. "Let's change the subject, now tell me about yourself."

Li Xin knew Christie definitely had secrets but didn't want to delve further. Changing the topic, he thought she might be on some mission. A Night Patrol member looking completely like a Hedan person, obviously the boss, yet with an inappropriate disguise, it couldn't just be a test for the newcomers.

But it didn't matter; he didn't want to know either.

"Did you come to Hedan seeking refuge after doing something you didn't want people to know, related to Luo Jin?" Christie smiled as she asked.

Li Xin shrugged indifferently at Christie, "Sort of."

Mentioning Luo Jin, Li Xin felt a bit regretful for not being able to have a good drink with him, "Uncle Luo is a fool, so impulsive like a young man despite his age. An old stubborn guy."

Perhaps it was the alcohol; talking about old Luo made Li Xin nostalgic.

"Here's to the old stubborn," Christie raised her glass to clink with Li Xin's, acknowledging the kind of endurance and persistence it took for Night Patrol members to reach such a point, heading there with the conviction of losing everything.

"You're not a Li Long person," Christie continued.

Li Xin looked at Christie, puzzled, "What makes you say that?"

"I don't recall meat scraps and Kung Pao chicken being hometown dishes of the Li Long people. Unfortunately for you, I have an extensive knowledge base in this area and there's no mistake," Christie pointed to her forehead, "Also, your demeanor doesn't quite fit the traditional Beijing person either."

"Sister, you've been observing me so closely, could you possibly fancy me?" Li Xin opened his eyes wide.

"You guess," Christie smiled and raised her glass, and they clinked lightly.

The strong liquor flowed down their throats, leaving an indescribable pleasure and relaxation in their hearts. At this moment, the night in Hedan seemed exceptionally beautiful, the sea breeze gently blowing—truly a wonderful place.

"I'm an orphan," Li Xin said after finishing his drink.

"What a coincidence, so am I," Christie said with a smile.

"Doesn't that call for a drink?"

Bam~~~

The two of them talked and drank a lot, but thereafter, they didn't delve into each other's secrets anymore, instead sharing various stories and jokes, then got onto a carriage together.

Christie naturally leaned into Li Xin's embrace, her curvaceous figure exuding endless feminine charm. Moonlight shone through the window, highlighting Christie's long eyelashes and her fair, delicate skin. Looking at her, Li Xin felt parched.

The carriage arrived at the Lirong Inn, and Li Xin helped Christie to his room.

Looking at the dazed Christie lying on the bed, clothes disheveled and half-revealing, Li Xin felt a buzzing temptation, making his head spin. He poured a glass of water, and just as he was about to drink, Christie on the bed moaned for water. Li Xin brought the glass over, and that's when Christie opened her sleepy eyes, grabbing Li Xin's collar and pulling him close; instantly, their faces were inches apart, feeling each other's hot breath.

In that moment, all the passion ignited between the two adults, as if destined to be a night of tumultuous, soul-stirring entanglement…
