I Have a Dice Left by a God

Chapter 100: The Two-Faced Prince

Outside the door, Prince Achilles' carriage took Didia away from the Saint Grace Canon Law School. Even though it was the Prince's carriage, it was met with jeers along the way. If not for Achilles' reputation, who knows what the situation would be.

A draw for Didia was essentially a loss. In the eyes of the public, Simmons was a level beneath Didia; and just yesterday, Simmons was injured because of the Holy Land, alarming the Metropolitan. It wasn't a matter of pretending; today, there was certainly reason to postpone or appoint a duel proxy.

Yet Simmons did not show fear; he courageously stepped up and achieved a draw. What if he hadn't been injured?

This duel originated from Anthony's incident. The Nasser Clan was doubly defeated, losing both assets and Didia.

In the carriage, Didia had regained his calm, with no sign of discomfort on his face.

Achilles smiled slightly and handed a bottle of wine to Didia, "Have a drink. When you suffer a defeat, there will always be people who care about you, ask what happened, and then leave satisfied. The next few days might be tough."

Didia took the bottle, twisted the cap open, gulped down the spicy liquor, and breathed deeply, "Tasting defeat is more unbearable than death."

"Simmons indeed gave a bit of surprise this time; there's a touch of the fledgling eagle about him." Achilles smiled slightly, enjoying the unexpected.

"Your Highness, who is this Avogadro?"

"A hidden power from an ancient organization; currently seems non-hostile, but be careful dealing with him," Achilles said.

Didia paused and then nodded seriously; for the Prince to be so cautious, it must be an unusual hidden power, though it had little to do with him. The challenging days were ahead.

The carriage moved on with a rhythmic clatter. The royal carriage was naturally spacious and comfortable. Achilles drank his cherished wine; today was about business, which went splendidly. He hadn't expected Simmons to mature to this extent, which was the best result, avoiding much trouble.

"You don't seem much affected; go back, take a bath, rest a while, and how about going out tonight?" Achilles suddenly said.

Didia was surprised by the abrupt turn; should he be going out in his situation?

"I've planned a chat on life with a beautiful lady tonight, using the excuse of comforting you, but we need to touch base first; you can help keep watch. My father has been watching me closely lately; it's troublesome. I always feel the saying 'Princes are punished the same as commoners' is aimed at me."

Is this still the wise and valiant Second Prince he pledged allegiance to?

Didia was dumbfounded; did the Prince suffer from a split personality, sometimes wise and courageous, sometimes lecherous?

At this moment, the Saint Grace Canon Law School was lively as always, with people chanting Simmons' name, and the crowd outside the school was even louder; justice had triumphed.

Simmons' injuries were far more severe than Didia's; he still couldn't move and was carried to the school's infirmary after a while. Luckily, there was no hidden power involved, just regular spiritual ability harm; he had two broken ribs, but would recover with some rest. For a warrior, it wasn't a serious injury.

Simmons found an excuse to disperse the crowd, then sent Celestia to buy lunch; he wanted a good meal. Normally, Celestia wouldn't bother with him, except today, her dashing brother's craving for seafood wasn't much to ask.

"Not bad. Seems our last-minute training paid off," Li Xin said with a smile.

Simmons shook his head and sighed, "Thunder Lord's name is not in vain; I lost."

"Don't say that; a draw is a draw." Li Xin could certainly tell; with full strength, even if Didia underestimated and was caught off guard by a Thunder Counter, his temporary awakening couldn't compare to thousands of times honed skills. Didia would be injured, but Simmons' life would be in peril.

"Can't figure out how His Highness convinced Didia." Simmons understood deeply; his forte was brains.

"Everyone has different thoughts, and families are no exception. But as a bystander, Didia made a right decision; he abandoned what he cared about most, showing he shouldn't be underestimated," Li Xin said.

Simmons nodded; ultimately, the royal family decided the Nasser Clan's fate.

As for Didia personally, facing the upcoming glory battle, being stronger attracts more attention, while Didia took himself out of the picture and increased his chances of victory.

"This battle has been rewarding; I'm more eager for the glory battle." Simmons breathed deeply, mentally exhilarated, "Brother Li, let's find a place to drink tonight and celebrate."

"Are you up for it?"

"What are you talking about? My bones are broken, not my head." Simmons genuinely breathed a sigh of relief under Didia's pressure. He not only made a breakthrough but leveraged favorable conditions to enhance the George Family's prestige, certainly worth celebrating.

"Haha, sure thing. You rest, I'll have a carriage pick me up tonight."

Li Xin didn't linger long; it was Monday, and he needed to check sales feedback at the Hex Bird Report, and discuss next steps with Christie.

After Li Xin left, Simmons lay facing up on the bed, staring at the ceiling, gripping his fist tightly; winning it firsthand was refreshing!

He never had confidence in Thunder Counter; merely awakened Thunder Power. After several failed attempts, in the showdown, it surged unexpectedly, a feeling unforgettable once experienced. Fatigue quickly overcame him and he fell asleep.

Walking the paths of Saint Grace Canon Law School, jubilant crowds surrounded him; many sang and danced. It wasn't just a duel victory; it was a triumph for their beliefs, greatly inspiring. But it wasn't good news for the Nasser Clan and old nobles.

Li Xin avoided the crowd, went far on before hailing a carriage. Although not open-top, it didn't matter. He finally had savings, elated with anticipation, soon to discover the new serial's payment, it's delightful...

The carriage trotted toward the Hex Bird Society; halfway through, Li Xin realized it was lunchtime. As the Society didn't provide meals, he needed to return to the inn for a meal.

Seeing Li Xin return, Dragon Mother spotted him from afar, "Ah, our great writer is back! Heard the weekly sold out, young Master Xin, you're going to get rich! Don't forget us old friends."

"Dragon Mother, we agreed; don't expose me or I'll have to move," Li Xin said, having already warned her. Otherwise, given her nature, she'd widely advertise, though the Hedan people weren't prone to idol worship like in his previous life.

Dragon Mother felt aggrieved like a small wife; it was a pity to waste such a golden signboard. But if it really drove Li Xin away, it'd be a true loss. Having him stay despite success was a blessing, and it concerned the handsome Simmons as well.

"Ah, my work is always flawless," Dragon Mother said with a chuckle. "By the way, how did today's duel go? Did Simmons win?"

Besides David, Dalivin, and others who knew, Dragon Mother's subtle handling made the rumors dismissed as boasting; after all, if truly capable, who'd stay in such a place?

Compared to Anthony's event, Simmons and Didia's duel had limited impact, not yet surpassing the Utopia Mountain vendetta in attention.

"It was a draw." Li Xin showed a gratified smile; Simmons had been brave and cunning, mainly daring to risk it all. With this hurdle passed, the eagle was destined to soar.

"A draw? Did Didia use any underhanded means?" Dragon Mother expressed disbelief.

Li Xin hesitated; well, everyone has their perspective, "Hmm, kind of; Simmons did train injured on Sunday, securing a draw was impressive."

"I knew it, a man like an eagle, majestic," Dragon Mother said, enraptured, hugging herself.

Seeing Dragon Mother in a dreamy pose, Li Xin quickly slipped away.

"Mr. Kan, make it a large portion, please, I'm in a hurry," Li Xin called.

At the moment, the Great Magician wore a waiter's tunic, weaving through the crowd, sweating profusely, busy and lively. Initially, he maintained composure, only a part-timer. In the end, he donned what Dragon Mother gave him, and although scored a free uniform, the magician's grace was gone, now fully immersed.

Li Xin's call seemed to awaken certain memories in Kan, quickly succumbing to reality, "Got it, coming right up."

Then calling toward the kitchen, "Ma Liu, a large pepper chicken combo for Ah Xin, urgent."

Li Xin polished off his meal, returned to his room, washed his face, wet his hair, and tidied himself before a blurred mirror. An impressionist handsome lad emerged.

… Something seemed missing. Right, the artist's air, he needed time to seek advice from Dalivin, who possessed greater insights from years immersed in arts.
