I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 92: Struggle

Li Xin didn't sleep very well, but breakfast was still a must, thanks to the great King, the days in the Saint George District were becoming increasingly stable and comfortable.

In any society, as long as the aristocracy abides by the law, life for those below improves significantly, giving hope to the people. The inn business started bustling, and along with it, Old Morton's breakfast stall thrived, attracting more immigrants to choose life in Saint George District.

"Why are you sporting dark circles? Didn't sleep well yesterday? Young man, you need to take care of your health." Old Morton placed a large bowl of beef soup in front of Li Xin, with a touch of spicy sauce—a flavor Li Xin recommended. Initially, Old Morton didn't think much of it, but after Koi said Dragon Language became popular, he tried it out, and it turned out to be a hit.

People doing heavy labor tend to prefer strong flavors, and this spicy sauce greatly stimulates the appetite.

"I've been busy with work."

"No need to explain, I understand. Eat more, I added a bullwhip to nourish you," Old Morton joked.

Li Xin glanced speechlessly at the large chunk hidden beneath the meat; this... was like having heroic prowess with no place to use it.

After breakfast, Li Xin doubled the breakfast fee. Otherwise, such diet practices would soon close the breakfast shop; better to maintain a steady flow.

Even though yesterday was filled with aimless busyness, leaving the mood a bit off, Master Simmons still required attention. If today's endeavor at the Holy Land succeeds, it would add leverage against Didia.

Simmons' carriage was already waiting at the inn entrance, with the driver Uncle Ram politely and respectfully awaiting Li Xin. Ram was an old hand of the George Family, managing the logistics fleet and was assigned to serve Simmons, a testament to his capability. He knew very well the young man's status in the young master's heart and wouldn't dare to slacken.

Because one couldn't predict when Li Xin would require the carriage, he was waiting early in the morning.

"Master Xin, are you heading to the Canon Law School?" Ram greeted from afar.

"Uncle Ram, you're early, waiting for me?"

"Yes, the young master asked me to bring you over; he's already at the Canon Law School." Ram replied respectfully.

"Our eagle-like young master is truly a diligent person. Thank you for your hard work." Li Xin jumped into the carriage, and if Master Simmons were a girl, she'd be his dream girl.

After closing the door for Li Xin, Ram climbed into the carriage and smoothly pulled the reins. The carriage quickly picked up speed, traveling fast yet steadily to the Canon Law School, without Li Xin feeling any bumps along the way.

Upon reaching the base, Simmons and Celestia were already waiting, especially Simmons, fully equipped with an air of determination. The Gate of Truth on the ground had been arranged.

"Is everything ready?"

"All set, Simmons, go for it!" Celestia waved her fist.

Simmons nodded, and the two walked into the Gate of Truth. Celestia activated it with glowing brilliance, causing Li Xin and Simmons to vanish from sight.

When their vision returned, Li Xin and Simmons had reached the Holy Land once again, at the same location as last time, with a stone archway in the distance. Li Xin's advancement didn't hinder Simmons' progress.

Accompanying the rustling sounds, several Lickers emerged from the mist, along with larger Inhalers pouncing towards Li Xin and Simmons. Simmons took a step forward, wielding his Greatsword horizontally, "Brother Li, I'll handle this."

Li Xin stepped back two steps, extending his hand, "Let's see your performance."

Simmons drew the Greatsword and charged forward with bold steps, his gaze sharp and his momentum soaring. Since Li Xin's arrival, he acquired something called fearlessness, adding more masculinity, as his Greatsword infused with Spiritual Ability, opened large and closed even larger. Defensive counterattack was Simmons' combat rhythm—very solid, leaving virtually no monster capable of withstanding Simmons' strike; precise, efficient, and powerful.

The Lickers in the Holy Land were extremely troublesome; their physical strength and speed were significantly superior to those outside. Yet now, Simmons handled them with ease—the only hassle was the Inhalers. However, these monsters lost their stealth and geographical advantage, making it a luxury to confront a high-ranked Knight head-on.

After some time, Simmons steadily slaughtered the Fallen creatures one by one, covered in monster blood, exuding a kind of triumphant aura.

The two of them passed through the stone arch together, and right in front was the stone bridge that had obstructed Simmons for a long time.

"Where do these things come from, do they reappear every time?" Li Xin asked.

A group of Fallen helped Simmons warm up. Unlike before, now Simmons was full of power, he finally felt the difference in strength. During the intense confrontations over the past week with Li Xin, his body was rapidly adapting, and the potential accumulated over the years had been unleashed by Li Xin. Facing these Fallen, even the slightest fear that remained had completely vanished.

Simmons recalled his grandfather's words: all fear stems from insufficient strength.

Looking at Li Xin's calm demeanor, Simmons nodded, "Yes, every time you kill them, new ones will appear, and the longer the interval, the more monsters there will be, but there is a limit."

"The Fallen in the Holy Land and those outside are quite different if you look closely. Are the Fallen here just monsters, or humans transformed?"

While battling earlier, Li Xin observed that not all monsters are the same, and he wanted to know what lay beyond the mist.

Simmons was stunned for a moment, "I guess no one has ever thought about this, aren't Fallen just Fallen?"

Li Xin gently shook his head, "It's human transformation, and it's quite different from native monsters."

Understanding the patterns and origins allows one to make accurate judgments in emergencies. Since coming to Dao Yuan, Li Xin had always wanted to gain more hidden knowledge. Unfortunately, for now, the one with the most reserve in this area is Mr. Cancer. There's no hope from Miss Aries or Mr. Leo, and Taurus probably knows something, but extracting useful information from him is much harder than from Mr. Cancer.

Grandfather often said that strong people explore rules. He hadn't understood it before, but in Li Xin, many sayings were constantly being verified.

"Does your family have any records or explorations about the mist?"

Simmons shook his head, "No, it's untouchable, unexploitable, that's the law of the Holy Land. The mist represents soul-demise, it's a taboo."

Li Xin's dice turned, silently making a judgment. The danger level beyond the mist, the dice smoothly and without hesitation gave a maximum danger judgment of 1 point. Based on his understanding of the dice, this feeling of unfinished business indicates that what's beyond the mist shouldn't be provoked. This also dispelled Li Xin's idea of trying an adventure.

Li Xin chuckled, "Young Master Simmons, if we can cross this Thunder Road today and reach the other side, your duel chances will increase by another ten percent. With what we've accumulated, there's hope for survival."

"Brother Li, you really know how to encourage people." Simmons stabbed the greatsword into the ground, he was ready to play for his life. Perhaps having an extra companion made his state completely different from before. But no matter what, the Thunder Road must be walked independently. Whether he can truly create a miracle and grasp the Thunder Power depends on luck.

Since meeting Li Xin, his luck has improved.

Li Xin's fingers flashed with spiritual ability, ready to create that peculiar spiritual ability rope. Simmons waved his hand, "No need today, if we don't go all out, we'll never get through."

Clap clap clap~~

"Very good, like an eagle, young master, keep it up. Don't worry, if something unexpected happens, I will make sure to collect your body." Li Xin said, clapping.

Simmons grinned, no longer being cheeky, his eyes instantly became sharp as he stepped onto the stone bridge. Mist rolled, thunder flashed, bolts of lightning struck, Simmons focused intensely, entering an optimal state. Everything around became keenly sensitive, as if eyes grew on his shoulders and back. For a knight, this was a mystical, transparent realm. Not only that, he felt the thunder was slowing down.

It was an extremely special feeling, and it filled him with joy, yet he quickly suppressed it. He couldn't let emotions sway him. Simmons advanced steadily on the stone bridge, not too fast nor too slow, solid and measured. Every night, his mind would repeat Li Xin's movements and postures countless times, even replaying them in dreams, and the feeling became clearer and clearer. Strong individuals have an intuition of whether something is working, whether there's improvement, they feel it. He dared to abandon protection due to his confidence.

Outside, Celestia watching the crystal ball also felt intense anticipation. The Holy Land for two-persons would experience variables because of an additional person. She was quite familiar with Simmons' Holy Land. Now, the intensity far exceeded Simmons' solo actions. Yet Simmons achieved an unprecedented "calmness," simply unimaginable. Watching Li Xin "torment" Simmons these days, she understood the process, but always had some doubts about the result. Now all doubts vanished, leaving only tense anticipation.

Simmons advanced steadily, the early stone bridge was simple, but he couldn't be happy too soon. As one hovering thunder orb after another appeared, the real test began. Just as he adapted to one rhythm, this floating rhythm suddenly emerged, which was the scariest. Predicting the thunder, Simmons could do it before, but the hovering and trembling triggers of the thunder orbs almost drove him crazy. Just a single wrong prediction would shift the focus, resulting in failure.

He moved forward, the thunder orb attacked, but in Simmons' eyes, the thunder orb also slowed down. Every movement had a precursor. This precursor was no longer unpredictable; from the moment of activation, Simmons could somewhat grasp the direction. His body followed suit, and the orb was dodged

not in a rush with all his strength, but with composed and leisurely foresight. Leaving room made confidence grow exponentially, and judgments became increasingly precise.

The strong remain strong.
